Might the British MBT LAW be the best man portable anti-tank weapon in the world?

>single shot disposable
>can be fired from small spaces
>kills MBTs
>defeats explosive reactive armour
>lightweight (12.5kg)
>cheap
>good range (600 metres)
>top attack
>>
>>28355558
Do I smell bait?
>It's swedish
Also actually trained with that thing, ask away.
>>
>>28355558

Nope. that would be the javelin, my boy.

Manufacturer: British
Used by: Britain
Place of origin: Britain
Main procurer: Britain

Sweden helped though, but nice try.

>>28355558

Also to continue, no, it dosent "defeat" ERA, tandem warheads do, this merely flies above the ERA. Just my opinions, but I think it has a few desing flaws, nothing big but still. Main sight is Acog, great sight and all but in a disposable weapon? Also the operator has to lock the damn thing for a few seconds before launch, not a big drawback, but I see no harm being able just to launch against say static targets. Really liked the capability to change from Over Top Attack to Direct Attack (OTA and DA)

sigh.
>>
>>28355633
...you are an idiot
>>
>>28355648

Even with DA you have to wait for a lock before firing? What if you just want to use it to smash a wall down?
>>
>>28355648

Can the missile be intercepted or stopped by a tank in any way?

Can it be used against fast moving targets or aircraft?

I thought the RPG-29 was the king of ATW
>>
>>28355673
Nope, still must lock-on, no impact detonator here.
Can't quote the other guy, posting with phone. Missile flies to target independently after locking, so jamming won't stop it. Not sure about newest active defense systems, but I'd say the missile flies well above the ADS envelope. Has theoretical capability to shoot down low flying helis, but it is not designed to this. Would not advise. Great against moving targets.
>>
>>28355558
What, so it's basically a SRAW that also has direct fire?
>>
>>28355558
Beats APILAS in everything. Fuck I hate that piece of shit
>>

Totally not a Swedish weapon.

This. How can French fries design so shitty weapon?

Idk mate

Ivan pls go

Is the MBT LAW the most powerful shoulder launched anti armor weapon in the active service right now? I know the Javelin is shoulder launch but is far more expensive and you have to deal with its cumbersome nature and the annoying process of cooling the control module.
>>
>>28356065

Effective firing range :

Rb 57 NLAW (MBT LAW) : 20 m to 600 m

FGM-148 : 75 to 2500 m

As far as a self-contained system it's probably the best.

Show me a situation in which an infantryman is going to identify and engage a tank at 2000+ metres?
>>
>>28356482
Probably about half of every Syrian webm you've seen?
>>
>>28356482
In every webm from Syria/Yemen if you're looking at the missile in the video for more than six-seven seconds the vehicle they're shooting it at least 2km away.
>>
>>28356482
I think you meant show you a situation past 600m considering the law is no longer considered effective.

Sweden designed it and made the part. All the 1984 lovers did was put the shit together.

Are you that kind of person that takes credit for putting IKEA furniture together?

You can quickly remove the optic after you fired the weapon.
Just like the javelin.

> Also the operator has to lock the damn thing for a few seconds before launch,
You don't HAVE to but if you want the ''guided'' mode you have to do that.
>>
>>28356724
Gustsav and the m136 are recoil less
>>
>>28355558

What sort of effect would this have on an Abrams?
>>
>>28356818
Would open it like a tin can.
>>
>>28356742

Are you the kind of person that considers Iphones to be made in America because they were designed in California?

Or thinks YETI shit is made in America because they designed it in Texas?

Or those T-shirts that are "designed" in the US, because they created the design on the front and emailed the picture of the design they wanted to the manufacturer?

>all of the above are completely manufactured in China/Southeast Asia

Would you call a BMW a German car if they gave the design for it to the Chinese and let them make them under license?
>>
>>28356975
Are you retarded?
>>
>>28356975

my point being its not a Swedish weapon.

It's a British weapon based on a Swedish design.

If it was actually made it Sweden the end result might be materially different.

Different countries are simply better at manufacturing things.
>>
>>28355687
No doubt that it's powerful, but it's not the King. It's heavy and has no guidance, making it very tricky against moving targets
>>
>>28356998

Do you not understand the importance of who manufactures your shit?

Walther PPK vs Bersa Thunder
>>
>>28356975
>Are you the kind of person that considers Iphones to be made in America because they were designed in California?

I would, if the parts where also made in California.
>>
I think the cost might be a trifle high.
>>
>>28355687
Its definitly starting to show its age but it will blow away any soviet era tank in most conflict zones its used to its not bad i guess.

Hey, I have the sight off one of those. I have 7 ACOGs, and this one is my second favorite, because of it's rarity. The reticule is an upside-down red chevron. Hard to believe they are considered "disposable". pic related

I'm not a robot

One more pic of sight for interest. That sight uses Trijicon's "special ring" geometry, so you can use a standard compact ACOG mount in place of the proprietary bracket from the NLAW. When using the sight, I removed the goofy rubber eyepiece, since it occluded peripheral vision too much. It was simple held on by some glue that didn't put up too much of a fight.
>>
>>28355648
Yes, it does defeat ERA. It's not HEAT, it's an EFP; so it doesn't need a second stage.

This is also why it's top attack; while EFPs have slower velocity which ignores ERA activation mechanisms, they also penetrate conventional armor worse than HEAT.
>>
>>28356452
>>28357192
It was good enough for the Abrams.
>>
>>28357025
>If it was actually made it Sweden the end result might be materially different.

So you don't actually know what the fuck you're talking about? The modern development is still done by Saab dynamics. Not in the UK but in sweden.

into the trash it and most manport launchers go

>It's a British weapon based on a Swedish design.

If by British you mean originally made by swedes then tested by the brits who then gave the swedes more specifications so that the swedes could design it and manufacture to meet those specifications?

Then yes. It's British.
