Perhaps it should be mentioned that we are looking for a few more streams, particularly ones that have something happening at night as the stations are too dark to see anything.

For example, something like:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_9pavMzUY-c

General guidelines are:
> Must be from Japan, interesting, minimum 480p, constant stream (none of those 2-frame-per-second streams), with ambient sound preferred.

This entire week is a holiday, right? That mean we won't be able to see some qts in uniforms at the crossroads if they are taking that camera down soon.

Also, I'm surprised Japan still his timer junctions. Even my backwards country changed over to those pressure sensors in the road years ago.
>>

Na, I moved the other direction. In Miyagi prefecture now, Higashimatsushima.
>>
>>16945308
Monday and Tuesday are normal days, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday are holidays.
Some schools will still have club activities on Golden Week, so there could be still be some qts in uniforms.

Japan does have sensor type junctions as well, overhead instead of under the road, but because they haven't really phased in roundabouts yet timed junctions make a lot of sense when you have so many traffic lights around because they can be timed in a sequence to move traffic.

Hello there
>>
>>16938373
Aww, it's gone. It's a pity nobody saw the parade, have to remember about it for next year.

It was an interesting camera though. It showed me that Asian drivers really are as dangerous as their stereotype suggests. In the few short days the camera was live I saw multiple lorries blasting through the junction just as the lights were turning red, vans cutting corners and actually driving on the wrong side of the road, multiple cars speeding through the 7-11 carpark to bypass the junction and even a guy on a moped ramp up onto the path and drive along the path and pedestrian crossing in order to avoid the lights. Crazy. If the police set up a camera there, they would make thousands in fines.
>>
>>16947773
Why is it gone? Is it going to come back?
>>
>>16947783
It seems to have been set up specifically to show an annual samurai-style parade that happens on the first day of golden week. I hope it will come back for next year's parade.
>>
>>16947773
That's honestly pretty normal for Japanese traffic outside of Tokyo and it's better than you'd think. There's an order to it. Most vehicles also blow the red when turning right, that's standard. Sometimes there's a pad in the middle of the road for people turning right to sit inside.
>>
>>16946373
Now we're talking.
>>
>>16947867
The two things Japanese people are really bad at when it comes to driving is stopping for red lights and speed.

Pretty much every day I see cars going through intersections after their light has already turned red, and I am not including the ones who were waiting inside the intersection to turn, only ones that cross the line after it has turned red.

I have been told by Japanese people that 10km/h over the limit is fine, 15km/h is usually okay, 20km/h is pushing your luck. From personal experience if you are driving on a semi busy two lane road at 10km/h over the limit and no way to pass then you will form a queue behind you, and it isn't uncommon to be overtaken for just doing 15km/h over the limit (even on a two lane road posted as no overtaking).

Part of it is probably because you just don't see that many police cars out patrolling. And if they are they have to have their lights flashing anyway so you spot them a mile away.
>>
>>16947925
I've done 140km/h on the highways and had the police casually cruise past me, as did other traffic. Speed limits in Japan are only a suggestion.
>>
>>16947932
Except when they decide to enforce it, and they sometimes do.
>>
>>16947932
>>16947925
>>16947867

Of course they do. Families, groups of co-works, old people. Taking a bath is more of an Asian thing than European one.

who?
>>
>>16994022
Yes, but you often hear about all the resorts that close down after the bubble and how bath houses are closing down because people prefer to bathe in the privacy of their own homes. Then you have more modern competition, like theme parks that are closer to where people live, and cheap jet travel allows you to go to Hawaii for the weekend.

On the other hand, onsens have maids!
>>
>>16998615
Don't confuse bath houses with onsen. Bath houses usually are just normal heated water anyway.

I can't speak for any other companies, but I can for JR. Punctuality is key. Your job, quite literally, depends on it.

There are some JR routes with five second tolerances per stop. They're not a suggestion or a best case scenario. They're a requirement. Every single day, every time you make a stop. They'll tolerate, at most, around two screwups in a six month period. Then you're done. You're also done if someone even suspects you're going to screw up.

I can also assure you the rest of your working life there will be as hostile as the adherence to safety and timetables. Don't miss a signal announcement (they have cameras in cab, they know the exact moment you do), a timetable, a safety sign, a driver inspection, your scheduled break and lunch times, your driver changeover time, company holiday outings, or overtime.

Thanks for the webms.

Took a while to research (when I should have just went on the main website).

Hopefully someone with fluent Japanese can fully translate.

http://www.aizutetsudo.jp/trip/ozatoro/

Its an event train 会津浪漫号 and runs mainly on the weekends (schedule in the link above).

https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E4%BC%9A%E6%B4%A5%E6%B5%AA%E6%BC%AB%E5%8F%B7

Judging on the curve at the top front of the train its probably the AT-400 series (AT-401).

https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E4%BC%9A%E6%B4%A5%E9%89%84%E9%81%93AT-400%E5%BD%A2%E6%B0%97%E5%8B%95%E8%BB%8A

The cat logos running along the 2nd carriage of the train and at the back is apparently Love (らぶ? Rabu) the cat station master of the next train station Ashinomaki-Onsen Station 芦ノ牧温泉駅.

I record them the hard way.
This camera is tricky because opening the stream on vlc you'll often get the gray screen glitches. So I just record the whole screen using OBS and then crop using a video editing program. Although you could probably set up OBS to record only the webcam area.
Then I convert to webm with XMedia Recode

What school could they possibly attend?

I thought this was a station for the local onsen tourist area. Bit strange for there to be a school nearby. Or is it just me?

From their non-uniform backpacks they look high schoolers rather than junior high, so my bet would be a high school in Aizu-wakamatsu.

It's amazing how easy you can spot a foreigner.
Even if he wasn't slightly overweight, there's something that just makes him stand out completely. Maybe the clothes, but most probably the sunglasses.
Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever seen Japanese people walking around with sunglasses unless they were celebrities.
>>
Now this is an interesing webm.
I've noticed something on several occasions. You can see it on some of the already posted webms, such as >>17093844 that they actually have to press a button on the outside for the doors to open. I don't know if this is new to me only, but it's a weird thing.
On this webm you can see that one of the old ladies on the bottom tell the other to press it. And for the gaijins on the top, the conductor himself reaches out and presses it.

Some trains have it, some don't.
It seems to be most common on lines where some stops won't have people getting on/off and/or lines which have start and end points in (so not circle lines) so when the train is sitting around waiting to go back down the line people can close the doors after they enter the train (especially in the winter months).

>I don't think I've ever seen Japanese people walking around with sunglasses unless they were celebrities.

Because they don't need them. I think Asian eyelids have evolved specifically to shade their eyes from the glare of the sun, which is why most won't need sunglasses like whitey does. Celebrities may be different because they probably got that eyelid surgery that removes their squint.

I'm just lucky I guess.
I probably could catch more, like the schoolgirls more often, but I'm not always at my computer by the time the 6h47 train stops by. But tuning in the webcams 3 or 4 minutes before the scheduled train always works.

I wanted to make a time lapse but I don't think it's going to work. Which is a shame, it would look beautiful.

It's a shame you missed on the Aizu Wakamatsu station camera. It was worth leaving on the background or a second monitor all day long. You can find some videos on youtube about it. These ones are nice too.
This one http://live.ueda.ne.jp/bessyo.html is worth leaving on. The background sound of birds along with traffic is great.
