Very light with a lot of bergamot, kinda like earl grey tea.

Although it's supposedly unisex, it's definitely on the feminine end of the spectrum.

Unfortunately it's quite gimmicky; it's very apparent that the oils used are of low quality and even the packaging is bad for a fragrance; a metal screw cap on glass with no rubber seal of any kind to prevent evaporation.

Of course it was also extremely inexpensive for a fragrance so it's not like the people in Japan who got it were ripped off.

It does smell nice though

I have listened to everything by Nakata except for Kyary Pamyu Pamyu. Have I missed out on something or? I have avoided her for stupid reasons like her image and fanbase, but I'm considering putting those reasons aside and grabbing the albums.

frank is mad because perfume made him happy. perfume made ME happy. much like frank I discovered perfume around the time I broke up from a long term relationship and perfume probably made me happier than that relationship ever did. I discovered them in 2013 which I'd later find out would be one of the final years they were a decent band. they were still 3 energetic girls with a real passion and drive to produce quality content and everyone on every level was dedicated to their art and it reflected in the final product. everyone except for amuse. amuse never cared but that never came across because the stylists, the directors, nakata, the stage crew and mikiko all had a passion for their work and all wanted to experiment and create a new look and sound that complemented perfume. it was like a 3 course dinner where you had the finest chefs of their field creating each dish. now no one cares not even the girls. something you could at least say in 2014 and maybe 2015 is that A-chan and the other girls genuinely still cared so even if nakata and mikiko lost their passion you could still ignore that and appreciate what every other member of the perfume team had to offer. at this point in 2017 it is impossible to ignore that on every single level, perfume is devoid of passion and has ceased to produce anything with any sort of artistic value. each level is devoid of art.

perfume is no longer a band that makes people happy as just observing it with a slightly critical eye reveals it for the emotionless cash grab it is. ironically now that the emotionless vocals that A-chan always hated are gone, there is nothing left unique about perfume and their product feels completely emotionless as a result.

amuse never cared about anything but money and now that cancerous practice has spread to every level. perfume is on life support and if you love perfume you'll pull the plug and let them move on to the next stage of their life so they can find alternative happiness. it's what they deserve after their years of service to the fans. perfume doesn't make us happy, perfume doesn't make perfume happy. it's time to kill perfume for perfumes sake and for ours.

Moshi Moshi Harajuku is a really fantastic release. If you let yourself forget what a soulless marketing machine her act has become and think about the EP in the context of when it was released there's a lot to respect about it. PONPONPON is obviously the star, being the first time Nakata made something really 'fun' since Fruits Clipper. The cleanliness of the production means that it's nowhere near as spirited as Fruits Clipper but it's not really supposed to be. The whole EP is sort of a distillation of Kyary's image to make something that seemed to a lot of people to be such a perfect representation of 'kawaii culture' or whatever you want to call it that it immediately felt like it had been around forever.

All of this might be pointless though if you're avoiding her because of her image. The whole essence of Kyary is the combination of her image and the music. Maintaining this image by consistently keeping Sebastian Masuda and Tamukai Jun (until things went off the rails) at the helm was probably more important than staying exclusive to Nakata.

These days Tamukai doesn't direct the videos (and they're shit as a result) but Nakata still produces the songs (and they're shit as a result), so don't get your hopes up about anticipating new releases.

There are plenty of other tracks to enjoy in her discography but Moshi Moshi is the only release that I can really recommend as a package.

Agreed. Moshi Moshi Harajuku is a great EP and probably her only cohesive project. Her albums also have some decent tracks, but the rest are god-awful fillers, so be a bit wary. I suggest anon to listen to her discography from 2011 to 2015, with Mondai Girl being last. After that everything goes downhill and downright unlistenable.

the more I think about it, I think Nocchi's autistic behaviour might just be a means of self-preservation and evolved into a means of keeping the group relevant.

Girl groups always try to have members stand out from one another to appeal to a wider audience, and generally, one girl or the other takes center stage.

So naturally, with her superior speaking skills and charisma, that girl should have been A~chan. And let's face it, Kashiyuka doesn't really show enough of a personality to stand out. All that's left is the Nocchi and even she can't match up to A~chan's power levels.

So in comes the "autism". Ever since she joined in middle school as the group's third wheel, she knew she would have to stand out one way or the other. And she started off big with the whole bathroom confession story. You have to consider that those messages are from quirky preteen girls so they shouldn't be too reliable when it comes to assessing the girls. If anything, Nocchi might just be overly excited doing this time capsule sort of thing. I'll need to see more to confirm.

Though what I do find a little odd is the willingness of the other girls to throw Nocchi under the bus. I get a little teasing here and there but with how constant it has been it just feels a bit like bullying. It could very well be that Nocchi has accepted this kind of behaviour and instead of calling them out, and hurting the group as a whole, she plays along. Her looking lost in space could be a coping mechanism or a way of getting back at the girls without being overly overt.

So I'm relatively new to Perfume, though I like lots of Yasutaka Nakata's other stuff (Capsule, Kyary, Coltemonikha) and don't know what to listen to next.

I listened to GAME, and the standout tracks to me were Polyrhythm, Game, and Secret Secret.

I especially hated Chocolate Disco.

Anything you folks recommend?

GAME/Triangle was Perfume at their best, when the creative fire was burning. afterwards, they became kind of complacent.

Before the golden era was retro/classic Perfume, represented by Complete Best. if you didn't like Chocolate Disco, the upbeat kawaii style of retro Perfume may not appeal to you. early on their whole sound was different, GAME marked the shift towards harder electropop.

JPNs high points are almost as good as the golden era, but its low points are filler junk. Level3 is more consistent. COSMIC EXPLORER is decent, especially when you hear it live, but it's not that much better or worse than level3.

CE is good, but is not consistent Durban to all those pop singles, if Nakata make it two disc : one for all singles And one disc is dedicated for CE theme and add other hard song that don't have perfume sound on it (episode 0, atmospheric entry) it has a potential to be really great
