What do you think about Kageaki Minato from Fullmetal Daemon Muramasa?

Is he miserable person who was there in wrong place and wrong time?
Or is he crazy sociopath motivated by too strong trauma?

True end should have been him killing old man and Muramasa. Him becoming a grorious leader and ">crazy sociopath motivated by too strong trauma?" doesn't make sense at all considering how guilty he felt over killing innocents in the past.
