You building one OP?
My 39-2. Carried by a LEO in the 1970s.
Can anyone explain the blued slide/stainless frame combo?
Someone suggested it was a LEO model, but I haven't found anything about it.
>>28649041
preparing for a project in the future once i move, yes
>>28649056
fucking gorgeous.
could you pull it out and take a pic of the inside of the frame with the slide off?
>>28649067
Thanks, wish I could but I don't have it right now. But I'll check go my photos and see if I have any that could help you out.
>>28649094
really appreciate it
I especially love guns with a history... carried by LEO, soldier art, etc.
>>28649108
That's part of the reason I got it. Guns with history are the best. Only gun I will never sell.
Still considering dropping the $50 for the serial number history report from Smith & Wesson.

Yeah thanks, the problem is i haven't found one that wasn't filmed on VHS in 1980, they're all 240p, can't see shit
Why aren't these more popular?
I don't know much about them, but what are some sellinh points of this design?
>>28655299
>1st semiauto DA pistol in the US
>used by police forces
>used by Navy SEALS
A lot of the selling point is the history, but the design is excellent as well.
They're just great guns all around. Mine is almost 50 years old and shoots like a dream.
Im feeling nice, lettme try my god teir googlefu.
I found one. Pic upcoming.
It was quite challenge.
Im still looking for more just for hell of it.

THANK YOU!

A large part of why I want a 59 is to see how feasible it would be to make a hush puppy clone.
>>28660726
where would you even buy those giganto sights at?
>>28660955
A lot of it would probably have to be fabricated. That stock would be impossible to find as well
>>28660972
every time I get an idea to recreate a MGS firearm I get shut down realizing I have to talk to the mouth breather retard fudds in virginia in order to get any customization done.
be me in kinda large LGS:
>"hey do you guys do any gunsmithing?"
>"no..."
>"oh ok, do you know anyone in the area that does any gunsmithing?"
>"yea, our udder store, about that way"
>"where?"
>*smacks lips* "hop on I95 and drive about 97 miles north"
sometimes I cant believe this state claims to be from the south, they hate trucks, hard labor and firearms
Decided against buying one last year for $299. A 39-2. Regret it to this day.
>>28661042
lad..
My 59. Another LEO trade in, the wraparounds came with the gun. Lots of holster and use wear. I'm sure the last owner had more than a few good stories.
>>28660694
No problem at all my friend. Pay us back with pictures of your project.
>>28649056
in the 70's, so-called "pinto" finished guns were in vogue. Smith & Wesson had the option of having it one at the factory and some gunsmiths would nickle plate barrels and cylinders to give the same effect. Your gun might be a factory job and S&W might have records of the work. If not, it may have been done by a gunsmith. A third option is that the original owner might have had issues with galling, as many early stainless pistols did. To remedy this, he may have mixed and matched a blued slide onto his stainless frame

Trucks and hard labor are gay.

My grandfather was a cop in illinois in the early to mid 1970's. He carried a model 59, same gun as the model 39 but with double stack mag, for a while as well as a Model 10 revolver.
>>28661131
haha holy fucking god people actually drink that pirate swill, me and my room mate in the marines took turns downing a bottle of sailor jerry and all I remembered was banging on other peoples doors until someone opened and then I puked in their toilet, went back to my room and my room mate was passed out on top of my pizza yet under my bed.
>>28661050
How much are these going for these days? Assuming a prime 39-2 unfired from the 70's. A200XXX number.
>>28665629
About $700-$800
>>28663128
Thanks for the info. Really might have to get that S&W history report after all.
>>28665985
God damn really? Thought my old man got swindled for his but I guess he didn't do too bad.
