Hikaranaka likes BJD-style masks so much. That is the main reason of his choice. Actually, his masks are pretty unique on my opinion. I'm speaking now not about visual design. Full enclosure, pretty good vision, interchangeable eyes and wigs, etc. I like it, but… Because how his masks look like, I think about another studios. I don't believe he can make a mask of my wish.

As for sleeve length, I only own one with long sleeves and I prefer it to short sleeve. I think gloves look better with short sleeve outfits tho.

Don't know what type of phone you have but a tripod would help immensely (even a ten dollar mini phone one) and get as much natural light in as possible(avoid flash). will help if your camera has a crappy sensor.

Though find the right balance with the light. Too much and you might overexpose the picture(your camera's auto settings will do its best for this not to happen). Being slightly underexposed is better as a rule of thumb as that can be worked on in post editing.

Welp, I sure just found out most of Kigurumi Maid is actually written in past tense. I guess this is why you actually learn Japanese before trying to translate something. The idea is simple. To try to live as kigurumi girl as long as possible. Of course, with breaks for eating and bathing. But it requires a lot. I'm more of a masking writer than a figuring writer, but the way I'd prefer to phrase it is as a disguise fiction writer. Locking masks feature embarrassingly often in my works and the appeal has to do with a heightened level of encasement, further immersion into character, bondage, and submissive bdsm elements. I can probably talk about this forever, but there's a commonality I've found in people who like the disguise/identity change element.

There's something quite restricting about being just you for the rest of your life. Sure, there may be things that only you can do, you may like yourself overall, and who you are etc. But in a world where we have so much fiction, especially interactive fiction, games etc, where we are invited into other people's lives, other worlds, the restriction of just living your whole life as just you with all its limitations is chafing.

Escape is the common thread, sometimes just from the mundane- but what sets disguise fiction apart from your generic american road movie is a perception that we ourselves, who we are, is the primary obstacle, looks, personality, philosophy even- not just the usual authority figure/small town tropes.

Being someone else, completely, is not a thrill that we can really indulge in without a mask of some kind, and to lock it on is heightening that thrill with the threat, real or simulated, of not being able to go back. Its playing with a possibility most if not all of us aren't comfortable with expressing normally, since its admitting a desire to bring about the end of yourself, even temporarily, to be someone else.

As an odd aside, the fetish remains interesting for a lot of us even when the transformation, identity change is happening to someone else, either by our hand or merely witnessed by us. Dissociation of self is such a critical part that even the possibility, the promise of someone, anyone managing it in itself is deeply intriguing. Disguise fetish in that sense is already the ultimate voyeurism- it doesn't matter what identity was exchanged, that identity didn't matter too much anyway in this context, as long as the character is brought to life.

Welp, 12 hours late to the fetish-convo party. Here's my 2 cents:
Anyways, as an alternate or complementary perspective to that idea of kigurumi being freeing, I think what does it for me is that it lets the character be free, but traps the person inside. I love that idea of everyone seeing a cute, happy girl walking around freely, as normal as can be, but underneath, someone inside feeling somehow obligated to keep the act up, to hide themselves. The addition of breathplay, hidden toys, etc. accentuates that latter aspect, as the person inside has to hide their pleasure and suffering on top of everything else. Full-enclosure masks and locks work towards both aspects, making the doll-like appearance more complete, and sealing away the person inside absolutely. The tactility of it all is also really important; I don't think a Psycho-Pass-style kigurumi hologram, for instance, would be anywhere as exciting. There's no sense of being bound tight, squeezed, or encased - no sense of being trapped. I think my favorite scenario with this is when, by choice or not, an alternate persona develops for the person within that "takes control" of the character, with the "actual" person inside feeling like they've lost some control of themselves and their body (or eventually accepting the "alternate" persona as their own).
As for long-term wear, I really like the idea of permanency (which I know dieter isn't too into, but oh well, different strokes and all that). I've probably thought way too much about how the encasement can be made as absolute as possible, without breaks for body maintenance (eating, bathing, waste, even hair/nail growth). I mean, non-permanent long term wear also does it for me (it has that great aspect of the person looking forward to the next time they can be encased), but something about being sealed inside forever, the person inside effectively gone, forced for the rest of their life to deal with a new body and new appearance, is so exciting to me.

I can kind've get where you're coming from, and ofc it's fine to approach it that way. (Big fan of your work btw, and your preferences do shine through) However, for me personally, I feel like the permanence takes away from the excitement of changing. Yeah, I actually prefer significant but not permanent transformation.I think the logic, initially at least, is the same though and there is an appeal in the original personality/identity conflicting with the new character. Whether the change is permanent or an exciting, private indulgence (even source of embarrassment- for humiliation fetishists out there) it seems to me markedly less exciting if there isn't conflict.

Simply put, a scenario of "hey I am girl now has boobs" is not particularly exciting to me. Putting on a suit should be more than merely putting on a costume or elaborate clothing; it should be putting on an identity.

As for forced versus willing, I do also prefer willing. I mean, forced into being a kigurumi girl is an entertaining thing from a bondage/bdsm perspective but from an identity change perspective I find it it takes some of the steam out if the character doesn't admit that they enjoy it and are at least a little enticed by the prospect of not coming back.

Locks, bondage, forced scenarios, its all tension, and that's what I find hot in the end.

Yep. Also, continuing to faff on about the psychology of this fetish, I think there's a background of personal repression that underlies a lot of the appeal.

A forced situation, which can be as innocent as a prank or a case of mistaken identity is a narrative workaround of the main character (who is often a stand in for the reader in fetish stories) having initial reservations about plunging in. Fears of being embarrassed, discovered, or personal shame for example.

Even if this initial bit is not completely voluntary, I like there to be an element of catharsis, perhaps with some humiliation play, where the disguised have to confront their new identity with their old and admit that they do enjoy it. Even if not permanently, this building up and releasing of tension has an obvious sexual analogue.

Since noone asked, and I can't sleep, I'm going to throw in my thoughts as well.

I like to blur lines between real and unreal. I like that tension where you can't tell if a doll has a person inside, or nothing inside. Where the doll might actually be moving, or the observer simply thinks she is. Following from this, I tend to like masks that are clearly artificial, instead of those meant to look human.

I also like the concept of a vacation from one's self. Many of my characters that choose to become dolls really don't like themselves, and seek the doll identity as an respite. Grammar and spelling are important for writers. The others, not so much.

They're made of multiple pieces that disassemble at various points, one of which happens to be the face here. I don't think anything broke, it just came loose from being shaken (which shouldn't happen with the ones used on the aforementioned fully enclosed masks). I guess I was more referring to the particular design of full-head instead of just any kind.

Yeah, it's a rare sentence that manages to pass through unscathed. I pretty much only use it for the automatic parsing and romanization that it does, which allows me to identify and look up individual words and phrases.

No, it's not accurate at all. Vision in most kigs is more limited than that.

A lot of kigs do have vision through the eyelid slits, but not all do. Different masks can have eyeholes in different places. On the masks I make, I put eyeholes everywhere that it is reasonable to put them (usually the eyelids, tops of the irises, pupils, and some small slits on the edges of the irises, although it depends on the character). Some makers also put them in the eyebrows, but on most of the masks I've made, the eyebrows are too high to be useful for vision.

Btw, Doller Marionette are writing a story that tells about one schoolboy that live in country where all girls, that older 13, and women wear kigurumis and don't show their faces anyone. So, for example, he don't know how his mother realy looks like.
Doller Marionette writes it very slow, but anyway. Soon boy in the story will be turned by his girlfriend into kigurumi girl.
