Ian doesn't know how an M1 Garand works?

>when the gun is empty and locked open, it's only the follower that's holding the bolt back

And from a comment he posted on the video
>The bolt will drop as soon as the follower is depressed even when it is fully locked open. When you are loading a clip, however, the clip itself holds the bolt back until it's fully inserted,
>>
nobody cares
>>
OP confirmed never having loaded an M1
>>

If you didn't care, why reply?

>>27802663
i dont care
>>
>>27802661

You're the one who clearly hasn't if you don't see what's wrong with these statements.

He has been making some notable mistakes lately.
>>
>>27802626
He came over to my house and fucked my 14 year old sister?
>>
>>27802671
But Ian is right. The clip pushes the follower down and holds the bolt in its place

OP here.
It seems many of you aren't familiar with how an M1 works, so here's a picture of the bolt locked all the way back.

As you can see the bolt is not held back by the follower.
The bolt will not go forwards from this position unless the follower is fully depressed, or it is partially depressed, then the bolt is pulled backwards.

In the video, the bolt is not pulled all the way back, and is resting against the follower.
This is possible with rifles that are stiff or have weak springs, generally speaking.
In this position, the rifle cannot be loaded, as there is not enough room for the clip.

so he made a little make about the guns exact mechanism, he is still a fucking genius when it comes to guns
>>
>>27802775

I guess I just expected him to be more familiar with such a common historical rifle.

Maybe he's never shot one before.

Though I honestly wasn't at all surprised by /k/'s reaction and spewing of misinformation.

It's the Hoppe's fumes, bro. Have you not seen the gif that was made from a video he deleted? In the gif/vid he collapses in a store after huffing too much Hoppe's.

He is also developing a psychosis.
>>
>>27802816

No, I haven't seen it.
Do you have it?

>it's autistic to expect accurate information from a firearms expert

Ian's been saying some weird shit recently.
>>
I liked when he invited Dugan to be on an episode of forgotten weapons and Dugan never responded
>>
>>27802909
Ian is actually kind of a douche. I heard he tried to steal a Luger from an auction house and almost got fired.
>>
>>27802930
Yeah but what I said about Dugan is verifiable whereas your comment is hearsay
>>
>>27802930

Where is it verifiable?

Not flaming, I'm legit curious.

I saw Ian McCollum at a gun store in Los Angeles yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.

He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”

I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Lugers in his hands without paying.

The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.

When she took one of the guns and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each gun and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

even if that's true, Dugan is a man dying of MS. He quit making videos for a reason, I wouldn't be surprised if he just doesn't have the time or energy to respond to online gun guys.

Check the comments on carnik cons last post on Facebook. Something about crowd funding forgotten weapons

This would have been a pleasant thing to read if you would have tailored it more to Ian.

Honestly I'm just a bit disappointing in you.

Ian just hates the m1/14 platform and will take any chance to spread disinfo and fuddlore about it.
>>
This thread is so pathetic.

You revere him as if he's some Hollywood celebrity. It's like when some famous actress is photographed half-nude without makeup on and everyone screams "UGLY, SHOULDERS TOO BROAD, TITS TOO SMALL" as if they've forgotten that at the end of the day, she's no more human than the rest of us.

This, he refers to gun literature for almost every video he does, he just never cites the book he uses most of the time.

Oh look, C&Rsenal's Othais posted this a year ago and got it right:

http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2014/10/01/horrifying-experiment-garand-thumb/

>Often people will get a Garand-Thumb because the bolt has not been pulled fully to the rear.

>However if you don’t manage to get the bolt all the way back it might rest on the magazine follower instead of the bolt-catch, and it might slam shut without warning.
>>
>>27803299

No, Ian likes the M1. He doesn't like the M1A for reasons that are entirely reasonable (it's shit) when compared to its contemporaries.

Dougan probably did it in private to save both of them face.

My mom has MS and it is a slow and painful death, where as with cancer you have some hope of beating it, MS is as a sure of a death as playing Russian Roulette with a loaded Glock. And the only medications you have available basically give you HIV like symptoms because it suppresses your immune system.

And you never know when you're going to die.

So chances are, he's doing everything he wanted to do before dying and chances are, making another youtube video is not on that list.

It seems irresponsible to own a gun without knowing how it works.

I was at a retirement for the Air Combat Command Commander and Ian showed up while the on coming commander presented a shadow box with a deactivated GUU-5P carbine displayed inside with a nice glass drop down cover. I was kind of surprised and I don't think anyone besides me knew who he was. While General Carlisle was speaking about the milesotnes of his predecessor, Ian interrupted with "Say, when is a carbine, not a carbine?". Before anyone could reply Ian retorted "When it disappears!" while tossing two cooked off M18 purple smoke grenades on the ground. Every was running for the exits and I could hear the display case being smashed apart. When Security Forces finally got there the GUU-5P carbine was missing and the shadow box was torn apart and discarded on the ground.
