Do you ever feel like you are being manipulated by the NRA?

They've been painting this narrative that guns are under attack and they are the great defense against it. But the 2nd amendment assures that never happens anyways. After Obama's executive actions you see they are acting like you are under attack...even though it has no effect on you (besides getting your background check faster... so it's a benefit to you). His actions are so minor that even Obama himself said it won't do much to stop gun violence (if anything).

Why do people let the NRA control how they think?
>>
>>28495195
The doctor shit and the SS/SSI shit is gonna fuck tons out of there guns.
>>
>>28495195
> Agreeing with the NRA == Mind Control
> Agreeing with Liberal Lies == Free Thought
>>
Question, is it worth it and what do you get out of NRAing?
>>
>>28495195
fear mongering has and always will be an important part of the weapons industry, just learn to check the facts before panic buying.
>>
>Lol no really guys they aren't coming for your guns.

Several high ranking Senate members, AG Eric Holder, and other Democrat politicians have argued for exactly that you idiot. Fuck, there's an Assault Weapons Ban in the House RIGHT now that would force confiscation.

Obama himself has said that only the ignorant cling to their "guns and religion" and is now trying to placate the majority of Americans who believe in self defense by making up a story about "Michelle wanting a shotgun." Or whatever.

Do you millennials not realize we've effectively HAD gun grabber legislation in this nation? It wasn't until 2004, that it finally sunset.
>>
>>28495195
the NRA are pussies that bend over backwards for certain bans and regulations because they're still controlled by the government. Gun Owners of America is where its at
>>
>>28495195
I'm a hasguns, been so for a very long time, CCW, regular shooter all that stuff

I would never join the NRA, I refuse to support any lobbyist, even if they bribe in my interests.

I am okay with what Obama put forth and more, would be completely okay with a master list or registry.

I am a law abiding gun owner and refuse to be manipulated. I am not afraid.
>>
>>28495195
>currently an AWB being proposed by the senate

>hurr we are not under attack ,please quit your NRA membership and join every town for gun safety

fuck off.
>>
>>28495215
Not exactly, though I think the, "There are only two sides and no middle ground" idea you exemplify is another example of the widespread manipulation (not mind control). Can you name three things you like that Obama has done in 8 years?

Off topic, though, since that's a discussion for another thread.

>>28495225
When did the mass forced gun confiscation taken place in the countries history? I must be a millennial that wouldn't remember it happening.
>>
>Obama regularly comes for your guns
>Can't do anything
>Eventually does something he can actually do
>People just don't want more gun laws
>WTF YOUR NRA IS LYING TO U IT DOESNT DO ANYTHING HES NOT COMING FOR UR GUNS
>>
>>28495207
Yep this. Even if not right away it establishes a process and reporting mechanism that could be easily abused/expanded later.
>>
>>28495195

While the NRA is melodramatic in it's approach, and they certainly lean toward the "worst case scenario", any gun owner that doesn't chip in with them and other 2A organizations should simply be brought out back and shot behind the barn.

The most common argument I see on this board is "muh junk mail", and if throwing away an envelope or two each week is too much work, than again, I need to show you something out back, behind the barn.

If you don't like the NRA, for whatever contrived pathetic reasons (fudds, corporate shills, didn't protect 7n6), then at least look at The 2nd Amendment Foundation, Gun Owners of America, or your State's primary gun Lobby.

Personally, I'm a life member of every organization listed above, plus Knife Rights.
In spite of Life membership, I still throw each org a few hundred each year.

WHY?

Because I accept that there are people who want all guns to go away forever, and they are willing to work for it.
>>
>>28495294
so basically no, but my paranoia tells me someday it could change into something bad?
>>
>>28495195
Not really no. Obama said himself that his objective is to make guns more expensive. If anything is manipulating me into supporting the NRA it is the liberals calling them terrorists.

Would I rather there be a better pro gun lobbying group that would support our rights better? Sure. But as of right now the NRA has the most capital and power to do so.

