I prefer war thunder, I know some of you guys play world of tanks but I was wondering what your opinion of war thunder is. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pzgPXOw2plI
Ayy lmao I spent 50 euros on war thunder last week
so are we going to make a /k/ group on there or what?
T34-85 is sex, kills tigers all day aint afraid of nutthin
Never played WoT but I haven't really played WT for nearly a year. Patches every other day really turns me off. Also didn't like arcade, but it took way too long to join realistic matches. I got back in when they first rolled out tanks, didn't enjoy it at all. I'll probably try again when they add ships, I've been itching for a 'casual' WW1 or WW2 naval combat game for a little while.
>mfw I can't kill shit with my Panzer IV Ausführung H
Anyone play xbox version?
Got bored with grinding t10 tanks so I started allover again from scratch with the 360 version.
It's alright, amazing to play with a pad too without having to tweak stick settings on xpadder every 5 seconds.
>mfw using 3.7cm Flak 36 auf Selbstfahrlafette sd.kfz.6/2
>stug 3b incoming
>cant penetrate frontal armour
>the schnitzels decided to have a little hole for the gun periscope to look through
>unleash HEIT at said hole.
> 2 shots later stug explodes
coming from WoT, the ground combat in War Thunder feels like something of a miracle. Looking forward to some minor improvements to the physics engine, otherwise it's damn good as it is.
Too bad there aren't any serious tank sims around, unless something happened while I wasn't paying attention since the release of Blaze of War.
Rangefinding quick reference sheet. Comes in handy in simulator battles, though it takes a bit of eyeballing.
It peaks when threads like these are made which quickly leads to AHH NU CHEEKI BREEKI
It can get very silly and very fun very quickly
I unlocked the Wirbelwind, and my plane problem disappeared.
I dont make much per game, but keeping the air attacks down helps the team and such. Plus, getting that random tank kill with quad 20mm's is immensely satisfying.
It's not a bad game, but there's still some stupid bullshit going on in the air and on the ground. Also, ever since the most recent patch it's impossible to fine a historical or full real battle for tanks because Slavaboos lost the ability to have multiple tanks in a battle, so they've just stopped playing.
> Stalingrad looking map 1 tank on each side.
> Steal our team's tank at the beginning of the match. Germans.
> Spawn into it.
> Wait...What's this... I'm only the driver?
> Other player's are actually using the machine gun, main gun, and commander's position.
> This gonna be good.
> Sniper Round hits right infront of my face.
> Close battle hatch and listen to the commander's orders, staring at a small view slot.
> End up in the middle of the map.
> Being hit by everything.
> machine gunner / main gunner putting rounds out as fast as they can.
> "Enemy T-34 3 o'clock!" says commander.
> Rotate tank to put front armor to face them.
> We get hit hard by them.
> Our gunner puts a round into the turret of them.
> Our machine gunner is shooting the enemy infantry.
> Commander is yelling "Reverse! Reverse!"
> Put it in reverse hard.
> Commander is yelling to keep shooting.
> We get hit again.
> Continue moving backwards while changing view, I look up at the gunner and he's dead. A leg's blown off and laying on the machine gunner's shoulder, Who's also now missing a head.
Commander moves down and takes over gunning.
> I reverse the tank into an alleyway barely big enough to fit out tank, using map knowledge alone.
> open the battle hatch, figure I want to at least see the other tank kill us.
> enemy tank comes arund the alley way, side completely exposed.
> Their commander's head explodes as a friendly sniper must have taken him out and he wasn't buttoned up.
> Our commander (Now gunner) put's a round into the side of the tank and it explodes.
Tank's in RO2 were awesome.
I'd play War Blunder since they updated but this computer can only run WoT, WT is just too laggy for some reason.
>WoT puts tiger against leveled enemies instead of what it would fight in real life
>'arcade tank fighting'
>WT puts tigers up against what it would fight in ww2
>"Realistic tank fighting"
Its such a bummer that Ghost Recon is dead....
GRAW had the best community and gameplay of any game that I have experienced EVER, and I have been playing online since 1989, before most of you little bastards were even born. Anyway, have a trailer from the new game which was actually pretty decent, but garbage compared to the originals. (start at 10:00)
>No one on this board is old enough to remember the glory of Metal Gear Online, and SOCOM 2 on the PS2 with that big ass ethernet adapter box sticking out the back that melted your carpet
>Airfield, tonks only
>Everyone rushes towards the enemy, where massive slugging match ensues
>On voice chat
>"Hey, whoever's my gunner, I'm going to try and flank them"
>Drive around the absolute flank
>There's a slight depression
>Holy shit, we're in defilade, right on their flank!
>Sheeeeeeet, let's do this.
>Another one bites the dust
>This isn't even fair
And so on, until we win the match. Germans didn't even know where we were until the last minute or so. It was fantastic.
No. MGO 2 was on PS3 like 5 years later. MGO1 was on PS2.
>you must think the average age of 4chan is really young
You must be new here. The vast majority of people here arent even old enough to remember 9/11
Anyone like playing strategy, rts type games? I love wargame: red dragon even though its broken, glitches, ect. I just wish it had co-op campaign like alb.
