Normie pop stuff is about conditioning the listener to come back for more, by using proven methods and getting the masses to agree. These motivations will feel "fake" to somebody looking to expand their consciousness beyond those limitations. I personally feel that real denpa, at least by the sound of it, carries a power and importance to fans for expressly the latter reason. It's not about genres of music, specifically, but rather an attitude going in/coming out of the sounds.

Once one is freed from the constraints that normie pop/techno/dubstep/trap music puts on people as a whole, it is then easier to recognize the difference for oneself. And as far as lyrics go, I couldn't say what is or isn't denpa: I don't understand them. It would seem that a simple love song could be just as powerful as any crazy themes, given the music is not so ordinary.

Anyways, it is not an easy thing for most people to understand. Good luck to you/do your best.

The channel in question uploaded just two songs, this is the first time the whole album is available on Youtube. This is not the first time I do this, because I think one should listen to albums, not isolated songs.

Maybe you should post the URL to my channel yourself, I'm not ashamed of what I am doing. If you do, people around here will see denpa releases represent less than 1/4 of what I have already uploaded. They will also the majority of them aren't even available on RTL. And last but not least, the will see the huge majority of my uploads have less than a hundred views and that I have less than a hundred followers.

Denpa is such a hard "genre" to understand.

It is easy with the really over the top, odd tracks but something like Under17 is considered denpa, right? That is already very close to regular anison sometimes. Many other random artists also sound more or less like cutesy anison.

It's best to think of it as a loose category than a music genre in the same way rock or techno are. To begin with, the name just implies that it's music you'd have to be under the influence of the "poison radio waves" to want to listen to, it doesn't suggest anything about the style of the music.

For example, depending on who you ask, this can be considered an early example of a denpa song (predating the term by several decades, in fact):

This is actually the theme song of the evil organization (the Shineshine-dan) from superhero show Rainbowman. Why could it be considered a denpa song? Because it's basically telling you to die over a hundred times, you yellow pig.

Of course, this is not the kind of music you typically find these threads, which tends to be doujin music and anison deeply entrenched in otaku culture (anime voices, bleepy-bloopy arrangements, lyrics about a tsundere robot maid etc. to name some stereotypical examples) and whose heritage can be traced back to eroge from the late nineties/early oughts attracting customers with bizarre themesongs, not tokusatsu from the seventies. But even within that space there are different things that can make something "denpa". Since you mentioned UNDER17, consider their debut song Ichigo GO! GO! (which actually is the themesong of a 2001 eroge):

While it's not anything a mainstream artist would produce, the composition, arrangement or even Momoi's falsetto aren't really things you wouldn't be able to find in a kids' anime. Except... the lyrics have a BDSM theme. The obi of the CD also recommends the customer to listen to it secretly by themselves.

Sad to tell you this, but there is no Vol 2. This circle always had some trouble with the composer, Fen. He made a homepage and crossfade for Vol 2 indicating all the songs were done.

However, on the day of M3, there was no sign of him, and his other circle members were at the table with no CDs to sell. A line of fans formed waiting until the event closed hoping he would show up, but he never did. He apologized via twitter and said he would improve the CD and add more songs, and sell it online. Then he said he would sell it at Comike before online sales. However, once again he didn't show up without a word to his circle members or fans.

His circle members saw this as the last straw and left the group, explaining he always was causing problems and not keeping his word. He was never active on twitter again. So the 2nd CD was never sold, and the first CD is quite rare as he had all the stock of it, and never sold it via consignment shops.

The CD had actually been printed too. It's a tragedy for the circle members and fans.

Ok lads, while sorting my for sale CDs, I found a special ココ CD that iirc came for free with the ココ & ななひら るぶちゅ CD a few years back. It seems to be the first time she calls herself 小紺ココ. Listening through it now, there are a few tracks that were then used in later compilation albums with a couple of original tracks as well. I'll rip it some time tonight.
