ITT: Complaining about shills and dank weed
>>
I don't do weed, nor do I plan to since I will be going into a government job
>>
>>27778891
I'll probably try some once it eventually hits the stores.
>inb4 its like 2-3 fucking years because "lol we need to do some research and piss away 100 gorillion dollars"
>>
>continuing discussion from the last thread

>Try explaining that to the fudds and CPC hardliners though.

>HARPER WILL SAVE US ALLLLLL

>I mean, I greatly appreciate what they did, including holding the line/status quo for the time. But given the length of their reign and their hold over parliament, they gave us a mere pittance, and people bend over and spread their cheeks for them.

>>27778891
Weed is pretty overrated honestly.
>>
>>27778864
>Tfw poor but want to build my collection
What should I buy next? I'm leaning towards an M305, then a Type 97.
>>
>>27779141
Thing is, the Liberals are no better except for DUDE WEED.
>"investing" money into Syrian refugees
>"investing" a fuckton of money in Native programs (because we clearly haven't pissed away enough yet)
>Weed will only be sold at govt. stores, make private transactions more illegal
>"We'll make it so you show a permit when you buy a gun :^)"
Why does every party feel the need to control everything. Why do people want to have their lives micromanaged? Fuck sakes.
>Weed is pretty overrated
I'm pretty sure weed does make you stupid and has is addictive to some degree, but I still want it legal.
>>
>>27779237
Neither. Last time I handled an M305 at Wanstalls the front sight was visibly canted to the side and Type-97s are easily the most unergonomic rifle I have ever handled.
>>
>>27779265
canted sight is easy fix, though.
>>
>>27779252
I agree with you completely. There's no reason for it not to be legalized.

>Why does every party feel the need to control everything.

Because we live in Canada :^) We are a nation of law, order and good governance :^)
>>
>>27779265
Too bad for you. I handled both and liked them. I wanted a Vz first, but the price gouging is rediculous.
>>
>>27779285
US is supposed to be a 'free nation' and yet its government feels the need to control morality almost as badly as ours does. The Founding Fathers would be fucking disgusted.
>price gouging
I had a CZ-858 and a CSA vz-58. The CSA was superior in every aspect to the CZ-858. You are paying for an objectively better firearm.
>>
>>27779332
I don't care if it's a Cz or CSA, both are too much because MUH NEW LIBERAL GOVERNMENT GONNA TAKE MUH GUNS TOMORROW BETTER FUCKING PANIC FUCKING BUY AND RAISE ALL THE FFFFFFFFFFFUCKING PRICES FUCK

While it looks better without another country's flag juxtaposed in the top left corner, I don't much care for flags with tiny, hard to see details.

I think symbols should be kept large, and fairly simple so the flag as a whole can be drawn quickly and easily.

My cousin overdosed on marijuana. When we found him the needle was still sticking out his arm. My best friends family was torn apart because her daddy would drink too much marijuana and start hitting them. >is addictive to some degree
Addiction is a mental illness found in those predisposed for it, and happens independent of the chemical composition of a drug. People become addicted to gambling, risk-taking behavior, or even MMORPGs, all of which involve no drug consumption. Addiction must also negatively affect one's life in some way; for this reason we aren't considered addicted to water or breathing even though they're compulsive behaviors.

Dependence, on the other hand, is the body's natural adaptation to a new substance, and occurrs whether one is an addict or not. People with chronic pain are given opiates many times more powerful than heroin, yet they do not become addicts. Children are prescribed methamphetamine for ADD, yet they don't start turning tricks on the playground corner to buy more speed. Weed, like hallucinogens, doesn't exhibit any significant formation of dependence.

It does make you stupid, though.

Weed is pretty good for insomnia, lack of appetite and muscle/joint pain.

It's pretty harmless if you're not operating heavy machinery or have some sort of medical condition/take medication for which it is contraindicated.

Like everything else, moderation is key.
>>
>>27781694
>for insomnia
I've known a few people who "can't get to sleep unless they smoke weed".
I think that starts falling into the realm of addiction.
>>
>>27781765

That depends on whether the insomnia is caused by the marijuana or not.

If someone spends 15 years working on 5 hours of sleep and then they find out they can get 8 or 9 hours if they take 1/4 gram before bed, I'm not going to be the one to tell them they can't do it and you'd have to be kind of an asshole to do so and not feel at least a little empathy for the person.

I'm an Ontario based KFag who has is PAL and looking for a "tactical" styled pump shotgun preferably for under $500 Cad.

