M3 this April 30th Sunday. Anyone going? What music are you looking forward to download?
>>
http://www.doujinstyle.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=16874

Previews are up for those interested.

Most interesting album for me is probably going to be pic related. Though if it's anything like the last Harito/sin:ck CD they'll probably sell out before anyone gets one.

https://soundcloud.com/harito/m3-i-05bnilcanote-crossfade

On the bright side they might be putting up their Mary album for sale on bandcamp eventually.
>>
Right now I'm just a little worried about my package not arriving yet. Bought some doujin music online six weeks ago and it still isn't here. Thankfully two of the three albums are still available, but I can't go rebuying them and wasting money I don't have....
>>
>>16920460
Didn't they give you a tracking number? It should say where the package got stuck (if it got updated, that is).
>>
>>16920536
Didn't bother getting a tracking number since if I'm remembering right, international tracking isn't available in my country. So when you feed the number in it just tells you that and nothing else. Maybe I should have gotten one anyway. I just hope it doesn't turn into one of those situations where it arrives 6+ months after being sent as I'm moving soon, and the person I'm currently staying with never checks the mail.
>>
>that fucking Lapix vs Massive New Krew album

https://soundcloud.com/massive-new-krew/psystyle-nation

Jesus christ, M3 needs to come sooner.

On an unrelated to M3 note, does anyone have a rip of Technomy - MONOSTREAMS? Came out of C82, every ddl link is dead and the torrents on nyaa are also stuck with 0 seeds.
>>
i have outdone myself this event... i have 120+ albums on order. i am not as bad as the korean guy yet tho

the two albums i am looking forward to the most is Kirara Records - Fade to Twilight & Binzokomegane Girls Union - スターゲイザー feat. YUC'e

this is looking like a pretty good M3
>>
I don't like looking at the preview thread because I enjoy a bunch of albums but don't note them, then find that only a small portion get uploaded anyway.
>>
>>16924635
>>16924575

It's even harder to get m3 released because there isn't that much foreigners going to minor events.
>>
>>16924643
And it's been especially bad the past few events, due to the random various uploader drama.
GAT Unit 01 fucking never.

>>16924570
sankyu. The album's got a great chill/ambiance/atmospheric sound like I was hoping it would.
Really wish Atomic would do another album like this/NOSTAL FACT.
>>
>>16924643
Tell me about it, doesn't help either there is no place that archives this stuff either and most circles seem to struggle with making their stuff available for online order.

>>16924543
>i have 120+ albums on order.
You madman, how do you manage to listen to them all?
>>
>>16924677

not that hard when you listen to music several hours everyday
>>
>>16920460
>>16920460 here
Now I'm a little more concerned. A different package I ordered through them on the 11th this month, sent via the same shipping method, got here today but still no sign of the March package yet. Guess I'll have to contact them. Shit dudes, this sucks.
>>
i have a feeling a circle i like is waiting until like 24 hours before the event starts to bring anything up on twitter and/or website. fucking assholes.
>>
>>16927531
Most of announcement are falling, on twitter, between 9PM and 2AM (japenese hours). It's useless to wait 24 hours. Japenese circles always give their news at the same time (of course can have some exception). I'm just telling you, if you don't know about that.
>>
>>16928648
maybe one of us is misunderstanding the other, but if you look at the preview thread on ds, you'll see that some circles started posting new album announcements since the start of the month. i'd say a good chunk of circles who didn't say anything earlier have been posting their announcements this past week as m3 is currently only 2 days away japan local time. some circles are really secretive, probably because of "exclusivity" and don't say jack shit until there is 24 hours or less until the event starts. i'm not complaining about what time of the day they post their announcements, just a little ticked off that some wait until the last minute to do so. this is really inconvenient for gaijin like me who buy albums through a proxy as i have no idea what to ask them to pick up for me until the day of, and the cutoff dates for these proxies is usually a few days before the event.
>>
Just put in an order for 7 albums.

