What are the smallest true blue-water, active-duty combat ships capable of navigating the open seas without hand-holding by other vessels? I mean actual military ships; not ceremonial sailing rigs or something really antiquated. Pic is Sweden's HSwMS Sundsvall K24 Göteborg-class corvette (commissioned 1989), which is only 425 tonnes fully-loaded. It is 57 X 8 meters with a 2-meter draft.

DDs

And I'm talking about true ones not those glorified corvettes they build today.

I think it's one of the Scandanavian tiny ships since they really love making things like your pic. The Chinese have some decent number of the sort too, though they do exist a few other places.
>>
>>27907136
I think the Coast Guard use them too

331 tons, bitches. Beat that.

Who cares about weight then you're smaller (and therefore cuter) :^)

Yeah, missile boats and patrol boats are pretty rare.

I'm gonna go with the Iris.
AA defense patrol-ship. 210 tons, 46 meters.

It was a french experimentation to make smaller vessels by creating to half-time crew and maniging them like usual supply. Basically you would go for a 4 or 6 month mission, then the ship would go back to repair and ressuply and immedialty begin a new mission with the other crew. Also no kitchen, only microwave, and generally reduced amenities compared to a regular ship. A surface submarine.

define hand-holding

6 months of microwaved food? Sounds awful.

Compared to the usual quality of french navy cooks, it is.
You'll eat hors d'oeuvres, fresh lobster and pastries on a regular basis, not to mention the alcohol served during meals.
I guess it's the main reason why this system wasn't adopted.
>>

Microwaves are perfectly fit cooking instruments.

With the right ingredients you can make brownies in them. You can get bored on microwave food fast but its better than MRE and the taste isn't complete shit anyway.

Yeppers. Pretty hard to underdraw the Cyclones.