Also the fact that Obama, Bernie, Hilary, senate dems, and house dems are all calling for an AWB makes me support the NRA and unlikely to vote for any dems
>>
>>28495195
Go shill elsewhere, democrat.
>>
>>28495261
No forced confiscation has been attempted yet. But a registration with the inability to transfer ownership upon death was a central part of the last major push for control. This is a 20-50 years from now guaranteed restriction of rights.
>>
>>28495261
I don't know if this would fit your definition of "mass forced confiscation", but there was some seriously fucked up things happening during Hurricane Katrina.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-taU9d26wT4
>>
I'll give those hacks money when they actually support gun rights instead of muh hunting guns.
>>

Be careful what you wish for. You could be a cucked Canadian, Britbong, or Ausfailian gun owner that has to beg and grovel just to keep the non scary guns they have because they don't have a significant gun culture and a group like the NRA and GOA to effectively defend them.

You don't know what you are talking about.

The NRA uses AR's as prizes in fund raisers more than hunting rifles.

Most of the magazines I get from them have AR's on the cover.

Yes, they do talk about outdoor sports too, but not every shooter is into paramilitary stuff.

Before the last decade of tacticool wannabe's, hunters and outdoorsmen were the ones carrying this fight.

>But the 2nd amendment assures that never happens anyways.
NFA 1934, GCA 1968, FOPA 1986, AWB 1994
There are more but that should get you started.

>>28495220 >>28495233
The lobbyists fight for my interests. The AWB would still be in effect without the NRA preban ARs and AKs would cost close to 5k now, and we'd have about 5% of the current ARs and AKs that we currently own as Americans. I think it's worth it. If all you want is bolt guns then fine, don't join.

>>
>>28495261

You're moving goal posts, he said confiscation, not some singular door to door mass one time event as you seem to want to define it now.

There has been several ongoing confiscation schemes. The most infamous of which resulted from the hughes amendment. Similar schemes resulted from "assault weapon" bans in individual states. They'd require you to register it, then ban them, and then literally come to your house because you were on the list.

You're pretty much the stereotypical millennial; you have all the information in the world at your fingertips so you assume you know everything, but you only choose to search within the echo chamber you find most comfortable. In the end you become ignorant, arrogant, and less informed than those that came before you.

Maybe next time get out of your comfort zone instead of assuming you know everything because you exposed yourself to the bullshit you're comfortable believing.

I'm not a lawyer or mental health expert but this would be a good start:

A person who has been adjudicated as incompetent or involuntarily committed to a mental institution

Has been found not guilty by reason of insanity of enumerated violent felonies. A person who is found not guilty by reason of insanity of other crimes is barred from possessing firearms unless a court finds that the person has recovered his or her sanity

Confiscation CANNOT happen.
It's fucking ridiculous.

No President in their right mind would even think about it.
>>
>>28495834
It can, and it will, after death. Just like it's happening now. You can have x in California, but it is banned and is non transferable. You die, the state comes and takes them "from your cold dead hands" as someone once instructed the state to do.
>>
>>28495834
It can and has faggot. Do you possess a automatic weapon that wasn't properly registered and taxed? A family heirloom perhaps? Confiscated. You are jailed.
Did you register and submit tax for a SBR a few years ago and put it in the safe? Get caught across the state line at your family's cabin without asking? Confiscated. Jail.
Does your dad have a state level registered "assault weapon" and then he dies? In the sorrow of cleaning out the house you take some guns home? Jail. Confiscated.

You have to study this shit. Know what's going on before making sweeping generalizations
>>
>>28495914
This is the same system that was tried to be implemented on all "assault weapons" nationwide after sandy hook. So stay ever vigilant
>>
>>28495195
The NRA kinda sucks but does slightly more good than bad. They tend to only care about domestically produced guns and mfgs and will often avoid protecting our rights to own foreign guns. That being said there is yet another AWB on the table. Our rights are very much under attack and if you think for one minute that the gov/dems aren't going to continue to push legislation you are dreaming.

This is a long haul fight.
>>
>>28495315
Just because you trust the current elected leaders does not mean you will trust the next ones.

Remember that power you grant to the government will not go away when the elections don't go your way.
>>
>>28495882
>>28495914
That's not what I meant and you know it.
They're just not coming for our guns on our doorstep, like so many believe.
>>
>>28496055
The net result takes generations, but the net result IS THE SAME THING!
See: >>28495914
>>
>>28496055
Why else would they need a registry?
>>
>>28496055
Yes, they will.