Can't wait for Phant Solo.
>>
Well, I don't really care about looking like a fag anymore. I've fallen for the sticker meme. I'd love to get some custom stickers related to doujin music sometime, probably when I get a new laptop down the road. So far I've thought about getting stickers of my favorite artists' logos, but some of them don't have logos. What would you guys recommend? Do you think printing off small versions of cover art would look okay?
>>
>>16936118

only lossy->lossy transcoding is bad. If you save an image as a jpeg with 60% quality, then load that image and save it as a jpeg again with 60% quality, what happens? The artefacts compound. Those awkward areas around high contrasts become more awkward. That's what you're doing with the audio. That's why foobar does pic related when you try it.

The Masamune album was unfinished - there will be more tracks to download later via the artist's twitter or something. I'll put what was on the disk up soon. There will be a note inside the folder that most people won't even read explaining the missing tracks. I'll amend the rip on the server when they're available.

Oh discussing the releases, I like ur thinking.

So many good trance albums so far I couldn't rank them if I tried. maybe after a week of listening I'll have some clear favourites.

I bought the kagutyo thing because I heard a sample of kaleidoscope and presumed that track would be representative. Ooops.

EarthPieces is a similar story in being an album I bought for 1 track. I love: SORANA – The Glacier. I'm a big fan of liquid DnB which is relatively rare in this scene, so I always appreciate when it comes along, especially when there's some good sub-bass as part of the key melody.
>>
>>16955222
the problem is transcodes, not opus itself
and the fact that mp3 still is the most supported
and then you have ignorant people that associate opus with transcodes for some reason

That might not happen anymore, we'll see. Got vk on board. At least the 48k thing makes it obvious.
>>
>>16955222
>what the fuck is wrong with you
My problem is that I listen to music very often on my phone, and opus simply isn't supported for the player that works best for me, causing a lot more headache than is reasonable if only opus is available.
Also opus is just stupid, it doesn't sound any different from mp3 to me, it should just be flac and mp3.
>>
>>16955807
thats great

No more troubling over transcodes. Just purity.

I like how at least in this aspect the uploading community came together in less than a day and agreed on terms. No one biting the hand that feeds them.
>>
>>16955819
You could use a different app to play music [I use VLC on android. This isn't an endorsement, I haven't tried and tested a bunch of different ones or anything.]

I get it, change sucks, maybe making a request with the developer could work, too. Which app is it? I'll do it.
>>
>>16955819
if you are going to use your phone, you are just going to have to bite the bullet and make your own encodes.

The quality sound that we benefit from coming out of our sub-woofers and amps and speakers outweighs the convenience of artifact ridden MP3 transcodes being the norm.
>>
>>16955854
>Which app is it?
I've always used Blackplayer but I haven't checked if opus works in a while so it may actually be supported now, I haven't checked at all recently.

Also don't worry about it, I (personally, also because of shit headphones) can't tell much of a difference as I mentioned. What are the benefits of opus and why did people start using it anyways?

>>16955871
>MP3 transcodes being the norm.
Where did I say having opus is a problem? I was just saying that flac and mp3 makes more sense to me from a quality standpoint, I was in no way saying everyone should just start only making mp3s and no opus/flac ever.
>>
>>16955880
Also I forgot to mention, but I'm not exactly like some of the other people here, I'm not looking for extreme quality, I'm just looking for music I like. I don't have a fancy setup or anything, so mp3 works great for me.
I'm not saying I'm fine with anything though, I do have standards, it's just that 320kbps mp3s are all I need
>>
>>16955880
>and opus simply isn't supported for the player that works best for me
>it should just be flac and mp3

I totally understand you from the stand point of using your phone to listen to music predominantly.

I also listen using my phone (more than I would like to), but thats just how it is.

Keeping a separate database of all the music you want in MP3 (or any phone friendly format) from your main music database consisting mostly of FLAC/VORBIS/ETC is gonna be a solid alternative.

