Drones are a hot topic this holiday. I have a computer whiz friend who knows a lot about automation. I am an engineering student and we had a funny conversation about attaching a 10/22 to a drone and go do some plinking with it. All jokes aside, what is stopping others from doing this now? I only ask this because I watched a news report about the rise in drone sales and the alphabet soup buearu of canada for transportation has said they generalized the rules surrounding drones and they are now thinking of asking people to register their drones

PART 4PROHIBITED DEVICES
Former Prohibited Weapons Order, No. 9
1. Any electrical or mechanical device that is designed or adapted to operate the trigger mechanism of a semi-automatic firearm for the purpose of causing the firearm to discharge cartridges in rapid succession.

>A remote trigger would be a prohibited device.

Fly a drone with a gun on it surprisingly legal AFAIK
http://www.tc.gc.ca/media/documents/ca-standards/Info_graphic_-_Flying_an_umanned_aircraft_-_Find_out_if_you_need_permission_from_TC.pdf
>>
>>28454272
What if we followed the whole, "3 sec between shot" rule some places have? It only says its prohibited if you use it for rapid fire.
>>
>>28454313
"rapid succession" is not defined in the firearms act or criminal code as a kind of catch all clause on trigger devices.
>>
>>28454267
That is the law in the states. Commercial or recreational drones need to be registered. At least thats whatthey said comparing Canada drone laws to the US
>>
>>28454337
So basically;
>Flying a drone with a gun on it surprisingly legal
AFAIK
>>
>>28454385
Yeah its just the firing of the firearm by use of a remote trigger that is the problem
>>
>>28454349

Daily reminder that the government literally kicked the doors of innocent Canadians and forcibly stole their firearms and ammo with zero intention of ever giving any of it back, and many of those people still have no gotten their firearms back.
>>
>>28454430
Or will or will even get reimbursed for their doors.
>>
>>28454434
I was told that the people were instructed to leave their doors unlocked when they were evacuated, and if they didn't, their door got bashed and it's on them to fix it.
>>
>>28454408
How about this- get an old Remington 700 trigger pack- get a faulty one that can fire when the trigger is pulled and then it is taken off safe. Pull the trigger on the ground with the safety enabled.

In the air, when you press a button, the safety is disengaged and the gun fires once. Return to base to fire again.

The RCMP did nothing wrong at High River. It's better that the police take possession of those dangerous weapons rather than leaving them for criminals to loot from the deserted homes.

>>
>>28456114

I've been reading and maybe someone here can clarify.

The liberal campaign specifically mentions returning the classification power to the RCMP. Does that mean they currently don't hold that power or just that they can currently be overruled?

While I don't think they would jump right back to reclassifying those same rifles I worry they'll start with pistol/rifle magazines.
>>
>>28456192
They currently cannot reclassify anything that has held a classification for the period of one year. (Bill C-42)
>>
>>28456192
The vast majority of all classifications are currently, and have been since the 90's era gun control laws were passed, in the control of the RCMP. Prior to C-42, the government could reclassify (or preclassify as the case may be) any gun to restricted or prohibited. After C-42, this power extended to allow classifications to non restricted, and prevented reclassifications from the RCMP after a period of 1 year from the initial classification.

From the Vancouver Sun, some stats on murder in Canada:
>Canada's homicide rate remains at lowest levels in almost five decades

http://www.vancouversun.com/news/canadas+homicide+rate+remains+lowest+levels+almost+five/11543434/story.html

>Overall, police services across the country reported 516 killings in 2014

> Guns were more frequently used — 156 times — but the overall rate of gun killings was at its second-lowest level in 40 years.

>Overall, when the crimes were solved, most victims — 83 per cent — knew their killers, data show — a situation that has long been the case.

>Acquaintances posed the biggest threat, followed by relatives. Current or ex-spouses were blamed in 83 cases or 16 per cent of all homicides, with women four times more likely than men to die at the hands of partners.

