Got a 1970 manufacture Highway Patrolman for $625.
Did I do well?

>Highway Patrolman
No, that's a gun.
>>27922686
Here's your (you)
>>27922674
yeah pretty sure that's a gun
>>27922674
I just passed on one at 700 because no box and no original grips. So I would say good job anon.
>>27922702
Thanks friend, I appreciate it.
Aw, heck...have another (You). It's on me, buddy.
>>27922713
Yeah, I had no box on this one, but I'm not sure if these grips are original either. They look to be too nice.
>>27922735
They are. There were two different style wood grips offered by the factory on the the 28. Pic related 25 and 29 same vintage
>>27922674
Well I'm jelly so imma go with yes.
>>27922735
Bet that was a duty revolver and had Hogue or Pachmyers on it. But the originals were put back on when sold
>>27922801
Well that's nice.
I do need to replace the rear leaf on this though. It seems like it was dropped at some point and chipped part of the sight so half of it wobbles a bit. Thankfully it's only like a $10 part.
>>27922822
I was betting that it was a duty revovler. Few scratches amazingly, but the finish is fading a little from holster wear. I'm really happy with it. I feel the lockup and quality is nicer than that of my new 686.
>>27922839
Yep. Pinned and recessed. Those were the peak of the N frames.
>>27922674
Noice.
>>27922965
I love the cylinder being cut for moon clips. The lock up and feel are just great. I'm a little upset with myself now for not getting it before my 686.
The biggest flaw I see on this piece is a slight, very slight, amount of spotting on the right side
But that's not bad for a 45 year old gun.
I adjusted the shutter speed here to make it more clear.
>>27923079
No moon clips for .357 You are confusing the 25. The N frames had recessesed cylinder faces for strength with magnum loads.
>>27923213
Ahhhh, that's it. Thanks. I noticed the recessed face almost immediately, and I just assumed you'd be able to get moon clips for it.
>>27922735
Those are not original grips. They are current production N-frame grips. 1970's grips are quite a bit fatter goncalo alves. They will look like these - a 'football' ejection relief cut and no diamond around the grip screw.
>>27923662
I don't think the 28 ever had those grips with the cutout. You are correct that LP's are new production but the 28 had unique goncalo alves grips different than the other N frames.
>>27922674
Yes. Yes you did.
>>27923792
As far as I've ever seen, they used standard N-frame target stocks or Magnas. Post-'68 they omitted the diamond around the screw escutcheon. I believe the Magnas were always walnut, targets came in walnut or goncalo alves.
Here is a 1973-dated Model 28-2.
>>27923931
Yeah. I must have been thinking about the magnas.
>>27924372
They look like sex on the short barrel N-frames
>>27924380
I put a set of transitional Magnas on my M1917. Looks nicer than the smooth stocks and is much more comfortable to shoot.
>>27924495
You kept the smooth ones I hope...
>>27922686
Police Officers are heavy, carry a gun
>>27924495
There is/was a guy selling one on gunbroker near me. He was asking somewhere between $1500 or $3000
Either way, a shitload.