This way you can encode your own MP3s in CBR/VBR, 320, V1, etc to fit your desired needs for phone listening. May it be 320 CBR for maximum quality or a grouping of V1, V2 for maximum space.
>>
>>16955880
>What are the benefits of opus and why did people start using it anyways?
it's newer and has better compression (same audible quality at smaller file size). but realistically it's completely fucking negligible and the people pushing it are just hipster faggots. it only serves to complicate things. who gives a shit about file size anymore?

that said, v1 is pretty good quality -- certainly enough for me -- so thanks for that. i don't feel like dealing with opus when i want to mess with tracks in audio/video editing software or put them on my phone.
>>
>>16956201
>it's newer and has better compression
Thanks for the concise explanation rather than telling me to lurk more or calling me a faggot like I'm used to.
>>
>>16956228
if you want more details, it is better quality at high compression rate but almost the same at 320kbps with mp3

On the topic of things shutting down, you can find backups of my opus rips on perfect dark! (C91 stuff is all there, M3-39 stuff will take a few days more to upload, probably.)

Not that I'd propose this as a solution to the Nyaa closure, both uploading and downloading is really slow.
>>
>>16962363
would you like some fries with that salt?
>>
forgive me being a newfag
Why is it that M3 seems to be a lot slower in terms of uploads as compared to other events? Is it just considerably smaller or is there some other reason?
>>
>>16963782
More people travel for Comiket. No one's going to visit Japan to go to M3.

By the end of next week, there will be a lot more uploads as shipments start arriving.
>>
>>16963782
Along with what the other anon said, yes, it's much smaller. Another thing to take into consideration is that the public upload scene is much smaller than it was years ago.
>>
>>16964072
>>16963871
Thanks for the helpful answers. I was slightly worried there would be a lot of albums that would never ever be uploaded.
>>
>>16961404
I hope, I wish. I'd fucking flash tits to be in the same place as most of these artists. Maybe chop them.
>>
>>16963871
If I was going to travel for an event it would probably be Spring M3, since there are also a ton of other events around it and they usually have more interesting circles.
Comiket is fine, just doesn't have as much interesting music circles at it, especially for electronic stuff.
>>
>>16963782
I'll be posting the ~40 albums I bought publicly, but I'm not gonna get them for at least another month, and I think it's mostly the same for a lot of other people.
Like the other anon said, the upload scene has really slowed down, there really isn't many people here that actually go to the events and rip stuff, most of the rippers order stuff through shops or proxies and have to wait for them to be shipped, so right after the event is pretty dead and stuff starts getting posted in the weeks following.
>>
>>16964072
>>16964282
There used to be plenty of Japanese rippers who'd post stuff on P2P back-in-the-day too. Now it really does feel like the ripping scene is entirely us dirty foreigners, plenty of which have retreated to private trackers and point-based forums [since these systems incentivise buyfagging, I'm not against them. For-profit sites can go straight to hell though.]

Since the private forums and private trackers have been a factor for years and years, so they're not a new factor, what might seem as major changes to "the scene" are probably in reality just changes in behaviour for a handful of individuals.

-

I don't feel like we were ever at a point where everything would be out instantly. A degree of waiting was always involved. Especially thinking to when doujincore was a thing, he'd post stuff gradually over weeks. Other music-blog style rippers like zoiq and suion were like that too. Your perception of this probably depends on which circles you like, but stuff has always fallen through the cracks.

If you've already gotten board of the available M3 rips, audio4u has been actively updating his batch torrents / mega folders recently, take a look.
http://audioforyou.anisource.net
>>
>>16964526
I wouldn't really say it was "plenty" of Japanese rippers, it was mostly one guy on PD (and before that Share, though there were a few more rippers in the Share era), he posted hundreds of albums every event, all in tta+cue, which is why the majority of older touhou/doujin music is in that format.
I also don't think he was even Japanese, his name on PD was "Taiwanese Devil" I think.
This person stopped ripping a few years ago (around 2013 I think), that was a major hit to the public uploading scene, since then it has just been declining even further.
Sites like ASTOST are still going strong, I'd guess they're still getting at least 500 rips every event.
Private trackers are mostly irrelevant for doujin stuff, besides maybe sows which usually gets a few self-rips every event.
>>
>>16964568
can't remember his name for the life of me (it was a translation of 'Taiwan Devil' or something similar as you suggest), but he was absolute lore in the Chinese ripping scene, had his own baidu article and shit

As far as PD is concerned there's a bunch of HASHEASY / ANTIEASY from forever ago in my download log. Is that who you were thinking of?