The only bits that we're missing is how many of the murders committed with firearms were done with legally held NR/R/Prohib versus stolen or smuggled guns, and how many were done by people legally allowed to own a gun.

At least canada post attempts deliveries everytime i get something from UPS they never buzz me when im home and they just leave a notice in the front of the building only for me to have to drive 45 min to their warehouse and then wait there another hour before they get to me. and fuck their broker fees. I once didn't have 2 dollars to give them which they said i owe for brokers fees and it didn't say on the notice slip . I had to drive home then come another day.

I get packages like that too, though it's happened with various different couriers, not just Canpar.

Couriers have many different customers. Most of them are industrial. Factories and warehouses are notorious for their dust and soot, so it's no surprise that some packages are covered in it.

Even if the debris isn't from your vendor, there's always a chance another customer's package rubbed off on yours. Also, many couriers, not just Canpar, make terrible hiring decisions when choosing their drivers, so who knows how badly these packages have been abused during loading, mid-transit, and unloading. Ample opportunity for dust to kick up in the back of the truck, even from rough, reckless driving.

Yes, their service is rather bad compared to other Canadian firearms retailers.

It took them two weeks to initiate my order. Other places would have already charged my credit card and shipped my goods within days, but Marstar took two weeks to just get started on it.

Their website is also poorly maintained. This is highly concerning because Marstar claims to be one of Canada's most influential firearms retailers. They have various industrial and military connections, and yet their online storefront is dogshit. A lot of shit is out of stock, but they'll take their sweet fucking time to manually update their pages.

I've seen a better maintained website from a much smaller business that I'm convinced is run by two or three slavs with very poor English skills huddled in a warehouse. Their stock updated real-time (so if you bought a nugget from them, and it said "3 in stock" on the item page, it will go down to "2 in stock" after you've clicked "Submit").

I also don't think they know how to ship. They charged me shipping separately for the same order. They sent my rifle via Canada Post ($40), and my ammo via UPS ($60). I paid one hundred dollars in shipping alone.

In comparison, I also bought a firearm and lots of ammunition at the same time with another store, and they charged me $30 UPS shipping.

Conclusion: Fuck Marstar. I will never do business with them ever again unless they have something really interesting.

Still doesn't make sense. They could've just shipped the firearm together with the ammunition through UPS.

Also, what are volume discounts. Couriers usually offer a discount rate to businesses, which makes shipping affordable to customers.

It makes no sense that I had to pay $60 to ship ammo through UPS and $40 to ship a firearm through Canada Post.

Again, the one time I didn't shop with Marstar, I only paid $30 to ship a firearm AND ammunition through UPS.

I don't know if I'd completely write of UPS based on that one experience though.

First attempt was a fail because your friend was at work, therefore unavailable to sign for it at home.

Based on this incident alone, one can easily deduce that should there be another delivery attempt, results will be similar. The driver doesn't know when you are and aren't home. Hell, it might not even be the same driver the next time around.

When a delivery has been unsuccessfully attempted, they'll usually leave a note at your door. Should you get one of these, you should call the number on the note. Call the number and get something arranged. Maybe arrange a different delivery time. They're not gonna know when is a good time unless you tell them when. Hell, offer to pick it up from one of their offices. That way, your package won't move around, it'll just stay there, waiting for you.

If you don't like what's happening, you gotta stand firm and tell them that it's not working out for you. If you just sit around and do nothing, just waiting until they magically get it right, only for them to return to sender, then no surprise that it happened.

The movement is fucking retarded even without that. They use false legal loopholes and archaic and inapplicable law to try to convince the government that they are not subject to its authority, despite the fact that this law is written, interpreted, and enforced by that same government. It's like playing a game with a child who gets to set and change all the rules at will; you can never win, because the entire game is rigged against you.

If you disagree with the government, just call yourself an anarchist or minarchist. Those political philsophies have existed for centuries, and there are a great many arguments for each of them, none of which involve screaming "am i being detained", calling yourself a "traveller", and citing vaguely-related 18th century admiralty law.