By tactical I mainly just mean I want an 18.5" barrel length.

Uses would be target shooting, farm x cabin shooting and home defense concerns.
>>
>>27782418
You have your standard Mossberg or Remington, or if you want to go cheaper, Canadaammo has Dominion (ie. rebranded Norinco) 870 clones. They also do a tiny 8.5" pump shotgun too, for pure home defense.
>>
>>27782418
The Nova is also a good choice, I've always really liked them. Only didn't get one because when I got my 870 the only Novas they had were 20GA or youth models

Barrel length isn't much of a concern for non-restricted firearms. It's overall length that is the concern.

It should, as long as it meets the overall length requirement.

They look kind of fun. Adjustable gas port for heavy or light loads and a top rail included unlike the normal 97s.

Some guy in the other thread said it was alright. Seems pretty handy, and the adjustable gas port is a must on semiauto shotguns. I wish there were higher cap mags pinned to 5 rounds. Purely for aesthetic reasons, of course.

That's the only capacity that legalization refers to. Perhaps you're thinking of decriminalization? The Libs specifically campaigned on the former, not the latter, so if they're going to actually deliver on their promises, expect to see weed on the shelves.

We'll have to wait and see. "Legalize and tax the shit out of" is a fucking moronic course of idea despite its popularity, because that's the best way to drive production and sales back into the black market.

How is Colorado and Washington's approach? I don't smoke, so I don't know what the going rates were before and after legalization, both on the white and black market.
>>
>>27784033
*course of action
>>
>>27784033
personally I live in van, and there are "legal" weed shops

their weed is anywhere from 1.5x to 2x the cost of street weed
>>
>>27784046
Legal in the sense of medical marijuana? That's a much more limited market, with understandably higher rates. One would expect, all things held equal, for prices to fall as more competition enters the production and retail market. Even moreso if regulations regarding those two sectors are reduced to incentivize above-board business.

But then again, it's the Liberals, so expecting sound economic policy is a tall order.
>>
>>27784103
I think a national "legal" weed system would be very similar to the medical weed market here

it's funny how they think it will magically create money

do they not realize we already do make a lot of money off weed through sales tax, property tax, tax on grow equipment etc.

yes if it's taxed the government will see more of it, but it's not going to be a giant influx of new money that's going to bolster our economy

though i don't know why i even bother
>expect liberals to understand economics

Because that's totally happened to tobacco and alcohol. It's like you don't even realize that weed, like alcohol and tobacco, is an inelastic good.
>>
>>27783938
There are weed bars with budtenders in Seattle but I've never gone to one because the prices from the same guy I had before it was legal are still way cheaper and his stuff is way stronger. I don't think they're allowed to sell prerolled stuff though. There are probably limits on how much you can grow, but it's likely no one gives a fuck, because once they opened the floodgates they gave up on actually being able to enforce specific regulations, because there are thousands of loopholes if the state government decides to give a fuck, which they probably won't.

To some degree that is true with tobacco- look at all the smuggling via native reserves on the US border. I remember in the 90s New York state had to reduce its tobacco tax because they were losing money versus what they previously made thanks to increased tobacco smuggling.

There you go.
In Canada it is illegal to sell liquor at a non-approved store, though here in BC they changed the law recently to allow some of it in liquor stores (in reality there is like none I've seen)
Also, selling single cigarettes is also illegal in many places.
>>
>>27786249
Ontario has LCBO(fed run liquor store). We just approved 6pack craft beer in select grocery stores and small offshoot locations kinda like Holy smokes or wine rack if anyone knows those.
>>
>>27786309
Wine is a lot less regulated. I just buy most of mine online directly from the winery, since I mostly drink craft Ontario wines.
>>
>>27786102
Quality weed is very easy to grow in small-scale operations. You cannot do the same for tobacco, because it requires plantations in regions with suitable climate. Indoor growing of tobacco for commercial sales is not feasible.

And as for alcohol, it's much more readily used in our society, so only large-scale breweries and distilleries can supply the general public. Yes, there are microbreweries, but the vast majority of the public is supplied by significant commercial operations. And if you're referring to prohibition, did you foget that it only lasted 13 years? After it ended, pre-prohibition alcohol firms started back up again because their brands were still well known. Nobody wanted to go back to Scooter's whisky brewed down in the hollow, when there were actual brands on the shelves again.

