Bugout bags are a good thing to have but think of a situation where it would actually be useful.
The only reason you would leave the comfort of your home in a SHTF scenario is if you were out of supplies.
You would willingly become a refugee surrounded by thousands of other desperate people.
You would be outnumbered and killed because your AR in your hands and camo backpack gives you away as being well supplied.
Stock up at home and have a small civilian looking bag for if you need to leave for a few days, something that doesn't scream "shoot me for free boolits"

I mean, if shit really hit the fucking fan, most people in this thread would be dead in less than half a year.

It all depends on the severity of the happening. If it's only something that lasts one week, then yeah, those guns will come in handy. But an event that would last many months, we would all be royally fucked even with all those guns.

for SHTF would it be better to use an obrez or a standard pistol? I can't hit the broad side of a barn with my nugget since the barrel is shot to shit, so if things get fucked I may as well cut it up. is there any disadvantage though aside from weight, capacity, and maneuverability though?

If your survival food is rice, you need more water. Also if thats for bugging out the cook time on that while not horrid is to long for being on the move.
Its not advised to eat it with out cooking it either. Switch to oats at least you can eat them dry if you have to cold camp.

Maybe you'd be fucked but myself and dozens of /k/omrades I've met IRL would be pure gold.
Why is it so hard to believe that we could protect our selves and slowly form back in a civilized society if it all went to shit anon?
And it wouldn't take anything like six months and it would be more like 95% of Americans to doe off. Only a very tiny percentage of us can provide for ourselves with out walmarts.

One of these days I'll get around to doing a full packing list, and probably better photos, but I took this photo of the contents of my INCH bag (all fits in a Kelty 80liter pack) a week or two ago to figure out if I needed anything else.
By looking at the photo you should be able to identify what most of it is. Top left bag has my sleeping bag in it (lightweight).

I should also state that my SHTF plan is to stay put. I only am making this bag in the case I have to flee on foot. Do I ever see that happening? No. But who knows what the future might hold, and in any event, I can take items from this bag and use in local patrols around the area if need be.