44 special no as the cartidge was designed in 1907 after the antique time period cut-off.

Could you guys plz name some choice antique firearms that are legal under the Canadian system...outlined in that thread I made that no one wants to fucking post in lol

I have a cousin who is like a bull dyke farm girl with absolutely zero reason and logic, who starts dramas in the family over almost nothing at all and is petty and on twitter etc.. and she joined the RCMP.

Not very high standards is all I can say, probably like in the US where they turn you down if youre too smart.

So whats the deal with the ammunition, Im guessing the law excludes all modern types and its a pain in the ass to refill them or something?

Also, more suggestions that arent 2k would be nice lol
>>
>>28471591
Anything less than 2k is in rimfire calibers or even worse pinfire. And 44 russian is an antique caliber and reloads as easily as anything else, same with 41lc
>>
>>28471598

Well I mean the antique ammunition obviously is pretty rare, do people make modern reproductions of old ammunition styles for reasonable prices?

I dont know much about guns, I understand rimfire is less optimal as compared to center fire, but I wouldnt rule it out entirely.

How about some shotguns? Availability of ammunition and suggestions etc
>>
>>28471609
Yes you can get modern production 38 rimfire, 41lc, and 44russian, it doesn't need to be actually antique, and most antique shotguns are muzzle loaders or Damascus steel and need brass shells otherwise they'll explode
>>
>>28471630

So where would you get brass shells, and would you need to fill them yourself?

Not really, can't charge you with firearms crime if you aren't using a firearm
>>
>>28467069
AK pouches are actually smaller, the only AK mag pouches that I've heard will reliably fit VZ58 mags are the East German ones.
>>
>>28472031
An antique firearm is treated as a regular firearm if used to commit a crime.
>>
>>28472187
Not a crime to defend yourself if you're about to be killed. No sane jury would convict someone of defending themselves with a 100+ year old obsolete revolver. Some how a 75 year old semi obsolete pistol is worse cause it semi auto and more dangerous.
>>
>>28472203
HD with a firearm is legal, but don't assume you can legally carry an antique because "it's really, REALLY old, guyz!" You think more people wouldn't carry if that was the case?
So if we're referring to HD, I have better guns for that. And antique or not, CC is illegal, and you will get screwed for it. So I'll carry my preferred pistol, thanks.

As long as you load the mag wearing gloves and sprint several kilometres without a break it doesn't matter what you carry, it's only illegal if you get caught. And I doubt the rcmp would aggressively pursue a case of chief alcohol syndrome the meth dealer being shot to death in a shady part of city, if your not retarded you'll get away, probably more than once

Serious inquiry:
You can't have something for the purpose of defending yourself but you CAN use items to defend yourself, right?

So you could in theory have some reproduction scutum and a long hard phallus shaped object for defense and when questioned, you can say you had them around because you're into Roman LARPing. Complete with battles and orgies.

This is possible, right?
>>
>>28472307
Yeah, owning something for the express purpose of defending yourself is illegal, however you can use whatever is on hand to defend yourself if attacked.

Alright, then to play Devil's advocate: the problem with legalizing weed is that people who wouldn't try it when it was illegal will now be more likely to do so. We saw this in the US with Prohibition- contrary to many views, alcohol consumption decreased during Prohibition and increased afterwards. It will also be easier for the underaged to toke up.

This is troubling because there are several studies that strongly suggest marijuana is not a good thing for developing brains. It's one thing for an adult to smoke up but another entirely for a teen. Also, modern marijuana has much higher THC and CBD content than older strains, and again the effects of this higher concentration can be a concern for certain vulnerable people. From Wikipedia:

"... a number of reviews have concluded that cannabis use only results in a significant increase in risk of psychosis when coupled with additional risk factors, in particular, an underlying genetic vulnerability."

In other words, we have a greater chance of exposing people with that greater risk of psychosis if we legalize marijuana (leading to increased use).

There, an argument.

