people i follow on pixiv keep getting picked to illustrate shit like this and 不老少女と魔法教授 and 賢者の弟子を名乗る賢者

i can't devote the time i would need to read them though, which I guess is ok because LN reading a LN because it has cute illustration is a recipe for failure (moreso than normal)

100 pages in and nothing really interesting has happened so far. The main character already being the strongest from the start basically means there will never be any tension though.

The writing feels weird...I think mostly due to dialogue using a ton of "modern" words that just don't feel like they belong in a fantasy story ( トラブル, 洋服...)

The illustrations are very cute though

I just finished vol 5 of Sukasuka this morning

I didn't really like Willem coming back at the end, because "jk they didn't really die" is such a tired anime trope that has ruined the end of so many series for me, but in this case I also thought it was kind of thematically appropriate that he was (I'm assuming) able to make peace with the beast inside of him so that they could both return to a place that they belonged, I guess. What did you guys think of the ending? Still cried like a bitch though to be honest.

Gonna order the #EX volume and then move on to the sequel I guess

Since the manga adaptation started I started reading the Blacksmith Ruin WN and it's really amateur. The author is all over the place and lost the plot completely. Plot threads just left hanging, characters that disappear etc.

I took a brief look at the raw LN and saw that the author did some editing, maybe he tightened the story up, but I'm pretty skeptical.

You don't know anon? It mainly refers to this nest of pure evil syosetu.com where people from various backgrounds with severe depression and suicidal thoughts gather. Some just want to see the world burn, some just want to beat the shit out of that wife who cheated on them while they were wageslaving, some just want to drown in sloth and they dream of an ideal world where that sloth can be accepted or counted as something normal by the society.

The stories written by these fanatical individuals with extreme self-abandonment, suffering and despair seem to trigger a certain ritual after suicide and they get reincarnated or transported into their own novels. However, they must acquire a certain number of points which acts as a catalyst for the mentioned ritual otherwise they'd die in vain. There are also rumors that depending on the number of points and ranking of your novel, the similarity between the world beyond and your written work rises immensely. For this reason alone, they strive to become popular, climb the rankings, publish their masterpieces, their ideal worlds, their final destinations.
>>
>>16962540

>>16962927
On 2ch there was a shitstorm(Like always) about point manipulation and somebody suspected him as well saying it had the same pattern as that other entry.

Does anyone have experience buying books from Mandarake?

Everything I've bought from Mandarake before has been practically brand new but I'm worried about books since they're easier to damage than figures and the like.
>>
>>16950871
Honto in my experience is not any better than amazon. I haven't ordered from them in three years but they just wrapped my books in a bunch of packing paper and shipped them as is, not even wrapping them down with plastic like amazon does. I haven't ordered from Kinokuniya in a long ass time, since 2012, but the books were wrapped tightly in bubble wrap and neatly parceled up with packing paper in a box. It's not really worth their prices though... I remember when they had their old site and you ordered from specific store locations, my books would just come in paper mailing envelopes, lol (they would wrap everything up together in plastic though).

Should've followed it as it came out, it's a much better experience. You appreciate each chapter a lot more when it's all you have and you have to wait desperately for a month until the next one, and it gives you a chance to have fun speculating about what'll happen.

>>16924040
The ending of volume 2 was one of the saddest things ever, poor Ringo poor Rakushu.

>>16936560
I can see why you didn't like the ending, but I think it is more thematically appropriate then having him just disappear. It's about the delivery more then the events, those shitty "haha I live" anime are shit more because of the bad writing, and likewise Sukasuka is great because of how what happens is really well portrayed so the reader can understand and appreciate it.

>>
>>16982490
Kindlegen can't send to Japanese amazon accounts last time I tried.
>>
>>16982574
I'm not sure what you're referring to. You use kindlegen to convert the epub to a mobi, then either email the mobi to your Kindle email address or use Calibre to transfer via USB.
>>
>>16982606
Oh that's what you mean. The conversation process doesn't add the dictionary feature, the only way to add it is by sending per mail (calibre/USB doesn't work here) because of some weird process where the file downloads something from the amazon servers. And well, the mail doesn't arrive with any method I tried.
I guess it could technically work if someone else send the mobi files to their Kindle and then uploaded that resulting mobi file so I could transfer it with USB. I'm not gonna expect anyone to do that much work for me though, heh.

Here are the files already converted to mobi with proper formatting to save other people the time though:

Is a premium membership on J novel club worth it? There's a few titles I'm interested in and I want them in epub but i don't know if it's worth almost double the regular membership.

If you want to buy the premium epubs from them the price difference between standard and premium is about 9 books but the premium subscription comes with 12 books and if you want to buy more it becomes a dollar cheaper.

If you don't care much about the bonus content or having a membership at all it's probably easier to just buy the books off the Kindle store.

I'm reading the angst that is just this series and the sob story that is just mc essentially being a cucked by her own sibling. Typically, I don't like time-loops (or time travel) due to lack of consequence. When there's a certain theme beyond it, I might have some interest, like this series and finding happiness. But I see no happiness beyond the loops. I mean seriously, you refuse to abort your baby or run off with a man that is obviously in love with you and give you happiness far beyond what you have now. Much drama within such a this series and self-awareness. It's enough to keep my attention, but it's rather tedious to read at times due to the drama of trying to have happiness, yet fail to grasp it when there's a chance.
>>
>>17106976
I usually like these kinds of stories of OP mcs as long as there's a theme beyond it.

>>17117573
They look identical except the one on the left uses words that are easier to understand for people who read light novels.
>>
>>17118700
If that were true the left would actually be a translation more to the spirit of light novels, but it is just a trainwreck of someone that is a) a terrible writer, b) not a native speaker of English, or c) both.

Now you do have me thinking of how a Simple English translation of a ln would fare.

People who read LNs in English have no standards, it's nothing new. Anyone who actually cares about them learns Japanese.
>>
>>17141927
And then no one who knows Japanese ever looks at any of the translations to criticize them because it's just too much of a bother. I certainly can't be arsed. So the only people you've got even seeing these translations most of the time are a bunch of people who really couldn't tell if a translation was a total rewrite, many of whom wouldn't care even if it was, and the people who translated it or support the translator without question because he's part of their clique.

I feel bad for the ninja that's teaching her ninja tricks, he knows everything but batman doesn't even want to bother listening.

redpill me on getting paid-for digital LNs onto my kindle paperwhite. do I have to switch accounts everytime I want to read something Japanese?

Nope. You can also remove DRM within seconds (assuming you were talking about amazon here)

I'm intrigued. Can you tell me more or direct me somewhere that does?

Kind of in the same process as anon you replied to, but a bit further on. I'm trying to change my country settings on my US Amazon account (I have a proxy address already) but the format for entering addresses remains in the US/Canadian way even if you change the country to Japan. If I enter the Japanese address anyway in the closest corresponding boxes (it inevitably overlaps-- I end up listing both Tokyo-to and Tokyo just as a city) and it gives me an error message. Any idea what the issue is here?

You need to create a new account on amazon.co.jp (make sure to use a different email address from your US account or you won't be able to log into it from your Kindle).

Would be great if you shared the books with us after stripping the DRM. You can upload them to a site like mega.nz.
