>>
Lucky bastard
Look up some how to videos on youtube and get at least one reloading handbook (Like this one http://www.amazon.com/Hornady-Handbook-Cartridge-Reloading-Emery-ebook/dp/B00HZUXWNA/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1448947918&sr=8-6&keywords=handloading) before you blow yourself up anon

If you're using black powder, then yes, you seat a primer, fill it up with black powder and a wad and then send a bullet home.

With smokeless... not so much.

If you don't know how to use it, don't fucking touch it.

Do it OP, its perfectly safe. If you use a dowel you can often pack more in to a case too.

yep, sounds about right.

you have no idea what you're in for, and that's what's funny. oh well, single stage presses build character.

If it *is* black powder, filling it and pressing the bullet in could be perfectly safe.
Black powder likes to be compressed.
Modern smokeless would be a gamble, though.

Plebe shit OP, and you should literally prepare to die if you haven't done the appropriate reading

Do you even have measuring tools like a scale/calipers?

Here's a quick "how to" video OP. It's for .38 Special but the process is the same across the board.

Reloading thread? Awesome

I was actually wondering...

I just fucked up a batch of 9mm JHPs. Didn't flare the case mouth enough, and now the base is bulged from seated the bullet.

My uncle/mentor recommends an inertial bullet puller, but I'm wondering if I can just put these back into my tungsten Carbide Factory Resize die to start over.

I already tried it with one (literally had ear/eyepro on and was hiding behind a chair) and it seemed to work fine. It loosened the bullet, allowing me to dismantle the round, and my press does have a 'primer cutout' so I don't think there's any risk of direct contact

Can I do it this way safely? Or will one of these go off in my press?
>>
>>28052313
I'm amazed at wtf I'm looking at. what caused this? lol
>>
>>28052543
use the bullet puller. one bullet out of a hundred will still ruin your day
>>
>>28053537
Internet rumors say paper shredder, but also question the validity of the claim.
>>
>>28052543
I don't understand, can you take photos? 9mm has a slight taper so you might notice a little bulge around the base of the bullet where it stops in the brass. Flare is pretty much just to insure you don't damage the base of the bullet as it goes in. If you don't have enough, it will either crush the side of the case, or peel off lead or whatever coating was used on the bullet.

I'll try to get some pics up soon.

Simply put, when I finally got out to the range to test/shoot them, I found that almost all would get stuck in my barrel when attempting the 'drop-clunk' headspace test. There was a noticeable bulge towards the base that prevented the case from fully inserting in the chamber

I'd been experimenting with reducing the case mouth flare in the hopes I could avoid having to taper crimp, so I would give the bullet barely enough flare depth to seat firmly/evenly.

>>28054173
FWIW my press have a primer arm assembly at the bottom (but I just use a handheld priming tool), so it IS designed to deal with that sort of thing...safely, I'm assuming. If I don't have a puller, can I use this just for the time being? Is there any way a factory resize die could actually detonate a round?

Gonna get some pictures once I'm back. Thanks for the the replies and I completely understand you covering your respective asses

>I would give the bullet barely enough flare depth to seat firmly/evenly
Please read as:

I would give the bullet barely enough flare depth to seat firmly/evenly **before I ran it through the actual seating die. I believe the bulges formed during this step, though I also thought it would be a matter of ripping the case walls or shaving off the jacket.

saged and brb

as promised, factory Hornady 115gr JHP on the left, my Nosler 115g JHPs on the right
COAL is a consistent 1.125"

Diameter at the bulge is .385-.388" depending on the casing, some are worse than others

Any ideas are appreciated
