I got issued 7 of them when I deployed to Iraq.

They were brand new in their packages.

4 of the 7 didn't fit the magwell, and of the three that did none of them cycled reliably. They were a significant downgrade from my beat to shit aluminum Colt GI mags.

I have no explanation for why 3 of the 4 didn't fit, they seemed okay. I tested them in several rifles and none of the rifles took them. The fourth had obviously gotten squished at some point in shipping, it wasn't square any more and had a pretty significant crease in one side where something heavy had been sitting on it.

As to why the remainder didn't feed well, I have a couple theories.

I should also mention this was 2006, which predates the HK 416 so they were definitely intended for AR's/M4's. They were new/recent production, as far as I could tell they hadn't been sitting in a warehouse somewhere (the bags were still clean and clear, which never happens with mil-issued shit, and the shipping oil on the mags was still nice and runny, normally that shit turns into a thick syrup after it sits in a warehouse a while).

To this day I don't know if the Army got a bad batch or what, but out of my squadron maybe a third of the deployment-issue mags, which were all HK, had to be DX'd while we were still in Kuwait.

Interesting. Do you prefer shooting thumb break with a VFG to using an AFG? Because right now I do the former, and am considering the latter for my next build.

I've decided that short of a light, this rifle is where I want it, and I want a different rifle to put a magnified optic on.

Unfortunately I can't seem to find the word document in which I have the well prepared argument presented.

The basic gist is that Magpul has a huge financial incentive to monopolize the emerging universal mounting market. I portray a narrative in which Magpul sees the truly open source, patentless and ownerless Keymod release, then decides that there is a lot of money to be made in the emerging market. In response to Keymod (and this fits the chronology) Magpul releases M-Lok to directly compete with Keymod, arguing that Keymod's inability to be adapted to polymer makes it non applicable.

Magpul patents and copyrights M-Lok, but is currently giving away licenses for production free of cost. Cordan correctly identified a passage in the M-Lok FAQ document in which Magpul commits to keeping the M-Lok licenses free. "The system will remain free and open for all to use, providing items are built within the
published standards".

I believe that this commitment is weak, especially considering the massive profit that could be made in the next decade if and once the industry settles on a universal standard. I claim that if M-Lok is chosen, Magpul will simply begin to charge for licenses since it is the sole proprietor, or it might deny licenses to companies which will make contracts with the DOD, so that DOD contracts for M-Lok products all go to Magpul.

Magpul is a fantastic company, but is undoubtably already the largest firearms accessories producer in the entire industry. There is no reason for us to support their expansion into a position of monopoly over the next universal mounting option. We, as firearms enthusiasts and consumers in the firearms accessories industry, benefit from a more varied and diverse market with a multitude of companies offering different products. A Magpul monopoly on the next universal mounting standard excludes such benefit.

I like your rail covers, but your AFG honestly makes me wish I had a terminal brain tumor every time I see it.

Either way I think Magpul is good people, and they wouldn't do a hostile takeover like that, and they are committed to more options in the market, as opposed to less.

Plus, it's just bad business to start charging for a license that was always free.

Magpul did however commit to keeping M-Lok free to use. I don't trust this commitment though because it isn't legally binding. I don't see why they can't just release the patent and copyright. Cash rules everything.

I like it a lot. Solid and comfy. I'm only worried I won't be able to re-mount it properly when I have to replace the barrel. But we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

They mostly seem to make it in the Keymod version now, but if the mounting system doesn't bother you I would go for it.

I think there is an upper with a .300BO barrel for $350 on their site right now if you don't mind swapping your barrel. There was also one with a 24" barrel which you could either replace or send off to ADCO to get trimmed to 17" and open the gas up a little bit because it's rifle length gas.

Haven't seen it in a 5.56 16" combo in a hot minute. But it's a pretty good deal. I got mine flaming hot and it was $280 for the upper without a BCG or CH.

DX is an acronym, not really sure what the official meaning is but it's where you turn in broken/worn out shit and get a replacement.

Stuff collected via DX does go to DRMO, where it is repaired if possible/economical, destroyed if it's not salvageable, or auctioned to the general public if it's serviceable/repairable but not worth the money.

Really? All the Bel guys out here are cross gamers because the rule set is pretty much the damn same. I typically find the average skill level higher at Bel events too.

In my experience Bel fighters are also more aggressive and swing hard, but a decent amount of them fall for that 12 ounce pixie stick shit. I'll generally take any hit with decent force though.

>mfw some kid with a spear was trying to call shots on me because he sucked

I fucked up a call on my armor once, but corrected myself almost immediately and apologized.

I have so much fucking staying power in open field battles with all the armor I have on. People will charge me and I'll just take them to the ground and hold them until a team mate can backhack them.

Same here actually. The Bel fighters in CO outclass the Dag guys in general. They hit plenty hard, and fight aggressively, but I don't like the mechanics of the light weapons or the lack of a blade edge. The weird backhanded shots just don't look anything like actual sword combat. That's just my take. I honestly suck super hard at fighting.

I've got a decent set of 1/4" leather but I rarely use it because our practices are never more than 10-15 people. I imagine armor at a big event is fun.

I took them for a couple of hikes and put about 400 rounds through the rifle with them on. They held up just fine but I can tell that the BCM ones retain much more securely, and are probably rated to a higher temperature. They were kinda rubbery.

I can't wait to go camping and shooting this summer.

Here in Ohio the skill blend is pretty good. I try not to judge your skill based on game because I used to rip the Ampt guys but then one came out and was cutting me apart.

You need to learn how to do a wrap shot. My fucking cheese shot is I'll punch your shield on your sword side with my shield, and flat wrap you across the back.

You would see them fight differently with an edged blade. But the only thing I bitch about anymore is pussy archers. I hate archers at big events. They pretty much ruin my fun. That's why I love fighting in the rain so there are no projectiles.

Here's a video of my killing a guy at his knights trial with my cheapo shot. If the link doesn't take you to the right time click to 3:05

So fucking glad I went.
And I might give my pistol a try on the way back to Georgia tomorrow morning.

if anybody is looking for an AP15 lower, they should have grabbed one when they were still being produced, considering how few people sell stripped lowers, and with them being limited expect people to charge over MSRP

as far as getting one goes, somebody in an FB group may be willing to part with one provided they havent done anything to it yet
>>
>>29341181
Also keep in mind if you look up Nightwish, they've had 3 singers since they formed, current singer is Floor Jansen, their show at Wacken 2013 shows her off wonderfully.

She's got the look, the presence, and the voice, the best so far in my opinion.

Learned basic technique from a USMC SS, but improved with some color theory.

A gun is horizontally long, best to break up its pattern with hard edges and the occasional vertical highlight IMHO

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DckZYJ2Yek0

If anon wants to do the same basic theory is this.

1. Bottom layer is high light layer and least prevalent layer
2. Add patterning material (I use string for control, though orange netting, chicken coop wire, leaves, tall grass, and USMC laundry bag netting has also been suggested to me)
3. Cure between each layer with the heat of the summer sun or a heat gun.
4. If you fuck up, don't sweat it. The beauty of Krylon is that is fairly strong when cured, but easily removed with Acetone and especially when it hasn't cured.
>>
>>29341831

Thanks mang! I need to paint more, but it being the start of spring I'm feeling lazy. Would just rather the summer heat and rays cure my gat for me rather than deal with curing between layers with a heat gun and commandeering the oven
