Probably because .45lc started life as black powder combined with the fact that some black powder brass as well as the firearms made for then are weak shit.look at .45-70 vs .444 marlin or .50 Beowulf

Anyway OP .45lc CAN be loaded as hot as .44mag in some cases, but only if the firearm itself is able to handle it

If you want a weak rebound shoot 44 special in your 44 magnums.

.45 Colt was originally a black powder cartridge. In modern smokeless loadings, it is typically loaded to pressure levels that send a 255 grain bullet at around 750 to 800 fps. Typical .44 Magnum loads send a 240 grain bullet between 1150 to 1400 fps.

.45 Colt has the potential to be loaded to higher pressures and out preform .44 Magnum. Your Peacemaker would not be able to handle these pressures. A couple of ammo manufacturers make a "Magnum" .45 Colt load which they usually call .45 Colt+P. The guns that are capable of handling it are the Colt Anaconda, Ruger Redhawk, Ruger Super Redhawk, Ruger New Model Blackhawk and Ruger Bisely.

Also, a lot of the commercial .45 Colt is downloaded "cowboy action" ammo. Your Peacemaker can safely handle ammo as high as 250 grains at 1000 fps, which is the upper end of standard pressure .45 Colt. Thanks to the Judge, there is also a decent amount of .45 Colt defensive ammo on the market now.