>>
>>28472753
Yeah, also note that having loaded mags is legal, as long as it isn't in your gun.
>>
>>28473287

I see. Always thought you were going to get ass fucked for using firearms for self defense.
>>
>>28473306
No, but it will still suck, you want to be able to convince the prosecutors you were in fear of your life when you shot (IE you have to shoot them in the front so they can't say they were retreating) and expect to get charged with by law on the book which will steadily be dropped as the court date approaches and you continue to refuse plea bargains.
>Don't take the plea bargains unless you think you'll actually lose in court, but remember that self defense with a gun is legal if you thought your life was in danger.
>>
>>28472701
>>28472831
I'm not really worried about the physical part, its more the nitty bitty details, inspections, drill, etc
>>
>>28472528
Im not sure about that. Seeing some of the previous posts in this thread on the subject begs to differ.
>>
>>28472606
Id say that its just as easy for kids to get ahold of it now with sales being in the hands of shady individuals. Legalization would bring stronger regulation and stiffer penalties for people who provide it to minors.

Right now there is no "legal age" for marijuana so there is no seperate law regarding kids in possession of it or it being sold to them.
>>
>>28474208
It's slightly harder now because it's generally harder to get weed than if it was legal for an adult to buy. Legalization takes out the first hurdle for an adult to sell to a minor- getting the marijuana in the first place.

> Legalization would bring stronger regulation and stiffer penalties for people who provide it to minors.

We could have stiffer penalties for giving marijuana to a minor now even if it's still illegal for an adult. We could just create a separate offense- giving weed to a kid- and add an appropriately stiff sentence on top of the possession of weed charge.

But beyond that, if we legalize marijuana for adults but keep it illegal for the underaged, we still have the crime problem.
>>
>>28474289
Don't forget DUI charges need to be formatted for legal weed to work, namely was is the legal level of THC in the blood for driving (equivalent to a BAC) and how do you detect it in a roadside setting.

You have nothing to worry about. You have to be literally retarded to fail BMQ, and even then they'll try their hardest to push you through. It's a fucking joke.

>But beyond that, if we legalize marijuana for adults but keep it illegal for the underaged, we still have the crime problem.
If we look at the way underage people acquire cigarettes, we can see that this does not follow. Rather than having to go specifically to an illicit cigarette dealer, any teen can simply ask one of his friends' older siblings or acquaintances and get straw-purchased cigs no problem. Same with alcohol. And we can expect the same to happen with marijuana.

So while it is true that there will still be "crime" in the sense of illegal straw purchases, it will not be the same kind of crime associated with drugs today (ie. organized crime and gang-violence).

That's right, but we still end up with the problem of more young people using marijuana and the attendant risks associated with marijuana use and developing brains.

Anyways, that's about all the Devil's Advocate I can handle for now. I think I would find it very amusing if weed users had to jump through the same hoops as gunowners, however.

There is just short of 8000 people in a facebook group promoting the petition that started a month ago so expect at least 8000 signature. I'll be spamming it to anyone bro enough to sign guns or no guns.

I've done my part, but I won't hold my breath that this will actually accomplish anything, especially with Justin "Empower the Police" Trudeau in charge.

I would absolutely love for ARs to become NR. I wish I could be given a reason for why it's Restricted and so stigmatized, but antis literally can't think of anything other than "it looks like the automatic M4 that the military uses, so therefore it IS one". I want someone who is passionately anti-guns to sit down with me and carefully explain using actual, fact-based reasons why the AR15 specifically needs to be so controlled.
>>
>>28477208
The AR got caught in the push to ban ALL semi autos that looked like military guns.
It took lobbying from the shooting sports to get it simply restricted.
>>

The best part is how mad they are over ACRs XCRs and VZ58s

Oh, and anything that has ever personally scared me; it should be banned, because if it looks a certain way and hurts my faggot bitch nigger feelings, it shouldn't be allowed.

Weed isnt harder for kids to get now just because its illegal. Just like alcohol or tobacco kids can get it pretty easily through other kids at school and relatives.