Whereas currently, almost all the marijuana on the market is produced illegally, and given how easy it is to obtain, most of the demand is already satisfied and it is unlikely to go up any significant amount post-legalization. If legalized weed is more expensive, you will see black-market suppliers go back in business, because their production infrastructure still exists. And you will see consumers go right back to buying on the black market, because their former contacts still exist.

Maybe if you were to give it a decade or two of low-taxed, loosely regulated production and sales (in order for major brands to establish themselves, for black-market suppliers to go out of business/go legit, and for the bulk of the consumer base to become accustomed to buying weed at stores), then you might see the inelasticity you're referring to. But if legalization is a flop right off the bat, then the black market will pick back up the very next day.
>>
>>27788043
>If legalized weed is more expensive
They'd be crazy to not make it cheaper.

Justin wanted to legalize weed to deter illegal distribution. If a consumer had the choice between spending less money and obeying the law, or spending more money and disobeying the law, they wouldn't have to think twice about which to choose.

The whole point of legalization is to disincentivize the illegal alternative.
>>
>>27788240
Exactly. The anon I was replying to doesn't seem to understand this. He seems to think the black market will somehow disappear as soon as legalization happens, regardless of the kind of legislative burdens placed on the open market.
>>
>>27788288
Most people are risk-adverse and lazy, in their minds it's going to just be easier and safer to get weed from legal sources than from illegal ones. That, and you can fucking bet there's going to be a campaign to smear black market weed as potentially dangerous due a complete lack of health/quality control, unlike legal weed which will have regulations in place so that it isn't cut with cocaine or some other shady shit.
>>
>>27788373
The open market will certainly bear a higher price due to the convenience of buying weed at the store during business hours (rather than having to meet their dealer), and due to the lack of legal risk. But you must remember that almost everyone who consumes weed now already gets it from the black market, so they will be immune to any propaganda about the dangers of the black market. The question is whether there will be a significant number of new entrants to the legal weed market. I doubt it will be as large as the black market consumer base, so you will end up with a pool of consumers who were previously fine with buying and using illegally, now faced with potentially outrageous prices. That doesn't leave much incentive for them to stay in the open market. Some will, if their maximum acceptable price point is high enough, but others will fall back to their old ways.

It's impossible to make any accurate predictions about the particular effects of pot tax and regulation, so we'll have to see what happens.
>>
>>27788510
I actually think the effect of new entrants is going to be far more influential than you're portraying, because we're not just talking about new users who are now willing to try weed now that's it's legal, but also future generations who are going to grow up in society with legalized weed and thus no knowledge or interest in turning to black market weed.
>>
>>27788550
>future generations
That depends on whether the open market works or not. If the prices are so high that few businesses enter it and few consumers buy from it, then the underground weed culture will thrive and the open market will be a colossal failure.

Whether future generations will favor the black or open market will be decided on whether the open market attracts enough consumers to compete with the blak market. The original point was that taxing and regulating it into oblivion is not the way to do this.

Washington here. You can buy up to I believe four ounces of plain old green-bud pot at once. I believe it's four, it's some arbitrary amount. For a fairly serious user (smoke 1-3 bowls to relax most nights (1-3 bowls would be roughly equivalent to two decent sized, strong mixed drinks)) that would last ATLEAST the month. I went through a period where I was almost constantly smoking, between classes and social outings, and even then I only went through 4-5 ounces a month.

Prices can vary based on how sneaky the business is about law, and how much they value their customers. My favorite local shop has average store prices, $15-30/gram based on potency (a gram will last 3-6 bowls, depending on the size of the pipe in question) but offer atleast four or five different strains every day that are 'discounted' to $10/gram, which - wouldn't you know it - is the average, fair street price.

The whole thing gets way more muddled when you add concentrates, edibles, pre-rolls etc

Fuck them, make their reserves private land, make them real Canadians citizens with no special benefits beyond what we have, and if they fail they fail.

I believe Harper did actually want to do that if he was re elected,

I like how the men (on both sides) who signed the treaties are long dead, but their posterity are forever bound by it. You try to pull that kind of shit in any other type of contract, and you'd get laughed out of court. But apparently governments are exempt from the normal and universally-agreed rules of contract-making.
>>
>>27797860
Governments are exempt from whatever they feel, they're inherently broken. I can't push myself to being AnCap but fucking hell they're tempting me.

That means you haven't read enough. Any and all concerns you may have about the ideology have been addressed a hundred times over by a good deal of ancap scholars.

