From before 1950? sure. I have one and I still really enjoy them. The mil-spec versions are a little heavy, but properly sporterized enfields are light, pointy and fast. But the best gun ever made is the AR-15

I have owned both a Mauser and an Enfield, and the Enfield was pure trash compared to the Mauser. I sold it and kept the Masuer. Working the bolt felt like playing with a toy in comparison. Maybe I just don't like cock-on-close actions.

I own and enjoy both rifles but I think the SMLE bolt is far more enjoyable to operate. The k98 bolt is so stiff i have to slap it shut. SMLE is smooth as butter. Its all preference, calling either one garbage its fucking pants on head retarded.

I would have agreed with you until the other week when my SMLE decided to break its internal recoil lugs clean off and split its stock during a Combined Services match.

I pissed it off for a FN K98 30-06, WAY better made rifle, I prefer the action and balance and it also fits me better.

One day I'll get a Jungle Carbine though, because it's not Aussie to not have at least one Lee Enfield, and M1 Garand are Cat D (and $4k).
