Opinions on this?
Swedish, looks like an Uzi, is designed as a PDW that can serve an LMG type role as well as conventional firearm role and supposedly has an effective range of up to 400m.

Sounds stupid to me.
>>
Depends if it works as stated. If so, its the opposite of stupid. If not, it is stupid redefined and a gimmick to boot.
>>
>>28399536
That the one with the 6.5mm saboted tungsten penetrator that penetrates lightly armored vehicles like it was cheese?
If so it is far from stupid.
>>
Uzi with forward grip.
>>
>>28399563
it is, scary fucker.
>>
>>28399563
Do you have any info on how well it worked on soft targets?
>>
>>28399576
IIRC there was a "Spoontip" round designed to tumble like crazy.
Will try too find the page, it was a long time ago i read about this.

Here is the only page i have found with decent information on it.

Yes, thats the one
>>
It's straight blowback, basically an SMG. They show it off like it punches holes better than rifles but its AP ammo only out-penetrates "standard ball" ammo. Get a regular 5.56 rifle with actual AP ammo and it'd shit on the necked-down sabot 9mm ammo that the CBJ-MS has.

The drum mag looks nice, although maybe not to carry around. Stock looks like shit, like any other wire stock. And the charging handle looks like crap.

Not really impressed. Just another SMG in a necked cartridge trying to pass off as an adequate replacement for intermediate rifles. Stack it on the pile with all the other PDWs
>>
>>28399622
I would like to see how it would handle testing in the military, all the info I've seen is from the manufacturer
>>
>>28399622
>Stack it on the pile with all the other PDWs
The difference between this and the other PDWs is that this one actually penetrates armor at 300m with little difficulty.
How accurate it is at that range is another question.

Also i do not think anyone is suggesting to replace full size rifles or carbines with this, more for use by tank crews and others with limited storage space. (And limited use for a full size rifle)
>>
>>28399642
Room to room clearing would be interesting. 100 round mags in an AP smg, no need to reload
>>
>>28399641
This is true, independent testing would be very interesting.
Doesn't matter if it can penetrate body armor at 300m if you can't hit shit with it, or if it is unreliable in operation.

>>28399647
Yeah, and unless there is concrete walls you can just spray the next room down through the wall.

>That the one with the 6.5mm saboted tungsten penetrator that penetrates lightly armored vehicles like it was cheese?

So why not just develop tungsten sabots for 5.56 or 7.62? Then you'd get the same sort of penetration in a more useful system such as a carbine or an actual LMG.
If so it is far from stupid.

[Citation needed]
>>28399595
And I wonder how a spoontip on a bullet effects accuracy, or armor penetration for that matter.
>>
>>28399622
They're not trying to sell their pdw, they're trying to market the ammunition, dipshit. Which is obvious if you knew anything about the company. Get learned.
>>
>>28399696
One of the large selling points is how compact it is and how many rounds you.could fit in a small(ish) drum mag. It is a kind of PDW wich could ill most roles after all.

Dont think it's meant to serve as an lmg, and i doubt shooting 400m with such a light round would be that great...

>The standard saboted tungsten ball round can pierce 9 mm of armor plate and leave a 6 mm diameter entry hole when fired from a 300 mm length barrel.
intredasting
>>
>>28399696
We have tungsten rounds for 5.56 and 7.62. Hell, the same company even markets tungsten sabot rounds in 7.62 and .300 blackout.

http://www.cbjtech.com/sida.asp?sida=3_7.62%20CBJ
>>
>>28399696
Also, they did make one 300BLK and one 7.62x51 verion as well (most likely still prototypes)

Yeah but come on, it would be much more useful to have such ammunition be available to combat troops rather than guys with SMGs.

I agree, and i would REALY like to see their 300BLK (posted a picture a few posts above) put through some serious testing by the military

pretty much

I like it.

It's a great idea for a suppressive weapon - if it has quick change barrels.

You can see the actual copper and lead from the ball ammo on the steel plate.
>>
>>28399536
Its a gimmick.
Just look at the fucking thing, the bipod, the pistol cartridge. This thing being anything close to a LMG is just a joke.
>>
>>28400364
The question is not if 7.62 and 5.56 AP can penetrate, it is if a small PDW can provide better performance from the same form factor as a 9mm subgun.
This ofc requires special ammunition.
>>
>>28400425
The question is how stupid you have to be to take this 'test' picture seriously >>28399615

If they shot 6.5 ball it would have the same result as the 7.62 and 5.56. And visa versa.
>>
>>28399536
That's a sexy little pistol. Yet another thing that won't be imported because our legislators are fucking retarded....

>If they shot 6.5 ball it would have the same result as the 7.62 and 5.56. And visa versa.
Ofc, but what relevance does it have?
This is not meant to compete with a full size rifle, it is meant to replace pistols and SMGs for armored crews and other units that require a compact weapon mainly for self defense.

Also, how many soldiers carry tungsten core AP rounds as standard load anyway?
For GPMGs it is fairly common but in a standard infantry squad?
>>
>>28400528
>Ofc, but what relevance does it have?
What relevance does it have to set up a test so it seems 6.5 outperforms the other round when it does not?
If a product needs these misleading tricks as proof of concept it really does say enough.

When you want to give a squad AP capacity just give them M995 black tip ammo.
>>
I'd like to see how this fares from a pistol, LEOs/Mil might like a pistol capable of rekking for example a hiluxes engine block
>>
>>28400904
As with the FN FiveSeven compared to the P90 it would probably suffer badly.
>>
>>28400691
While i agree that it should probably have said that the 5.56 and 7.62 on that picture was FMJ, anyone that is in the market for a weapon in this caliber should be able to understand that themselves.
>>
>>28402410
So the picture serves no purpose other than too mislead.
This meme gun just screams "combatreform.org"
>>
>>28399536
Seems like a good idea. 5.7 pretty pleb tier. 6.5 can out penetrate it, and can be chambered into 9mm subguns with just a barrel swap. In terms of logistics that's a huge step up from fucking around trying to order a ton of P90's plus parts, and having to train everyone on how to use and maintain said P90's as well.

Having it replace 5.56 and 7.62 is retarded tho desu senpai. The idea of CBJ saboted rounds for rifles is interesting though.