CA has a task force going door to door. They're discussing the crimes which make you ineligible for guns to include misdemeanors. Once they do, they will come door to door and confiscate guns from anyone who falls under their new laws. They'll also come door to door and take your guns if a family member says you're a threat - no crime needs to be committed.

Liberals say shit can't happen that IS happening. The level of retardation to state this kind of thing is truly insane.
>>
>>28496055
Your right, confiscation has to happen slowly, politicians know that, I know that, there is fear mongering because try to get someone to act that will only effect their kids. 50 years is a long time, 1934 was a long time ago. It happened, and fucked us (more so 1986). I believe that if we don't keep up the fight there will be a slow confiscation. It won't effect me much. I care about my kids, and my country.

The NRA does jack fucking squat besides support domestic gun manus' interests. Second Amendment Foundation does all of the real work for litigation and NSSF does the most teaching.

You NRA cucks must live in states where they'd hang your reps out to dry for supporting anti gun legislation with or without the NRA. Here in New Jersey they have a monopoly on our gun clubs and bleed us dry for money yet never do anything to support our gun owning community. We've had extremely effective grassroots efforts that the NRA has outright refused to support because they have such a racket going here.

Ask a NJ gun owner if the NRA is a good organization and they'll say "Who?". Our low funded grassroots organizations like the New Jersey Second Amendment Society have done thousands times more than the NRA has done in any state, outside of funding lavish entertainment conferences with member dues. Fuck the NRA. They only support domestic gun manufacturers' interests and don't give a fuck about helping you. Hell, they let 7n6 get banned but freaked about M855.

Just as it's his objective with energy prices, with the dream of destroying fossil fuels and forcing everybody to the farcical "green energy" revolution that's been just around the corner for 50 years.

Obongo is an "evolutionary" communist, as opposed to revolutionary communists of the past. Their goal is to reshape the way people go about their lives by undermining true choice. By punishing individuals for making choices contrary to their will, they seek to antagonize people into not making those choices anymore. When nobody can make those choices anymore, because the penalties are too burdening, it's just as good as a defacto ban.

Take a look at how a lot of totalitarian states came to be. A lot of the rhetoric of why things ended up turning to shit was the belief that you thought you were a good citizen with nothing to hide.

Are you following all firearm storage laws? Not just federal requirements (if any) but also state, county, and city requirements.

That's just one example. And we do have hundreds of laws that are no longer enforced but are still on the books. Google "weird laws" and you'll find a list or two about it.

Anderson - "Mr. President the people are worried you will try and take guns because you literally said you are going to try and use executive orders to pass a Australian style firearm confiscation".

Hussein Obungo - "I ate elk meat up in Canada! You are a conspiracy theorist if you want to keep your guns!"

I think even Anderson wanted to join Pink Pistols at that point.

Yes it is under attack and they will always try to pretend they aren't trying to get rid of it when they are. Take it from me, a fucking lefty.

Bernie will spend his political capital on breaking up the Too Big To Fail banks and insurance cos, Hillary will spend her political capital on attacking the 2nd amendment, she has no interest in going after her friends on Wall Street. ANYBODY BUT HILLARY - VOTE BERNIE

It's basically like any other one-issue lobbying group, anything a politicians says at a campaign rally, any doomed bill in any state is a UNPRECEDENTED AFFRONT TO THE IDEALS OF LIBERTY THIS NATION WAS FOUNDED UPON.

It's the same with marijuana-legalization, environmentalism, etc.

>>
I'd rather reluctantly support the NRA (fuck you stupid cunts, supporting Hughes, NFA, and import bans) than have groups like Everytown, Mom's Demand Action, and CTSGV (formerly known as Coalition to Ban Handguns) take away my firearms, as they try to do constantly.

Take New York, California, and even recently Washington for example.

New York started out with a simple AWB similar to that which was passed federally under thr Clinton administration. Then they went further, with a registry, and even more restrictions on the AWB, even tighter mag caps... and then the SAFE Act. Now there's a law, which has quite a large chance to pass being proposed which would limit ammo you could buy to 14 rounds per 3 months. Anti-Gun groups keep saying that this is "one more step to make America a safer place".

California just enacted a law which could have your guns stripped away with no due process.

