So, I've been noticing that a lot of the content on /k/ is modern styled weapons, single/double-action, full autos, maybe the occasional off-topic (not a gun) thread. But, can we quickly just have some appreciation for break-action guns? I mean, without these, we wouldn't have some iconic weapons of media today: The Doom Super Shotgun, Ash Williams' BOOMSTICK, The Force-a-Nature in TF2 (sure, I'm lowballing there, but admittedly, it's still used a lot today)...
Showing here is a personal favorite of mine, the Thompson Arms Contender Gen. 2 (G2), which can be fitted for damn near any caliber bullet you need, ranging from .45, .22, .30-30, and more. This gun is so damn versatile, that you can use it for almost any scenario, provided you aren't trying to switch on the fly.

I like break action guns, but not because I give a shit about "iconic media weapons".
>>28095560
You don't own guns, do you
>>28095560
>tfw that guy from Hard-Boiled shoots at Tequila with contender

This doesn't have the Contender but fucking hell if it isn't one of the finest action sequences ever filmed.

I don't buy guns because movies
Also is it really worth it to buy a $300 barrel and $300 scope for each barrel?
I still have to go to the range every time I switch the barrels
>>28096445
I thought since the sights/scope was attached to the barrel you could remove it without losing zero.
How hard is it to change barrels, they dont just come off like a break action shotgun?
>>28096445
cute dog anon
What is the recoil like in one of the larger chambered calibers and is it easy control..like say a rifle round in something like that vs a rifle round in a 1911 (obviously a made up gun but just for how the recoil acts, does that make sense?)
>>28096494
To change barrels remove the fore stock, pull a pin. Not too hard. But every time I change a barrel point of impact has changed.
This time I was low and left.

Thanks
>>28096635
Recoil is not different then any other rifle
>>28096696
but I am talking about the rifle rounds in a handgun, not a rifle with a stock. I just don't know how to explain my question properly, I guess. The contender pistols..if you shoot them like a handgun, since they have no stock on them, what is the recoil like if you shoot a 308 in a handgun vs if you shoot a 308 round in something shaped like a 1911 or normal handgun? Is it controllable in the contender style of pistols? Does it flip up and smash your face? Is the extra weight of the fore grip and longer barrel enough to stop all that and they are actually nice shooting weapons?
>>28096721
I have a 15 inch handgun barrel chambered in 270 Winchester with a scope
It's like shooting a 44 magnum
There is some recoil, but it does not flip up and hit my face.
This only happens to limp wristed faggots
>>28096752
I have been wanting to buy one but no way to try one before I buy it so that's why I'm trying to figure it out. Sorry if it's any inconvenience with the questions. Would you recommend that for handgun hunting whitetail deer or a larger framed revolver in a handgun round?
>>28096772
I use mine for white tail
My 44 magnum super red hawk will go out to about 125 yards
But the 270 handgun will do 250 yards

Awesome to know. Thank you for providing good info and not being an ass. I just wish local gun shops had "try before you buy"

That gun was in NOLF right?
For some reason I never realized there were break action handguns.
Break action rifles and shotguns are satisfying to shoot.
