The PKM is a pretty iconic general purpose general machine gun that has seen extensive use in countless conflicts since the cold war.

Chambered in 7.62x54r, the design is as simple as it is rugged. Several advancements have been implemented but in the long run the design is relatively unchanged from the original.

Somewhat unique feature of this weapon is the fact that it feeds from right to left, as opposed to the more traditional method of many belt feds.

Top port for belt segments, bottom port for spent casings.

Disassembly begins with opening the top cover.

Here you can see the feed tray and feeding mechanism.

Bolt return spring and plate are removed and the bolt is retracted to the absolute rear of the receiver for removal.

Notice the cuts in the receiver railways for this to happen.

How much did that cost? It's in beautiful shape.
IIRC from an earlier thread, you said this was a full auto?
>>
>>28278794
>fire

>>
>>28278811
PKM only fired in full-auto, so it's SAFE then FIRE, which is really just full-auto.
>>
>>28278592
Do all PKMs feed from the right? I know,

But i've always seen the PKM fed from left to right in them.

>>
>>28278829
Yeah, it's a characteristic of Russian MG's. The PKM does it because the gas system is pretty much a Kalashnikov flipped upside down.
>>
>>28278874
I'm an illiterate when it comes to GPMG senpai~. Pls no bully
>>
>>28278903

Now that's interesting. Anyone mind explaining how the "feed tray" works? I am only accoustom to typical rifles/shotguns/pistols.

Bolt carrier has a grove in it that actuates the feed pawl, making the feed pawl advance and reset with the motion of the bolt.

Feed pawl positions round and belt in front of that "U" shaped hook on the bolt carrier laying on the feed tray.

Hook grabs one round and jams it out of the belt and into the chamber.

Round fired, cycle resets. Spent components ejected.

Get an SOT or build one from a parts kit.
>>
>>28278903
One of the reasons for it to feed from right it so that you can use your left hand to gather the links around your hand since it does not use disintegrating links.
>>
>>28278621
He always pops back in from time to time to do these

the non-disintegrating links have a small tap at the start of the link
you can use it to guide the link though the feed stray withou open the top cover
for me it is faster and more reliable than reload with a disintegrating link