Wargame is great. If you want something more realistic with stuff like chemical weapons and even tactical nukes look up Flashpoint Campaigns Red Storm
Eh, it's a more casual version of Wargame. This was basically the devs prototyping some of the ideas they would later use in Wargame, not to mention they used Ubisoft's funding to develop the Wargame engine before leaving the publisher.
RUSE is a fun game no doubt, but its far more arcadey than Wargame.
I fucking love wargame. Anyone play often?
>During development Eugen asked people on the forums to provide surnames for the in-game surname pool to use in the kill logs
>Provide my own because why not
>Only see it once when a poor transportation corps truck driver got completely BTFO by an airstrike
A-Anyone else like Ace Combat?
>Japanese Air Combat arcade fun
Not totally realistic but it was still fun as shit.
>tfw your name didn't make it
Its because I'm Italian.
i enjoy war thunder mostly air battles tried the ground warfare its a bit different from WOT.
currently stuck on some red orchestra.
looking for fellow /k/omandos to play with.
>no Spec Ops: The Line
>no Red Orchestra
what are you of doings
I loves me some Ace Combat, including that one that no one names.
Shattered Skies was my favorite, but I really liked 6 as well, aside from Shamrock being an annoying cunt.
I haven't played War Thunder in a long time, and I recently booted it up yesterday and I was genuinely surprised. It seems a lot more fun than I remembered, and the tanks are real enjoyable.
It's fun if you're Russians or Brits. The arcade meta revolves around having the most firepower since the big-bore cannons have none of the disadvantages they do IRL. Maneuverability means nothing since everyone has similar performance.
>implying I like waiting 10 minutes for a match
>implying I like flying 5 minutes to the target
>implying I like trying to play spot-the-dot
>implying I want IRtrack/similar programs to be pretty much mandatory
There's a reason the realism jockeys always come over to the arcade forums to try and recruit people. No one wants to play it because it's not fun and it's not complex enough for a full-fledged sim.
Arma 3 is pretty fun.
If anyone in this thread wants to play with an Arma 3 group, feel free to message me on steam.
ohgod EE. i absolutely lurved sneaking battallionsworth of fusiliers through mountains and around the maps, just to swarm down at an enemy CP at inopportune moments.
hated that command star system, though
I started playing Men of War and it's pretty great and unexpected, i could love it over Company of heroes,
how are the other games like Red Tides, Condemned Heroes and Vietnam if i only want to play for the singleplayer campaign ?
i heard Assault squad is just for multiplayer and i suck at it
>throw anti tank grenade
>unit was a bit too close in the blast range
>get knocked down and lose helmet
>have to pick it up back
that lovely detail
red tide has some bullshit levels
>10 man squad
>to take town, hold town against counterattack, then take supply depot, the HOLD supply depot
shit was operator ass all FUCK, ambushing patrols and armor and then running from a tank as it mowed down my commies.
Red Tide is for people who found the base Men of War too easy. It's all about the totally real and unembellished heroism of the black sea marines with the average mission requiring you to stop a Romanian infantry division using six brave comrades, 3 rifles and the eternal class struggle of the proletariat.
Don't know about Condemned Heroes, Vietnam isn't very good.
Oh man, Men of War is full of those little details
>Explosions knock trees over
>Every other game in existence the trees just fall down and fade away from the level
>Here they remain as dynamic cover for infantry
Enemy decided to shell my position, what he didn't realise is that all this did is provide a bunch for ambush opportunities for my guys
Get Assault Squad 2, the singleplayer is pretty fun in it even if the mission objectives are basic attack/defend/ambush
I really like the new short movie they did for War Thunder, also that other video where its like slowed down for a little bit.
I really want insurgency, but I'm saving up for a new head unit and speakers for my truck. I know its only $15 but I'm going full fledged savings mode on anything that isn't a necessity.
Assault Squad 2 has gr8 single player. The attack maps are pretty fun, I've had some hard games lasting like 8 hours.
And your units have a kill counter now, which is really neat
Men of War is GOAT. A little lacking in graphics but otherwise amazing. Assault Squad 2 is great and I cant wait for Call of Arms so I can actually operate operationally in operations
More content basically. They ported some of the missions, a lot are new.
Basically don't bother with AS1 because AS2 is just an upgraded version which also works in multiplayer (seriously, it's really fun you should give it a shot)
Thanks. Assault Squad 2 is now for sure one of the first items on my list when I get my gaymen rig up and running. I had a blast with AS1 but I ttok a long hiatus from vidya and heard that the servers got shut down.
You don't have to pay full price for it, I got my copy here http://cdkeyshere.com/men-of-war-assault-squad-2-cd-key.html the site is legit
Also, game runs on a laptop with no issues (it's better optimised than AS1) so dont' worry about picking it up before you get your rig
Ok, good luck with your next PC then, hopefully they'll continue porting Assault Squad 1 mods to 2 (the game has mod tools, did I mention that?)
I ran into some of you fags then.
Not really, piss easy to murder heavies all day. They're way too slow to react in AB and can be avoided in RB.
Pain in the ass in sim battles but thats queue thunder so nobody plays it.
