Finished PK and Traps route. Demento's route was short and poorly handled. If only they tried to be less edgy with him I would have actually enjoyed him. As for the trap, I'm glad Astrum bullying was still happening, and all the side characters are great. I like them more than Libera himself. So far the game is good, but calling it great would be a stretch. The battle music is 10/10 though.

I want to start Radius next, but I'm going to go with NPC first.

If you know how to write Japanese it is pretty easy to get points and currency by just good old-fashioned posting. There's a guide written in Japanese on how to do it with an explanation of what each subforum is about, what kind of things to write, etc. posted there somewhere. Apparently you still get points and stuff for posting in Japanese, it doesn't have to be in Chinese (can't confirm though). I've considered typing up a little OD guide before considering there's not very much information about it in English (at least the last time I checked, which was like... 4 years ago). Just like how to join, navigate the forum, how all the various points work, etc., nothing against their rules or mind-blowing. But I'm not sure if people would then try to be ~heroes~ and grab everything and reupload them. These people are damn serious with all their "NO REUPLOAD" stuff (the otome community in general from what I've seen, not just OD. Don't know if anyone else remembers the anime-sharing uploader drama a few years back). I don't know if they have people 24/7 searching into Google anything related to OD/otome uploads but stuff spreads fucking fast. I can't speak for this thread, but at least for the otome threads that were on /vg/, random japs in a 2ch thread were watching it, so it's not like we're some isolated club (again this was several years ago).
I mean honestly though, the only "hard" part is becoming a member. Yeah some stuff needs a higher rank to view or maybe you run out of currency, but those can both be got by just posting. Obviously I wish otome stuff were like normal games, movies, eroge, etc. and didn't have to be all weird exclusive club stuff, but unfortunately that's the way it is. We don't have multiple sources/uploaders like those do. Well, if you're a more casual fan that's just interested in the big game releases anime-sharing seems to be doing a pretty good job and you could give no fuck about OD, but if you want non-game stuff like magazine scans, radio, or more obscure stuff in general, you have to deal with them. Not even things like Share/Clubbox/50th page of Google is going to help you.
All that said, there's always the horrifying last resort method of not being a stinking pirate and just buying stuff

So I finally completed Taisho Alice, narrowly missing my original goal of finishing before the release of that terrible localization even after all the delays. Though I enjoyed some routes much more than others, it ended up being a great game thanks to fun comedy, a stellar heroine, and an interesting overarching plot. Akazukin and Gretel were my favorites. My least favorite would be Cinderella, whose route had me pretty much just skimming for the last chunk. Epilogue did feel largely unnecessary, but I did like the backstory segments. I'll have to get the FD eventually.

My boy rankings would be: Akazukin>Gretel>Alice>Ookami>Mahoutsukai>Kaguya=Shirayuki>Ryoushi=Cinderella

The ED song grew on me and it looks like it's included in a Love Solfege album coming out later this month, so I'll be looking forward to that.

Yeah, it's been a laggy battery drain. They just did a maintenance which seems to have cleared some of the bugs. I don't know if Rui sleeping all day and going into other people's rooms at night is intentional but that's been hilarious.

I've been playing A3 for about a week or maybe a bit over, rank 47 so far. I don't know if I'm just crazy but the protagonist seems really great. Especially considering some mobile games I played just straight-up don't really have a protag since they just have them be silent. And for some reason it feels kinda good to play as an actual adult instead of a 15 year old highschooler, even though that doesn't necessarily bother me or anything.

(Unrelated) I don't actually have a particular dislike for "weak protags" that a lot of people seem to, although some things typical weak protags do can annoy the hell out of me, like blushing and stuttering at every cheesy line any male character says. And in fact occasionally some protags that are meant to be "strong" just end up seeming way too tryhard in a way and nearly cringey worst-case scenario to me (off the top of my head, Tsubasa no Oka no Hime). Personally, I'd like to see more protags with just plain unique personalities, like the one from Kaeru Batake de Tsukamaete. She was a qt.

Which OP was your favorite? After the rock version all the others felt too slow for me.

I felt the same way about the routes. Some of them have large details left out that makes them feel incomplete. Once everything is revealed you can piece everything together and understand why it was done, but it does subtract from the experience while you're in the middle of it. Shirayuki's in particular suffered a lot from having a jumble of foreshadowing that made it hard to know what the fuck was going on at times.
Kaguya's on the other hand stood alone perfectly and might be my favorite route in an otoge ever.

