Touhou lore is probably my favourite thing about Touhou. I love knowing more about the characters, so when a new book comes I go read it as fast as I can.

Aside that, I also like secondary works, they are good when you have nothing to do and there is nothing new for the lore, I probably read/watched lots of secondary works because I enjoy them, but I know what is canon and what not, it isn't that hard to difference them. It's all about enjoying the Touhou universe.

I kind of feel like Flan is the most varied interpretation because we barely know anything about the canon Flan. Even with the revised bio's in SCoOW she is basically listed with a big fat unknown for most of her traits.

About all we know of her personality is the few lines in EoSD and just that one snippet from BAiJR with her being a bratty little sister to Remi.

In fact it is kind of weird how much we know about the rest of the less popular cast.

I almost don't believe people when they say they're not secondaries. Even 10-odd years ago, when I got into Touhou,it was impossible not to be introduced to the music and doujin before the games.

Touhou was one of the titles of otaku internet casually popping out on my head, but to a much more lesser degree than Kancolle, barelly hearing the name a few times over 4 years of Internet.
I only got contact indirectly with because those little yukkurins appeared on some corners, nothing else. It was my doing to actually search what was Touhou, other than a pair of blonde "witches" pics I casually came across years ago (Marisa and Mugetsu)

If you're not into otaku world that much, but you vaguely heard about a bullet hell game that you can download and play, it's not that hard to get into it.
