So tell me about dies irae if anyone actually read it here.
I know its known for have hard japanese but whats it like exactly? does it have fleshed out characters or is character focused? is it mature or childish? is it more a total action vn like tokyo battle was ( I would hate this) or more plot focused and character focused at least then that.
I can't see how its bad like that after all this praise from the ends of the earth since before /jp/.
plus if it was written in hard jap, would it still have a bad plot or turn out bad in English?

Also a retard question that ticked me off but does this vn bare any resemblance to FSN because my retarded friend who has no idea what it is who read the description without knowing its praise or how big a deal this is said that, while it really sounds nothing like it.
>>
Anybody? would like to give my friend a clearer picture or myself really.
>>
Why are you bumping your thread after 6 minutes
>>
>>17059855
sorry, really waited for this game since the old days on here.
>>
Arent nazis like real evil or something? I will tell your mom you are playing nazi porn games OP.
>>
>>17059879
Well that would be awkward since i'm a grown ass man.
>>
I didn't read FS/N, so I can't comment about its supposed similarity to Dies irae, but I did read Dies irae.

About its language I have to say I really enjoyed the way its written in Japanese, Masada's vocabulary and the speaking style he uses for some characters. This will be inevitably lost in translation, so it's gonna be inferior to the original Japanese experience. But ultimately you shouldn't care, if the original Japanese experience is unavailable to you.

It has extremely fleshed out characters, especially on the villains side. They all extensively speak about their worldviews and act accordingly. The plot is important too, cause it slowly unveils the world's interesting lore to you. Spoilers will probably be all over the internet once it comes out in English, even more than they are now, and I'd say you should avoid them.

Also note that the game only uses Nazi imagery as, well, imagery. Swastika is used extensively in its Buddhist meaning too. Main antagonist is Reinhard Heydrich, real life Nazi, but the one in Dies irae has nothing in common wirth the real one and even mocks Hitler and Himmler for how ignorant and stupid their plans for German empire and shit are. The real stakes in Dies irae go much higher after all.

Sounds like the plot of Captain America 1
>>
>>17060204
Maybe in some superficial way. Obviously they're not even close in terms of content.
>>
>>17060046
huh well that sounds nothing like FSN, I mean I knew it was retarded to ask.
>>
>>17060046
So it doesn't go full shounen right, like what happened with Tokyo babel, nothing but poor written fights and really no deep plot or character development?
>>
>>17061764
Pure depictions of fighting are a smaller part of the game than you might think.

>Tokyo babel, nothing but poor written fights and really no deep plot or character development
It's definitely not like this. If anything, the fights in DI sometimes contain downtime with discussions about what's happening and characters' worldviews. In the endgame time kinda loses meaning, so there's time to talk.
>>
>>17061802
I read a lot of it and I didnt like it at all.
>>
>>17062322
Do you refer to DI or Tokyo Babel?
>>
>>17062388
Tokyo Babel, the battles were way too long and they went right after another at some point and it wasnt fun reading them. I didnt like the MC at all either.
>>
>>17061630
To be fair, they're both sort of similar in that they share the basic premise of "Japanese high-school boy gets dragged into supernatural battle royale taking place in his otherwise irrelevant hometown because reasons." At least I think that more or less describes the premise of DI, it's been a long time since I read any of it. As that other poster said, the Nazi stuff is largely superficial, like the Christian/Kabbalah imagery in Eva sort of.
>>
>>17064071
really so that nazi stuff really is not mentioned in the plot much, like what he the author get chicken.

And yeah ok so its why my friend said that. but are you saying thats all thats similar. is it better plot wise?
>>
>>17064071
Well also hows the MC, is he interesting or a typical shounen MC. does he have a personality.
>>
>>17064717
He wishes for time to stop. (Not spoilers, this is the first line one the game after the prologue.)
>>
>>17064853
Thanks for the disclaimer, for a sec I thought I got spoiled, now I still have the will to read Dies.
>>
>>17064853
So hes not a idiot white knight
>>
>>17066871
As I already said, character explain and debate their viewpoints, MC included, so ultimately noone acts thoughtlessly.

I want to add to this, the biggest charm of Masada's works is his vocabulary and the way he words his sentences. Without going full /lit/fag and saying that "only plebs read for the plot", you can only hope they at least did a decent job with characters like Mercurius or even the MC.

They'll likely fail though. You'd need someone like Aleister Crowley or something to be able to write chuuni in English while still being able to take itself seriously.
>>
>>17066919
>so ultimately noone acts thoughtlessly.
Ahem
mostly kidding
>>
repetitive wordy fight after wordy fight.

I won't be surprised when half of the english community will ctrl skip 1/10th of the game.
>>
>>17080341
I guess I understand being annoyed with fights when one has to look up several words every sentence like you had to.
>>
>>17080512
nope. You can't deny that the fights are long as fuck and I'm simply saying a lot of people will find it frustrating. You'll see.
