Have ATVs ever been important in warfare?

I heard Hannibal used something like that.

Armies.
Scouts and officers have use quads and bikes before.
I saw a bunch of officers in KIA use them a lot to and from the PX.

air force recruiter showed me a video of one of their "operators operating operationally" with one about 18 years ago... air force "commando" was whipping all over on an ATV full of det cord and c4 clearing emergency drop zones and helo landing spots and shit... no idea how full of shit it was, but I can confirm it was a boner inducing recruitment tool

Would be useful as a recon vehicle, or just to get to point A to point B rapidly.
Beats the hell out of a fucking horse.

I remember reading a recent article about how SAS snipers are currently riding ATVs across the Iraqi desert doing hit and run strikes against ISIS, so I suppose
when I was in the Marines I saw some MARSOC dude ripping down the main road and tank trails on camp lejeune on marine ATV's. I think pic is an army SF but they were riding the same ATV
