Fun fact: Both Aya and Utsuho are both referred to as "karasu," which means "crow," in Japan. Japanese don't differentiate between crows and ravens unless they're scientists or birdwatchers.

Therefore, it is English speakers who came up with the idea of calling Utsuho a raven, even though she is considered a crow like Aya in Japan.

Ravens are a type of crow. Ravens are generally just the bigger crows. There are crow and raven species that are more closely related to each other than other crows or ravens. The difference is entirely linguistic and other languages aren't wrong to not make the distinction.

That said, while crows and ravens are very intelligent birds, they are still only birds. Aya is not a crow, but rather a crow tengu, a highly-intelligent, long-lived humanlike people with some Corvidic attributes. The dumb bird just can't hope to compete with Aya's superior, refined, tengu intellect and innumerable lifetimes' worth of wisdom. The dumb bird is also not as cute as the tengu but that's neither here nor there.