Well, I've played the Diabolik Lovers series and stuff and I can still enjoy myself, so maybe I sounded more upset than I really am. The main reason I get salty isn't necessarily "hurr durr dumb weak females liking what I don't like" but rather that while there's a lot of stuff catered specifically to submissive people there's not as much for dominant people (talking specifically otome games here). Oh man. One of the very few drama CDs out of the mountains I've listened to that I still kept on my harddrive/relisten. I also liked the Reversible series a decent amount. I'm the same that I much prefer a non-doM one as opposed to one that has an actual doM personality.

I've felt like a-s has been doing a pretty good job, all things considered (as in, it isn't private). Unless you're wanting doujin stuff, Blackish House Side Z, Gakuen Club PC port, Taishou Alice Heads & Tails are all pretty recent releases that has been uploaded. Since I have an abysmally large backlog that's been growing since like 2012, I decided to start going through it in chronological order before I start playing all the newer fancier games. But they're so old that anything to say about them has been said and anyone who would be interested in playing it would have played it already so I figured no point posting. But I guess I might as well.

I'm out of the real old-old era and am now starting the 2010-12 ones. Currently I've been reading the PC port of Nise no Chigiri. It stuck out to me because not all the heroes were the average prettyboys, I mean one of them is a straight-up ossan, although I haven't played his route yet. Although I'm assuming his route either isn't romantic or some timetravel bullshit happens and he meets the heroine back in her world as a chipper young ikemen. The heroine is a qt and so are the female subcharacters (which always scores more points than it really should with me). The art is great, the voice actors, the music, etc. etc. as you'd expect from a large company.

As for the plot, well... After playing a lot of otome I've come to learn not to hold the quality of the plots to the same standard I would other types of media unless I want to be consistently disappointed. I feel like there are 3 "categories" of otome games: pure fun romance ones (often set in school), actual plot-focused games that really just happen to be otome, and ones that do bother to write a serious plot, but the most you can hope is that it isn't retarded enough to distract from enjoying the heroes. None of the story happenings that I've witnessed have made me want to blow my brains out, but I also am sure as hell only playing the routes of the characters that I'm interested in, it's just extremely mediocre. Basically everything about it is Otomate in a nutshell now that think about it.

I'm still planning on playing 3 more routes so I'm not finished with it yet.

Just a note in the guy in my screenshot, for me personally his route was the least favorite of the 3 I've played (others being Akatsuki and Shuuya). Mainly a subjective thing, it just was focused on a trope that I don't like, which was having a past wife/lover that died or they're otherwise caught up on, the protag wondering if she can ever replace her, so forth. Not necessarily in a "my 30+ year old husbando isn't an untouched flower? NTR!" way, but I've just always felt it was utilized poorly and a cheap way to add drama every time I've seen it. And to be honest I just never got the sense that he actually loved the protagonist in a romantic kind of way, I kept wondering how the protag would have him look at her as more than just a little sister type thing, but then it just sort of got resolved in the last 1 minute by the protag forcibly kissing him. Definitely wasn't the worst route I've ever played or anything.
(I also find it kind of funny to think if a writer did that in an eroge/galge that wasn't specifically NTR/cheating based and the reaction from the readers it could have. Well, there's not usually heroines older than their early 20s.)

Coincidentally that's the game I finished before starting this one. It was such an unfortunate piece. I liked the art even though it shows its age, the voice acting was great, the characters are good, and actually the plot was as a whole quite nice and enjoyable (excluding a couple characters). I finally beat Zain and Radius' routes.
Honestly, I don't know what to say about Zain's route, it was a wild ride. I expected a computer program learning about emotions and love, not him fusing with the PK, going batshit crazy and his interface numbers bugging out. I feel like it was best that I did Demento's route before Zain's. It took me a few lines but I was shocked when I first saw his real world sprite.

On the other hand, Raidus' route was good. Kazuha got major points from me when she started calling out Poyo-poyo on who he is and when she said she should believe in herself. I started getting worried at the end there wouldn't be any Astrum bullying, but no, I wasn't let down.

I'll probably finish Hiroya and Poyo-poyo's routes tomorrow.

It seems pretty good, though I'm an EOP so I can't say if they're twisting things in the translation too much. So far only one scene seemed like a slightly awkward translation and I've come across like four mistakes that aren't really anything. Pic related is the "worst" offender that I've seen.