Hakkin was mirroring stuff to PD more recently, up until C87ish as 白金の波.

Speaking of TW, what happened with 2djgame? I remember they used to have a lot of rips posted publicly, did the place go private or just stop caring?

Doujinstyle's discord is fairly active, there's usually at least 100 people online, though a lot of them just idle, still pretty active though.
They do group discussions for every event ~1 month after it's over to discuss what releases people thought were good.

It's a CBR setting. There's a 255kbps, 251 kbps, 256 kbps, 258kbps, 260kbps and two 259 kbps tracks.

Properties tab lists it as being v0 but it's definitely not running as a vbr encode.

Even if it were a proper v0 encode it'd be a bad fucking joke. v0 on trap/house/electronic in general is a pretty bad idea since it can garble snippets of a song due to frequency change.
Even 320 isn't entirely ideal since it can also occasionally cutoff in some songs, but it tends to be more consistent than v0.

Your Android device can play Opus natively if it's version 5.0 (Lollipop) or newer, so you should be able to play them with any music player. Otherwise, find a music app that can like Poweramp.

Like MP3, you can use Opus at different bitrates. 220k seems to be the bitrate the leme.me rips are encoded at. They should be indistinguishable from listening to an actual CD.

>>
>>17016104

These were all albums from private trackers and private forums leaked by 9tensu/VK lol
>>
>>17016461

Good.

The point of a private tracker is supposed to be archival and a "safe" place to release content so it can be shared and reuploaded wherever else. It's not supposed to be some exclusivity circle jerk.

Kind of surprised it's mostly staying to vk and not being re-uploaded and shared anywhere else, though.
>>
>>17016483

That is not completely true. Some private trackers don't allow re-uploading without permission. Others don't really care.

Stuff is being reuploaded from VK, just give it some time for people to put in the effort to do so.
>>
>>17016506
I'm not really talking about what it's degenerated into today, more talking about how/why private trackers became a thing to begin with - which was almost purely safe archival and to host the increasingly niche without broadcasting your IP on a public tracker.
With decentralization available via a multitude of file hosting the later isn't really a problem anymore, so as long as things get rehosted prior to sharing the only thing preventing the spread of things is autism.

And yeah, some stuff is migrating slowly. And to be fair I could've rehosted and relinked elsewhere myself(and I already had for private use among friends since vk downloads are shit), but I'm both too lazy and can't really care to "contribute" when the source isn't actually me.

Back to the actual music discussion though;
I think the only albums I can think of that I'm still waiting on that haven't been (publicly) released is HiTECH NINJA and From 2 Planets.
Also, PsyStyle Nation seems like it's definitely album of the event for me. Haven't gotten all the way through Back to the Roots yet but it's also pretty strong so far.
>>
>>17016742

Safe archiving is fine. The main reason why a lot of people don't upload anymore in this particular doujin music scene I'm sure is because of websites like 9tensu that ad.fly for their own benefit. Those motherfuckers need to be DDOS'd. Over the years a lot of circles have also made their albums available overseas and some digitally which probably contributes to people not uploading.

Just so you know HiTECH NINJA is not an actual album but rather a HiTECH sound sample pack released on CD. It is meant for production and is not an actual music album.

The album From 2 Planets has been released before back in 2015 but it was a special limited edition release. This event's release is the normal edition sold via online stores. You should be able to find the old release somewhere on the internet but the new release should be ripped soon enough anyway.

PsyStyle Nation sounds pretty shit to me (Don't like lapix's style of sound at all and MNK in recent times) and I haven't heard it yet so no comment.

