Between the two, definitely the 1911. However if you want to go more modern look into the FNX 45 or the Sig P227.

A Glock is a brand and a 1911 is a design.
There are dozens of companies making 1911s, which range wildly in quality.
One company makes Glocks.

Just do some homework, go to a range and try them both out, then get what you like best.

Depends on the 1911 and what you want it for.
>>
>>27958199

if you are a new shooter, I would recommend a Glock, simply because the manipulations are simpler and the gun itself is simpler.
>>
>>27958233
Glock only makes Glocks, though. In different calibers and sizes, but fundamentally the same pistol design. Similarly, 1911s come in different calibers and sizes too, though different companies produce them.

So he could be asking which design he should get.

>manipulations are simpler
If he can't figure out how to actuate the thumb safety (which is basically an inherent function of gripping the pistol correctly), he has no business operating firearms.

Not defending 1911s specifically, but the idea that one handgun is more challenging to operate than another is mostly false.

Glock 17. I own both 1911 (SR1911) and many glocks, and the 9mm Glock (26,19,17) is what I trust my self defense to.
>>
>>27958199
Checked.
I have a glock 20 and a 1911. I switch back and fourth between carrying them. I like the 1911 design more and it perfectly in my hand. The 1911 is liquid sex. That being said I like the glock for its capacity and reliability. Both will kill criminal scum dead, so shoot bith, figure out which one you like more and get that one. Or get both.
>>
>>27958297
...I mean, 1911s can be kind of tricky. Like for example, the hammer has to be back to put the safety on and the safety has to be off to manipulate the slide. That's not true of all firearms so if you're not used to that, you might have to take a second to think "ok why can't I put the safety up?" or "why can't I chamber a round?"

Glock slides will always rack unless they are broken and if there isna round chambered, they will always fire. Not so with the 1911. It's not like a PHD in applied mathematics, but to someone with absolutely zero training, it can make a difference.

Also
>legitimate mentally stable responsible adult american
>no business owning a firearm

Son, I am dissapoint.
>>
>>27960720
No firearm is tricky to use if you go to the range and train with it regularly
>>
>>27960795
Agreed. But:

>for someone with absolutely zero training, it can make a difference
>>
1 1911 and 1 vp9 is best in slot.
>>
>>27960930
Someone with zero training should do the responsible thing and learn about his firearm before carrying it.
>>
>>27961296
Agreed but you have to start somewhere. I prefer 1911s but Glocks are a good platform for learning how to shoot.
>>
1911 always
>>
>>27958257
I always thought it stood for "that feel when"

Using either is retarded though
>>
>>27961328
Just think of all the American service men who had never used a handgun before who were issued the 1911 as a side arm
>>
>>27958299
The nazi flag in your picture will make it so that no one ever thinks your opinion is valid. Sorry familia.
>>
>>27961353

It does.

tfw=that feel when
mfw=my face when

Hopefully all you redditfags swarming on the carcass of 4chan can quite looking like retards after reading this.
