Do EGLMs ever get used out in the wild, or does everyone with a SCAR just slap a 320 on it like a normal person?

Belgium has them & uses them on the SCAR & F2000, which is unsurprising.

Here's a pic of a MARSOC guy with one, I'm not sure if it was issued or not.

EGLM's are primarily used as the Mk13 stand alone launcher. It's much easier to throw it in your pack and pull it out when needed than to lug it around strapped to your primary weapon all the time when you hardly use it.
>>
>>28028943
Whats the advantage of using that proprietary thing over a 203/320?
>>
>>28029064
>proprietary

The EGLM is Picatinny mounted vs the M203 notch barrel attachment of the two you mentioned. So for being "proprietary" the FN offering is capable of mounting to infinitely more weapons.

It also has a swing out loading so you can shoot longer rounds.

I got to shoot a fs2000 with a eglm ( chalk rounds) at a fn demo. The system was really cool. You used a little button in the side to select the target distance cia thr fs2000 scope, then you came off scop and tilted the gun until a led went solid. Then you fired.

Also its trigger activated by firing hand that sounds comfy.

>It also has a swing out loading so you can shoot longer rounds.

Advantages:
- Longer munition can be used.
- The barrel/chamber swings out both left & right, depending on which side you want to use.
- Controls are ambi.
- Controls can be adjusted to your rifle (difference in magwell length etc.
- Can mount on any picatinny rail with enough realestate available to it.
- Double action trigger means you can retry a round if it did not go off.

As for M320 vs EGLM? It's situational.
If I were a full time grenadier? EGLM on my rifle, no doubt there. Easier to handle & more ergonomic.
If I were some SF /k/unt? Probably the M320 because it's still possible to shoot it moderately decently "free hand" if you take it off the rifle and don't mount it on the standalone stock.

Pic: FN's original ballistic computer for the FN F2000. Computes bullet & grenade drop. Point it at your target, press button, now elevate until light changes color, fire. Boom, grenade on target.
Still a tad too bulky though.

They have a pic mounted FCU that does that now, even has holographic sight projection of where your rounds will impact. It's pretty FN schweat.

And here's two videos on how it works:

Yeah; as I said, the pic was the first gen. Which like NO ONE ever bought due to being huge & clunky. But it was pretty well designed & very usable, even in battlefield conditions.

Current FCUs are much better.

Pic: Libya capture F2000. Shows how far the grenade launcher can slide the barrel forward to load a new round. Now, that's only half the story. it can also pivot to left or right, allowing hugely long munitions to be loaded. Things which were impossible with the M203 and required an M79.
Of course, the benefit over the M320 is slim. The HK does not really slide forward much at all, it just pops out to the side.

I concur.

Costs more than the rifle it sits on.

And they're really not that great to be honest.
