I managed to get my nephews into tabletop roleplaying. Kids already like to roleplay, so I just told them to use a dice when they disagree on who is right and narrated some scenarios for them to roleplay, little by little we added rules and now I'm DMing a homebrew for them. I also got them to read Yotsuba. I'd like to introduce them to touhou, but they can't into computers yet.
But well, they listen to every stupid thing I say because I'm just a cool relative for them, it would not work the same way as a parent. I would just let them have their own hobbies, but if somehow they got into touhou by themselves I'd try for them not to be secondaries.

Actually, I wouldn't start out with 2hu. In a very complex version of 4D chess I would take the same steps my dad did which ended in myself getting into 2hu. To start with, the most important and vital step is to let them sit on your lap while you play videogames, of any kind. Watch star trek, star wars, battlestar, and other entry level "nerd" stuff with them in the room. When they get old enough, start taking them to restaurants with arcade machines, These are harder to find, but they can be found, and they are pretty great. This vital step of the master plan involves challenging them to games of Galaga and other old shit. Don't forget to give them your old legos. In the car, listen to rock, specifically from the 70s and 80s. They will most likely come to enjoy this music unless they have shit taste. The final and most important step is to let their interests flourish on their own without appearing too invested in it. You may be wondering what this has to do with touhou, but the truth is that you can't make someone enjoy something. You can however raise them in such a way that they have as open a mind as possible to things that are different or strange to the norm. In this way they will probably end up eventually getting into anime and from there branch out to other japanese media. It's best not to introduce them to anime as a child because they will see it as kiddy stuff when they get all insecure and shit in middle school.

It's not flawless, but it sets the stage for their interests.