Back to the Roots I am looking forward to. The quality from the crossfade is pretty good for some songs and not as well for others. For the most part though. this is what Hardstyle should be and not that generic mainstream crap that we have today. Massive CircleZ has gone to shit for a lot of their more recent albums which pisses me off so I am happy to see a decent release this time. Of course that is all just my opinion.
>>
>>17016742
>From 2 Planets

>Just so you know HiTECH NINJA is not an actual album but rather a HiTECH sound sample pack released on CD. It is meant for production and is not an actual music album.

Oh, damn. Well that's good to know, I guess.

And I dunno, I've liked most of lapix's recent stuff/direction(core signal was probably best c91 album for me), and I've been an MNK fan since Massive New Fxxkin' Krew, back when hardstyle was a lot more common(Powerlessness was some serious shit), and I've kept with them since they're the ones that didn't revert wholly back to hardcore/gabba. I will agree that their recent albums(barring just released) were kind of really hit/miss, ABSOLUTE and Break out Black were great but the others were median tier.
Either way, PsyStyle Nation just works really well for me. It has a large emphasis on atmospheric/the "get lost in the music" type of songs, which is really a strong point of both lapix and MNK when at their best.

Also Back to the Roots was pretty good. The RoughSketch track was kind of disappointing, but I think that's because he seems? to have given up on the DJ Laugh name for his UK hardcore stuff and just does it all on RoughSketch now instead, and it's been tainting pretty much everything he's done recently.

And I agree on 9tensu, that shit is cancer. But it's honestly just a thing that you can't really prevent, outside of building an open competitor that works better without the "for profit" attitude. And trying to close the scene and circlejerk in exclusivity won't actually improve anything, and will just lead to a decline in the long run.
dojin.co had a decent thing going for a while until the owner started going full retard, disallowing FLAC and the shit he tried pulling last m3. It still works as a repository but I don't think anyone can stand to take it seriously anymore. And meanwhile, I just miss when it used to be vermillion grey.

I will definitely disagree on ABSOLUTE & Break Out Black. ABSOLUTE is mostly generic dubcore shit just like most albums these days, nothing special at all. Break Out Black is very underwhelming compared to USAO's Break Out White which I would probably consider the last best Hardstyle album released in the doujin scene.

The doujin scene has been in a decline for a while now. There used to be a LOT more public uploads and uploads in general. Its a little frightening how slow uploads are nowadays (used to be much faster such as 1st day FLAC leak HARDCORE TANO*C, etc.) and how scarce FLAC is uploaded in recent times.

Circlez 6 is my favorite since Circlez 2, and I thought Alterna was great, especially their track with Noizenecio.

I like USAO's track on Back to the Roots, and "Back Again" is pretty awesome too, otherwise the album is a bit underwhelming. PsyStyle nation was pretty boring on my first listen through, but it's quickly becoming my favorite release as well after more listens.

Alchemic Seven has been my sleeper hit of the event so far, lots of really fun tracks on it.

>>17017235
Agreed on break out white. I'm a big fan of pretty much all of USAO's work, Shandy and Nanashi included, Kick's 4 and Break out white being my favorite works by him. ShandyBass 3 has a super western feel to it, especially since all of the vocals are in english, but it's growing on me too.

Fugene, Irregular Nation 3, and Yabaicore have some alright tracks on them but they're nothing special.

108 Sketches 5 is good, I haven't listened to it enough to get a real opinion of it yet but B.A.D. is probably my favorite track so far.

So I bought a vinyl record even though I don't really know anything about them. Since it's limited edition I would like to make a digital backup of it. Do any of you know how I would make an accurate rip of it? What equipment and software would I use? I've seen Audacity been mentioned a lot; would I have to make absurd changes to the settings like you would with EAC to get an accurate rip?
>>
>>17020512
>accurate rip
This is basically completely subjective in the vinyl world. Some people will tell you that you can get a fine rip with inexpensive equipment, some will tell you you need a $2000 needle with a vintage turntable and a professional audio capture setup.