Most of us were libertarians, so we know full well what kind of issues you may have.

Two, the first is that it seems to run on the magic and miracles that Communism does.
The second is roads, and I know how people mock anybody who questions that, I never get a clear answer.
>private businesses would do it
How would they get paid?
>tolls
It would be obscenely inefficient. Imagine having to stop every 5 kilometers to pay another toll.
Frankly, a society where you pay every single out of pocket would probably end up costing far more for the individual than having a state that collects the money considering how much revenue comes in from businesses and rich people.
>>
>>27798675
It's a political philosophy. Political philosophy of any sort is the realm of academics. That's why you have writers like Huemer, Spooner, Nozick, Rothbard, Friedman, and the like.

>>27797894
There used to be a PDF copy of pic related floating around, I highly suggest giving it a read. It's by far the most accessible defense of the anclap ideology for regular people. It's always recommended as babby's first primer on anclapism for a reason.
>>
>>27798730
>seems to run on the magic and miracles that Communism does
What magic is this, and why is it critical to the function of anarchism?

>obscenely inefficient
Look up how people who regularly use toll roads pay, and then get back to me.

>>27798730
>considering how much revenue comes in from businesses and rich people.
What does this mean? That tax revenue from businesses and rich people is what reduces the cost for the individual? Which individual? Certainly not the wealthy man or the business-owner.

There are quite a few to have a look at:
Calgary Shooting Centre
The Shooting Edge
Cabelas
Bass Pro

I've never had trouble with the Shooting Centre. They're more tacticool oriented, but still have some very fancy shotguns and hunting rifles if you're interested in that.

Basspro is more hunting oriented, so I don't know if they'd have an M305.

Given my experience with online firearm shopping, that's pretty fast. At least they're not Marstar, who took well over three weeks.
>>
>>27805185
Whaaaat? The fuck marstar
>>
>>27805185
Wanstall's shipped a handgun to me in 6 days.
Marstar took exactly 3 weeks to send me an AR.
I live an hour from Marstar
>>
>>27805323
I'm the opposite, I actually live an hour from Wanstalls. I can directly shop offline, in-store, if I wanted to.

Marstar took three weeks just to PROCESS my order. Not to charge money to my credit card, but to just get off their lazy asses and just do it. So that's three weeks of ass-thumbery, plus the time it took for UPS to arrive at my door. And this was a non-restricted purchase, which means it should've been way faster than processing a restricted purchase.

I ordered an SA15.7, but been waiting weeks for it. I already got my firearm transfer papers on October 20th, but SFRC said they haven't received the fax from the CFO yet. Anyone got a clue what's going on?

I'm feeling kind of bored, guys, any suggestions for a gun with silly gimmicks that I could buy for shits and giggles?

Reason I'm asking here is so I can at least narrow it down to Canada-legal firearms.

I'm looking at a few Tauruses and Chiappas. Their quality isn't that great, but they do come up with some weird & interesting shit.
>>
should i get an sks or norinco m14?
>>
>>27805567
Nevermind, I just noticed you said you already have the transfer papers.
>>27805569
Tokarevs are cheap and adequate quality. I wouldn't pay the amount of money for a Taurus that they expect.
>>
>>27805578
SKS for sure.
Cheaper gun, higher quality (Russians and Chinese Military SKS are actually pretty solid), and far cheaper ammo.
>>
>>27805579
I've been seriously considering Zastava M70As, which are brand-new Serbian clones of the titty thirty-three. Besides the Tokarev cartridge, they also make them in 9mm.

It's arguably the cheapest way to own two identical handguns for dual-wielding.

How would you guys go about acquiring an un-registered pistol? Without going up to jamal on the corner, or ordering from one of those shady as fuck .onion sites?
>>
>>27809848
Can't really, unless you machined the frame yourself. Not with the restrictions you put in place. Only possible way, other than shady dealers, would be if your relatives had an unregistered pistol stashed somewhere.
>>
>>27809855
Are there any 80%s you can pick up in Canada?
>>
>>27809888
I'm not sure, but I would expect you would be able to get those 80% 1911 frames. I know there are 80% AR lowers though.
>>
>>27809946
I've thought about ordering one of the AR lowers and the milling guide for it, but I'd rather have something small as I've already got a number of NR rifles.
>>
>>27809954
You could also look into those really tiny shotguns, or something similar. I know Dominion Arms makes some 870 knockoffs that are decent, and short.
>>
>>27809961
I'd much rather have a pistol though.
