i had a golden retreiver once that was literally terrified of guns, she would run away upon seeing one, even toy guns.
>>28089545
Did she vote for Obama?
>>28089742

>>28089154
She helps me find pheasant and rabbits.
And sometimes doves if they land in the beans.
Yes, Brittany spaniel in fact OP.
>>28089786
We had a dog that was shit scared of guns and storms. It got to the point that when she heard the rattle of the keys going into the safe's lock she would start trying to hide under stuff.
Strange dog.
>>28089154
No, though I will get one in a few years when I have the time and money.
my grandpa has a rescue lab
>it points better than actual bird dogs
>literally his friends with their $1000 dollar dogs are nothing compared to his lab
its hilarious
>Feeding the barking jew
Yea.
Anon does gundawgs.

My pooch is very afraid of firearms. When/If I bring her out shooting she tries to get in my lap. She doesn't quite get that I'm the one making the noise she's hiding from. Adopted her almost 4 years ago and still working through whatever her past owners did to her.
yes
Seems like a good thread to ask this
how the hell do I get my dog used to guns? I've never even fired one around him but every time I even pull one out he fucking runs and cowers behind a chair.
Can I train him or is my dog just a liberal?
>neighbor had a boss ass setter pup when I was a kid (elementary school)
>won 21 mil in the lottery
>moved to Florida immediately and left his dog in the yard to die
>escaped and started rooming with my golden in her dogge house without us knowing
>decided to just Adopt her when we find out cause she's cool as fuck
>kills everything. My neighbors couldn't keep cats because they kept wandering on our property and getting eaten (never let her off
Our land)
>dad and I take her pheasant hunting
>don't even have to shoot anything. She just runs off and comes back with dead birds
>cunt of a neighbor hit her with her car cause her outdoor cats keep getting munched on
>acts like a smug bitch about it
>dad and I spend my high school years practicing our bow hunting skills on the her gazillion rescue cats that are now destroying the neighborhoods wildlife
Apparently that bitch caught lymes disease though so it's all cool

Sounds like karma caught up to her.
>>28094123
seems like you need to acclimate them when they're young.
>>28094212
got him as a rescue about 2 months back, he's only about a year old so I don't think it's too late. Considering just leaving a gun in the room he sleeps in so that he gets used to it's presence
>>28094238
Good luck friend, I'm >>28092804 and still working on her.
I've got a rescue that is 3 years old and she hates loud noises, but has never heard a gun shot so I'm not quite sure how she will react. I live in the desert, and want to take her rabbit hunting but I'm sacred if she hears a gunshot she will just bolt. I also don't want to shoot while I'm particularly close to her (at least not the first time), so that she doesn't get too freaked out. What should I do?

Is it a bird dog? If game gets pup excited, no more game w.o. gun.
Key to this is GRADUALLY.
INTRODUCE THIS GRADUALLY.
TEACH PUP TO ASSOCIATE THE GUN WITH GOOD THINGS.
GRADUALLY.
Go Pavlov.
Buiscuits or snausages in hand, pup will follow. Get gun case out, pup cowers. Give pup a yumyum with a lot of praise.
Continue daily or 2 or 3x day until you can uncase the gun and pup will be slobbering and all up in your business wanting his treat.
Put pup in truck and drive to range.
Keep pup in truck, hear shooting, give pup a yumyum and a lot of praise.
Get gun, run a mag with pup in truck, he might be barkin up a storm, wanting his snausages.
At this point, he will be telling you how fast to proceed.
Replace treat with a ball, squeaky, fetch, dead cat, whatever he likes at any time in process. Objective is to have him associate gun with goodness.
Once pup gets ALL the way to heel at shot, take away treats GRADUALLY and erratically. His programming is changed.
This might take two months, it might take two days. But dont rush it.
My girl

Used to have a poodle when I was little since my dad was allergic to dogs that shed. He wasn't terrified of guns, but he would bark like hell as soon as he saw one of my toys. Always thought it was some sort of innate instinct that he had.
Yes.
take him on more glacier trips than hunting trips tho desu

Twang and bang has a good vid on training dogs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OC_olqgwGwc
I have a 10 or 11 year old beagle that we could have use for hunting at one point. Now she's just old.

You /swe/ or is Raubtier known in Murica too??
I need a good inna woods dog. My uncle has a hound lab mix that I absolutely adore. They have a history of not keeping animals, so I'm hoping they get bored of her. Sweet sweet Molly.

They're called mutt muffs.
