I like all three newhus and their themes. The characters all have pretty amusing personalities (it's probably helped by the variety of the cast), and their BGMs are pretty good, though not fantastic.

Aunn is my favorite due to her gimmick and the implication from WaHH that she's been at Reimu's shrine for a while now. I love when Reimu has to deal with nuisances living at her shrine. I also like her theme a lot.

I will be honestly disappointed if Yuuka, the Akis, Lily, and Letty don't all appear. It's a seasonal game, you need the seasonal characters. That just seems like common sense, I feel like it'd be a huge missed opportunity to not have characters like "The Flower Master of the Four Seasons" in it. Maybe put them in the Extra. Yuuka's nendo coming out seems like it'd be a pretty big coincidence though.

The only theme that really shines is the menu theme. Just as good as 8 and 13.

You can read the CDs at any time; Maribel and Renko's story is only loosely related to the main story.

You'll want to play most mainline games and spin-offs before each manga, but save GFW for after you get familiar with the Sangetsusei series and ULiL for after you're familiar with Ibarakasen. Suzunaan can pretty much be read any time after you're current in the games (excluding 16), and Silent Sinner in Blue is really the only part of Bougetsushou that you need to read. I believe that Kourindou can be read at any time, but I barely remember it.

Going by release date would be a safe way to do it, but I usually just end up binging on them and read an entire series in a one or two sessions.

Etarnity and Nemuno seem like reasonable indicators. Etarnity's theme is extremely dark, mysterious, and dramatic for a fairy, to the point that a lot of nips seem to think she'll be EX midboss just from it alone. Nemuno's character has some dark elements to it between direct references to murder in her spell cards and a very violent theme. Depending on how far the fairy mutation progresses and/or their implications, it could get dark/creepy like that because nobody expects seriousness from fairies. Since the game is about them in particular, maybe some dark revelation about the nature of fairies and their existence or role in Gensokyo.

I doubt the game will go full edge/horror, just some dark themes and implications like are seen periodically in the side materials.

I have replayed the demo for 30 times and I don't remember a single tune.
It feels like Zun changed his style since DDC and opted for composition and immersion instead of catchy tune (except for Clownpiece's and Junko's theme).

I really like autumn Reimu. The homing shots can cover most situations. The additional autumn shots are also fairly strong to quickly kill big fairies.
For stage clearing and boss fights, this combo can help me in almost all situations. The release is also damn strong.
