UFOs dumb gimmick was a refreshing change for the series. Each game has progressively been getting worse and its why Zun has been attempting dumb gimmicks for each newer game and they are all really hit or miss. Either way the 2hu glory days are gone with PCB being the best game in the entire series still.

I think the opposite with regards to an ending. I think a definitive "End" to Touhou's world would be extremely unfitting. There isn't even really a huge overarching story, just a bunch of mini-arcs.
