I desperately wish I weren't back at university. I bought a Yugo M24/47 over the break which I had cleaned and fired just before coming back up to school. My brothers and I dropped a magazine of full metal jacketed 8mm Mauser into a pumpkin. I want to show off to my stranger internet friends, but it's 2 and a half hours away and I haven't taken any pictures yet.
I want off the educational ride. It gets in the way of my life.

Anyway, I'm planning on building up my Mauser into a scout rifle for possible innawoods adventures. I'm also thinking about giving it a very deep dark red finish, but that's just a recent idea I've had floating around. I think it'd be a neat way to do up my first rifle.

Because I wanted an old Mauser rifle. I was actually looking for an M48, but the M24/47 just sort of found me. I love it, anon. And the color job may not even happen, but I definitely want to get it finished so that the top and bottom halves of the stock are the same color at least.

By the way, the scope mount I'm looking to use is the Brass Stacker Mauser scout scope mount. Literally nothing that I'll be putting on the gun requires any machining at all. It's all accessories, no fundamental changes to the gun.

The rifle itself is from 1952, so it's a very late model. Bore is shinier than my M39's, very surprised.

The rifle in that pic is my M39, the majority of the bluing is gone, and the stock has quite a few small nicks, but that sucker shoots <1.5MOA on a lead sled with Monarch 185gr.

I like both of them alot, I love my M1 but I really want an M14. I have shot an M14 (Thank you based Wumbo) and a PTR. I like the M14 much more then the PTR. If you can see if you can get a Local FFL to Block some 20 rounders for you, the 10 rounders they sell with the M14s are so fucking small.

its pretty dope, 71rds of 9mm is fun to mag dump, people say the trigger is iffy and it isn't a match trigger but it doesn't bother me, with the 11-14lb rifle being so over built for a tube gun there feels like less recoil than my 10/22, would recommend 10/10 if you dont mind a 12ish lb rifle

Everything is from this year so far.
i bought the HiPoint last month and just got done converting it
and the 2 Western's and the topper i picked up on Black Friday

the Black Friday guns only set me back 33 bucks each because they where all fucked up and rusty, so i just cleaned them up and refinished them. they all work now and i might camo paint the pump.

my state (OK) requires that any rifle using one of the .22 caliber rounds for hunting be limited to 7 rounds so my most recent acquisition is one of these 10 rounders with a -5 round limiter...

That 7.5 ppu ammo is strong stuff. I might just be a wuss nowadays but I shot 300 RDS of 22lr trying to minimize the flinch that I got from buying a 12ga for babbys first gun. Fun day overall. But at the end of the afternoon i shot 20 rounds of ppu out of the olek31 and brought it roaring back

Ppu is the tits. Beautiful ammo in reloadable cases. Fair prices. Reasonably consistent. Odd calibers are made in huge batches tand then they switch to another one so if you see sum you want swoop it up while you can. Honorable mention for soft point 3006 12 dollars per box. That's better than cmp surplus swill ammo at practically the same price

Anybody else like the 1911 series rifles more than the 31 model?

I have a K31, and it's so...chunky, whereas the 11 series rifles I've held weren't nearly as bulky. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my K31, but it's kinda the Ringo of my collection.

That was part of the reasoning that made me want a K11 over a K31. The 1911 series had higher production costs per unit as all the parts were milled. I also felt a WWI-era Schmidt-Rubin would make a good counterpart to my 1918-dated M1882 Schmidt revolver.

So I'm not the only one that has noticed how chunky and sort of clumsy the K31 is? It only feels good shouldered on a bench or in prone...otherwise the butt angle and baby sized LOP seem awkward and unnatural.
