it weighs just over 5lbs loaded and has a very short travel length for the bolt which has two tungsten inserts; all together that makes for a very harshly recoiling weapon.

imagine shooting a 1911 that only weighs 1lb and the slide was half the distance so had to be twice as massive.

If you're going to get an AR get a bcm or psa upper that is chrome lined. Easy to do at $650. Lpks, bolts and lowers are dirt cheap.

Far right is a WASR, yes. You can tell by the stamped receiver without mag dimples.

It's a WASR, it's fine. I use it as my truck gun. WASR are pretty much all good to go these days and that's coming from the guy who was vehemently against them when my first two shit the bed back when their QC was shit.

Make sure the rivets are flat against the receiver and have a nice round head. Pull the bolt all the way back, let it go, and make sure it will go all the way forward under it's own spring pressure. Field strip it and look over everything inside. Make sure all the pins look exactly perpendicular to the receiver. Make sure the bullet guide isn't loose. Canted sights are very annoying but only a functional problem if they're so far off the gun can't be zeroed.
That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

The main things you'll want to check for are front sight cant (if it's tilted to one side or the other) and front-to-back magazine wobble. Then your standard bore, wear, and fit/function checks. Also the rivets like that other guy said.

Gotta be the SXS.
Don't use a SBS for defense, that's dumb. They're cool as hell but not suited for it at all, that's what pistols are for.
Also naw, the KSG is rock solid. The first gen had issues but they've been ironed out nicely, just keep in mind you have to pump it with authority as the last .25" of forend travel is what actually cycles the next round.

Its wonderful. It's super comfy, super light, 9mm is cheaper than even 5.45x39 and if I do my part I can easily hit 12" steel plates at ~125 yards. It may be ugly but honestly it's probably the most fun gun I've ever shot.