Washington first passed I-594 which was universal background checks, and now they're facing an assault weapons ban which also has a large chance of passing thanks to Seattle.

Give an inch, and anti-gunners take a mile. We've "compromised" our rights away repeatedly, and we're tired of it.
>>
>>28495195
>But the 2nd amendment assures that never happens anyways.

Plenty of "reasonable" anti gunners openly express their desire for the elimination of the 2nd Amendment.

>"one more step to make America a safer place"

Then a bunch of nigs with illegal handguns in NYC (which has the worst gun laws in the country) go around robbing and raping defenseless people. The worst part is the nigger politicians in NYC have the strictest gun laws, yet they create more laws and impose them on the rest of the state, and will never hold their own nigger constituents responsible. They're always good boys dindu nuffin. It's pretty damn obvious niggers are trafficking guns from gangs in the south and not buying them in wealthy white neighborhoods surrounding NYC.

>There is no narrative. Guns are absolutely, undeniably, under attack by leftists.

Take the word "leftists" and replace it with "anti-American marxists/communists" and you'll have a better picture of just who's behind this.

America is under attack by these traitors and one of them has even infiltrated the white house, masquerading as the president for the past 7 years.

You need to remember to label them as such. "Leftists" is a general buzzword they can hide behind. Calling them "marxists/communists" labels them for what they truly are.

No. The fortunate situation is that i do not live in the country where they have power.
The unfortunate situation is also that i do not live in the country where they have power.

>They've been painting this narrative that guns are under attack and they are the great defense against it.
Cue the Hillary Clinton quote about our gun laws being a great model to use. Cue most other Democrats, if not at least 90% of them, agreeing with or parroting this or something like it.

Cue the ACLU, supposedly fighting for civil rights, being either silent or against gun rights.

Cue the NRA being the only well-known group fighting for the civil rights of gun owners.
GOA and JPFO, etc, aren't known to outsiders.

On the face of it requiring people to be able to read to vote is a good idea, but look at how that was abused.

It's pretty great, I'm a senior in high school and I have an NRA sticker on my car and truck, and frequently wear my NRA jacket or Glock jacket. The butthurt I get from the assistant principal who personally ended our rifle team, and my own guidance counsellor who said that she's afraid of me shooting up the school.

It's not like I go around the school saying I'm going to shoot up the place, I'm an anti-social introvert who hangs out with a bunch of nerds who play DOTA and Warframe.

I hope college won't be awful though, I can't see how anti-gun Texas A&M will be.

Currently at A&M. Howdy motherfucker.

College fucking sucks. Less friends, stuck with a roommate, stupid traditions, and more work. All while costing a metric fuckton. Luckily I got FASFA, in state tuition (from Louisiana), and some other scholarships.

But everyone I've met has been some sort of sportsman. Whether it be fishing or hunting. My suite mates are bro tier, even if my roommate is a nigger.

Only because ordinary people, and groups like the NRA, fight tenaciously to stop them. If that fight slacks off for even a moment, those rights go away.

Second amendment rights have been infringed for decades on college campuses. Now administrators, faculty, and students are all calling for the repeal of first amendment rights.

The liberties you take for granted are far more fragile than you think.
>>
>>28502104

The book "Three Felonies a Day" documents this in detail, with supporting evidence. Written by a law professor.
>>
Both the NRA and Gun Control activists/political groups constantly fear monger, to the point where it's obnoxious.

The only difference is that one of these groups tells blatant lies and wants to take away our rights at every available opportunity, whereas the other wants to preserve and further our rights. But I suppose to combat the rabid aggression towards the Second Amendment that anti-gunners possess and use to push their ideals, groups like the NRA have to take a similar stance and make people view every little thing as a threat. Otherwise, more and more shit eventually passes under the guise of "compromise".
>>
>>28495255
Exactly. Same complacent, do nothing line of thought as asking, "Why not let the NSA spy on us? I don't have anything to hide." Give them an inch and the government will take all your rights within a mile.
>>
It must be awful living with so much fear, believing that your liberties and freedoms are under some kind of super secret attack by the government.

As much as I hate some of the NRA politicing that they do (like keeping tons of milsurp out of the country) without them we would be as no guns as Australia