Its funny how the T-34 is more durable driving backwards. Panthers and tigers are easy, KTs, IS-2s and JagPanthers are pain in the ass.
I do wish they added more tank specific optics.
And MGs, MG range finding is quick as fuck.
Tier 2 with Germans can be rough, but I've had good luck with the Panzer 3 Ausf M. Surprisingly durable, and the rate of fire is great.
What helped me a lot was the inclusion of the armor and module view. Once I knew where ammo racks, engines and fuel tanks were, I have had a much easier time taking out heavy targets like KV's and Tigers. I recommend messing with the module view a bit, it should definitely help with getting more one-shot kills.
All of the FWs are pretty good for German Air, as well as all of the Dos in the heavy fighter line. For ground units, the German F2 is godly, and DO NOT underestimate the 2nd german AA gun, it can fucking wreck tanks because it fires so fast.
whoa whoa hold the phone nigger, I distinctly remember having to hook a big Ethernet adapter to the back of my PS2 to play MGS3 online.
I got my shit slapped like no other but that was a hard game when I was younger.
>I can remember a buddy of mine playing the original with the standard camera angles, killing EVERYONE with the 1911 and shit and wondering why The Sorrow was such a pain in the ass
good times... good times...
I liked MGO from MGS4, the box swapping rolling simulator.
I wonder what Phantom Pain is going to be like.
Mount and Blade: Warband is a medieval military game.
Fuck the vanilla game tho. Gotta play that cRPG mod. RPG + Medieval death match rounds + a full-scale strategy game on the side with a real time map on which players build armies and trade and initiate battles over castles and shit.
Billion different weapons too. Nothing like lancing a bigger while wearing a bridal dress.
Every Ace Combat game has had great music.
Even Assault Horizon.
Free to play bullshit that just manages to save itself through having fun gameplay and GOAT music.
Visit /aceg/ in /vg/, they're pretty friendly.
>no Bonger tanks in WT
>Bonger ships are being held back in world of warships in favor of Russian players
t-thanks russian bias..
If the ruskies were anymore OP in arcade battle theyd be the overlords of the world
Having said that there is nothing more satisfying than using the Tiger I.
88mm doesnt understand sloped armor
>Doing your damndest to keep the glacis pointed at the enemy
Good on that tanker. This was my pet peeve when I was addicted to BF3
>Playing with usual crew of friends
>I am well on the way to tank mastery
>Fail to get to tank first. Riding MG gunner for my friend.
>At some point we get into a fight. I spot armor to our right.
>Inform my friend
>He immediately fucking stops dead and turns the turret to engage
>I am yelling at him to turn the hull around so the front is facing them
>"It doesn't fucking matter anon."
>We fucking die to a shell right up our asshole
>I rage fucking hard. Retard knows I tank the hardest.
>Get one and make him MG for me
>Successfully engage and assrape FOUR enemy tanks to my one because I'm not stupid enough to leave our ass within reach
>I FUCKING TOLD YOU IT FUCKING MATTERS.
Now that I think about it, I was a HUGE autist on that game. Bitching about everything I didn't like because it didn't match the real world..
Those long nights of Conquest were fun as fuck, though. I loved my PKM setup too..
>round glances off the turret roof and into the commander's copula
>fragments on the opposite wall of the copula
>all that fragmentation gets funneled into the crew area, gibbing the crew and totaling turret equipment, knocking out the tank
Pretty enjoyable. Ground forces is eating a lot of my time lately. No complaints though.
Pretty good casual game overall.
I have a stick/throttle/pedals set up. It's alright in WT but I get most of my use out of it in DCS.
I love Delta Force Black Hawk Down. I probably spent a year playing that damn game.
That, and DF2.
Haven't heard anything from Novalogic in ages, though.
Currently playing a lot of Rise of Nations.
Apparently Novalogic still exists, but DFX2 was their last project and the word is that Angel Falls is vaporware, so I don't know how they're making enough money to sustain themselves now.
i love this tank, probably one of my favorites of wwII. Its just an intimidating brickshithouse of a tank
War Thunder is currently not very good. Don't get me wrong, stay away from Wargaming products. But War Thunder's community is derpy, the devs don't know what they're doing (not to mention treating their customers like they're the enemy,) and it's a constant merry-go-round of OP and UP for every nation.
I don't like the fact that they added limited respawns in ground battles tbh. I get that it's supposed to ensure players act strategically during matches but for those that get unlucky or just asspounded you end up being unable to respawn when only a third of the way through. I thought the three, two and one respawn schtick they had going on for light, medium and heavy tanks was pretty good.
Depends on who you want to use, and what modes you want to play. Sim is shit. If you're going to do that, just go buy an actual sim. Arcade is okay for what it is, but still shit. Realistic is okay, but the matchmaking is terrible with 1945 aircraft going up against 1942 aircraft.
Ground forces is much the same. It's obvious that Gaijin is a company that is primarily focused on aircraft. Their basic understanding of anything on the ground is preschool at best.
I like where this is going.jpg
Fucking A-10 is OP in Infinity.
><<Gunner, give 'em Steel Raaaaain>>
