probably too heavy
>>29274208
Because they can make them smaller, cheaper and slap them on a rifle and still do the same job.
>>29274208
>heavy as fuck
>apparently had a habit of short stroking.
>barely any performance improvement over the M79
>more than likely far more expensive
Gee I wonder why these never went into mass production

but they don't look as cool
can you imagine how awesome it would've been if a whole platoon had these charging away firing

The gun itself weighed about 10.2 lbs and held four grenades which weighed a half-pound each.
It also would only feed round nosed grenades such as HE and HEDP which limited its versatility.
Lastly, it was introduced at a time when the XM148 was being fielded. The China Lake had the same problems as the M79 - if in a situation that does not call for the use of a grenade launcher - the soldier carrying one has no useful arm to fight with.
Because this exists.
I was a Grenadier when I deployed to Iraq.
It was bad enough carrying M16/M203 and the two dozen variety pack of grenades.
It would suck even harder to carry a separate weapon to shoot grenades, in addition to my rifle.

The China Lake was tested in early 1968. The XM148 had been in testing since 1965 but was ultimately rejected for adoption by the Army in 1967. AAI's M203 didn't come about until 1969.
I carried an M203 for a time as well. The quadrant sight was a wonderful thing.

I was under the assumption that soldiers that had issued M79's were also issued an M16?
>>29274386
Holy fuck, I didn't even realize it's Drake. Nice to see ya faggot.
>>29275243
No, they got a 1911 issued.
because macvsog disbanded and they have been unnecessary in the environments since then