Basically you'll just have to do research yourself and figure out what is acceptable quality for you. Anybody you ask for help is just going to give their opinions, it won't necessarily mean what they think is acceptable is also acceptable for you.
>>
>>17020512
Minimum requirment for a turntable is that the arm is manual otherwise it will scratch and ruin your precious vinyl. You should also invest in decent pre amp as internal ones are junk, decent ADC is also good to have if you intend to make digital rips. Good quality needle is also a must, but I guess as if you have only 1 vinyl just do whatever you want.

This is decent guide to what turntables to avoid

Has anyone been able to get the new Eternal Melody album, Infinity Red? I tried to buy it from Japanese DLSite, but it wouldn't take my American credit card.

It's not on English DLSite and neither is their last disc. I wonder if they've stopped releasing them in English because they always get pirated.
>>
>>17037389
This is a common issue for JP DLsite. Did you make a JP DLsite account? If you haven't, JP and EN accounts are separate so you'll have to make one. Then you can use it to buy with your credit card.

I know mine works because I've been buying H audio with my foreign credit card.
>>
>>17037460
I didn't bother making an account, I just went right to the shopping cart. But the problem was with the payment processing site.
>>
>>17037660
That can be solved if you make a jp account. People at /h/ and in the previous M3/RTS had the same problems
>>
>>17038031
I'm trying to make an account, but I get this error message above the full name field.

半角英数字以外は入力できません(特殊文字の一部を除く

Google says this means "you can only enter half-width alphanumeric characters." In my understanding, that's normal single-byte ascii. But it won't accept any string of letters or numbers as a full name. I tried using the fullwidth <> halfwidth converters too but it didn't work.

it's musicbee. One of the better media players I used so far and the only one other than foobar that didn't shit itself over my enormous library. Nothing much to set up aside from panel layout either. It does have some bad points but give it a try.

Vibrant Dancefloor is on the border of passable for me. Probably just not your type of music, anon, definitely not mine.
Although Sasi can't hit notes for shit.
>>
>>17049907
Maybe it's the vocals, yeah. I found the instrumentals forgettable but not unbearable.
>>
>>17046624
>>17049907
Babbe's recent stuff has been mostly mediocre, but Promised Dancefloor was really good. That one was on the "Frozen Starfall" label.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LxZifxfnYQQ

I think Devised and Blossoming Dancefloor are his best albums. Journey to the Unknown is good too. But if you don't like that type of music then so be it. Also to be fair, Minoshima's work has been par at best for a while now.

Okay, it was my bad here. I downloaded 2 extra albums (holy fucking shit, Yaoshanbailing and Nhato, gold) after somehow missing your link song in the album I had already acquired, and I actually enjoyed it now. Maybe it had to do with me listening to them drunk.

I guess Sasi was the mistake. This is fun https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a5CkT2inJms It's definitely catchy and Alstro v2 (I've been a fag for them for almost a decade, fuck me right).

Like the other guy said its the .cue file being shit, not Foobar's fault. You can try to fix it so you can atleast convert to split tracks by editing in notepad and fixing the mojibake and quotation marks as they should be.

Just plugging 小熏's app 'Unicue', automatically parses mojibake'd logs, works with both Chink and Jap logs

https://github.com/kuyur/unicue

Change to English skin by going to the settings dialogue
>>
>>17052468
>>17052662
Or just open it in Notepad++ and change the encoding to UTF-8.
>>
>>17052924
I'd vouch a good 80% of the time this doesn't work.
>>
>>17053950
>>17052924

both methods work, Unicue traveller has batch processing as well or something, it's just down to what your individual boat
>>
>>17053950
a lot of the time the line where it lists the file to use for audio is still .wav instead of .flac or .tta or whatever, so you have to change that too

honestly i have no idea what music player these rippers use where such broken shit works for them

As a vocalist? She's okay, not as good as, say, Yukacco or Sennzai.
As a trackmaker? Sweet christ,

I think SYNERGY made me realize there isn't a single YUC'e song I hate. Even the ones that are kinda generic and overall just eh I still end up enjoying. I can see why kors has such a hard-on for the girl.
