Looking for a Daily Carry, one of my co-workers got car-jacked while on a test drive, put the fear in me.

I'd settled on a G19, but after holding a friends 1911 I'm undecided. I like how it felt, and I'd prefer .45 over 9mm, but i just don't know enough...

Pros, cons, what brands of 1911 are trustworthy for a daily carry??

Discuss!!!

Those two are about as different as pistols come; very polarizing and you've opened a huge can of worms with that OP title.

Whether this is or is not a troll thread may God have mercy on your soul.

I'll tell you this, the gun you will carry is better than the best gun in the world that's too heavy to carry every day. If you DO go 9mm don't write off other fantastic guns like the S&W Shield or the Springfield XDs which actually comes in 9mm and .45 cal flavors. I'd go with 9mm since most muggins are at close range and a struggle may ensure. You may miss a few shots in the scuffle.

Not a troll or bait thread, I'm just not that experienced with firearms, and with them being so very different from each other, I wanted some opinions from other people.

First of all you are a faggot. second what is your budget? You will pay about a $100 more for a "reliable" 1911 than any plastic fantastic.
>>
>>27782982
>I'm just not that experienced with firearms
not even enough to have a preference is about as newfag as it gets

do you like a lightweight but topheavy plastic frame or a heavy but balanced steel frame?

do you like a fat but high capacity double stack mag or a slim but low capacity single stack mag?

do you like a trigger to be long and squishy but simple to operate or short and crisp but with a thumb safety?

do you like your shots to punch hard or kick softly?

>>27783008
Budget is undecided just yet, I don't wanna drop a crazy amount, but around $600?

Reasons why not to carry a 1911.

I like how shooting a .45 feels.

But Im mostly interested in how well it's gonna stop the guy trying to harm me
>>
>>27783030
answer the other questions damn it

there's a million guns in .45, not just 1911

CZ evangelists like to create more fanboys. They are like 10mm fanatics in that respect. That said, the compact 75 style guns can be very nice shooters.

1911s are quite thin, which is a desirable trait in a carry gun. Like the CZs, weight is a concern. You will need a good, rigid belt.

The 19 is a good, multi-purpose pistol. I think they are a bit wide for CC, but lots of people carry them. That comes down to your choice of clothing and holster.
>>
>>27782932
This.

A CZ is going to have a similar all metal feel to the 1911 but be the same or similar capacity to the equivalent glock.

Look at the CZ Rami and CZ Compact for comparable guns.

You can even get one made by Cajun Gun Works with a smooth 3.5 lb trigger and reliability upgraded springs and firing pin.

Drop the dreams of a reliable 1911. You will have to compromise or try to scare an awesome deal in a private sale.

Buy a used gen 3 glock 19 and take all the money left over and buy ammo to practice with.

Out of the two, the G19 would be my choice. More rounds available, smaller package (but slightly wider), more reliable, and a gen 3 (my personal favorite) can be had in your price range.

I love my SA Loaded 1911 and carry is often, but the price tag on it is slightly over your limit. Plus, I had to put a little money into it making it 100% reliable. Had to buy a handful of Wilson 47D mags which aren't cheap, and a couple of heavier springs which are cheap. It runs like a top now but took some effort getting it to that point.

I almost always carry my Shield 9 when off duty. You can get them for around $350 on gun broker, and they're one of best sub compacts you can buy.

This. I'm a big fan of the 1911 but carry a Cz 75 compact

On the hopes that this isn't a troll thread, I'm going to help as best I can. I carry a Glock 20 most of the time, and occasionally carry my 1911. The biggest difference for me is the mag capacity. If you're not sure if 8 or sor rounds will be enough for you, carry the glock 19. The 20 is in 10mm so the recoil is considerably higher and more on par with the 1911's .45 dlso I'd the recoil is a factor to you go with the 19. The 1911 is slimmer so it is less bulky and easier to conceal from a perspective of width. Both pistols are reliable and will get the job done. For me both feel fine in my hand, though I'll admit I do like the feel of the 1911 more. Mag capacity matters to me too though, and since I'm comfortable with both and can easily conceal both (I use a shoulder rig BTW) I usually carry my Glock 20, which is comparable in size and capacity to the 20, though not in recoil. Hope that helps OP.

Try a high power 1911.
>>
As a 1911 fanboy, I like carrying my glock more. its just more of a tool. I don't care how beat up it gets or if id ever loose it in an evidence locker. That's being said, I still like 1911s and think they make good carry guns, the glock is just more of a duty gun

If you have to ask this question, you are neither emotionally nor legally prepared to carry a firearm.
