They already are. AEW&C will be handled by modified Merlin rotary wing birds, and the Ospreys have already undergone testing for aerial refueling with F-18s. I have little doubt the British especially with utilize them for this; the USN is already replacing all the C-2 Greyhound with Ospreys for replenishment. I don't think it'll be long before they figure out how to run a RO/RO replenishment module with them and add the capability to a block upgrade. Way more efficient than using bugs with buddy stores.

Brit commentator here, agreed though V-22 sits on the back of the line for the shopping list for the armed forces. Navy took a good share of budget this turn, they've now got to wait at the back for their projects whilst the army get the new IFV platform rolling out.

poor glide envelope

too fast for rotary wing escort

can't go down in a hurry while in helicopter mode. unless you want to crash.

the million dollar ground vehicle made to fit in it. discontinued because "muh armor". is also too dangerous to be used as a garrison vehicle.
