I built almost that exact rifle.

Don't do a true, rifle-gas dissipator - go with a mid-length.

The magpul furniture hides the real gas block 100%, and you won't have any unnecessary gas / reliability issues.

Depends on your OAL as far as I know. If 26"+ OAL, foregrips are not a legal issue, below that OAL however it is a pistol and a foregrip would make it an AOW.

The problem is determining whether the specific afg you have is an afg or a vertical grip. The only way to do that is to get a letter from BATFE telling you what the specific model is.

I drilled mine out and put on an adjustable gas block. 1/4 of a turn more gas for steel case and 1/4 back for brass. just don't go crazy and drill it out too far. start small you can always remove more material later

If you are using heaver rate and/or heavier buffer weight. The problem can be solved as easy as replacing them for lighter spring/buffer combo.

Otherwise... Decision should be made if you think you will shoot mostly close range and have no purpose assigned to the rifle with higher requirements for the lifespan of the barrell then yes enlarging gas port and continue using cheap ammo is best routine unless you plan to go in reloading before most of barrel life span is gone.

If i were you i would have had carbine gassed 16" first place for absolute reliability across all realistic range of ammo. so answer is yeah i would enlarge the gas port.
