I prefer .460 S&W Magnum over the .500.

>>28381341
why?
>>28381300
Why u post 357
>>28381388
.460 is an extremely flat shooting handgun cartridge. It also provides the opportunity to shoot .45 Colt and .454 Casull if you so choose. Components for .460 reloading are also much easier to come by because its just an evolution of an earlier cartridge, whereas the .500 is still a bit of a niche. .460 is also much cheaper off the shelf. Quite often about half as much as .500S&W.

I got mine for $950 in box.
I've always wondered
How do the giant magnum rounds perform out of rifle barrels? If the leap in muzzle energy that .357 and .44 magnum make carries over then you could have some really serious stuff
>>28381274
I want a revolver in .950 JDJ so bad. If I ever win the lottery, I'll find a way.
>>28381588
H&R makes a Handi Rifle in .500 S&W. Can be had as cheap as $250 and you can load up to 700gr hardcast slugs for it that will destroy your shoulder and anything on the other end.
>>28381588
you'll probably break your wrists. plus a .950 jdj out of a short ass barrel would be incredibly useless.

Meant for >>28381586
>>28381588
you wouldn't even be able to fire it.
>>28381698
You could fire it, but only once.
>>28381990
If instead of a barrel you install a compensator you could do it.

I second this and concur. That's the reason I went with the .460 for my bivouac gun in bear country. You can load up or down as much as you need and everything is more available and cheaper.

>12 gauge revolver from china's black market

Who cares if it's useless? It's cool
>>28381698
Why? Some people aren't pussy's.
>>28382028
I thought handguns over .50 bore were illegal.
>>28382347
There is a sporting purpose clause that allows for larger than .5 diameter here in the US. That film though looks to have been shot in Europe.

In general, pistol rounds utilize fast burning powders which are meant to allow them to achieve their maximum velocity prior to leaving a pistol barrel. While a rifle cartridge will lose velocity out of a pistol barrel, a pistol cartridge may not necessarily gain much velocity out of a rifle barrel. For example, I think a 16" barrel only nets 9mm an extra 150 fps or so.
Does this count?
You suddenly have the ability to have a firearm designed for you, it can operate however you want regardless of any laws in the area that may affect you, you're basically exempt,
The only catch is that it has do be a higher caliber than 9mm, literally anything above it is fair game.
What do you magically gain?
Also limitless ammunition.
Here's my proof
Can't go wrong with a .44 magnum.

Man, a left handed Super Redhawk..

My camera flips the images, it is a regular redhawk.

>>28381575
Do you have trouble finding brass or do you just cut and resize .308 brass?
>>28381586
I know that .44 Magnum can get smoking pretty good out of a carbine. For example a 240 grain .44 Magnum that's running 1466 fps for 1145 ft lbs of muzzle energy will be rolling at 1935 fps out of a 20" barrel for 1995 ft lbs of muzzle energy.
I can't speak for the rest, but .50AE generally is loaded with slower pistol powders to reliably run the Desert Eagle's gas system.

meant to say out of a four inch barel for the first set of numbers.

Tempted to get a Ruger Blackhawk, I know someone who works at Ruger and gets employee discounts (40% off), only problem i see is ammo.

>>28381274
Is .357 Magnum big bore?
>>28382992
>>28385671
Technically, no. Big Bore is generally accepted to be .44 Caliber or larger. Though .41 Magnum sits right on the edge. OP's qualification of .50 Caliber or large eliminates a lot of Big Bore handgun calibers, though. There are two regular production .50 caliber cartridges, .50AE and .500 S&W Magnum. Other more limited production .50s are .500 Wyoming Express, .500 Linebaugh, .500 JRH and .50GI. All but .50 GI are considered "Super Magnums" while .50GI is a standard pressure cartridge.
