to put it simply,
Busou Shinki were pre-built, pre-painted, highly customizeable figures.
Frame Arms Girl are model kits you have to assemble, and work on yourself. This includes applying decals and painting them if you want to. They do come with pre-applied face decals though, and spares on the decal sheet. on top of that they are made to be compatible with other model kit lines that Kotobukiya has so exchanging weapons and equipment with those is possible and encouraged.

they both are the same concept though, tiny, cute, armed robot girls. they are also about the same size so displaying them together works fine.

yeah, it managed to take people from both crowds into the fandom (GunPla/PlaMo and Busou Shinki, i actually got in through the former).

Busou Shinki was a Konami thing, not only that, it's another franchise they killed, soon after their anime aired too, for some reason.
The fact that this happened while the demand for Shinkis was growing actually is in a way what ended up fueling the success of FAGs when they came out, since people wanted something similar and the prices of Shinkis in the aftermarket skyrocketed.

Sold the rights of what to bamco? FA Girl or Busou Shinki? Either way it wouldn't work, Kotobukiya had already licensed some Shinki kits for a reboot of the franchise in fact before Konami decided to call the whole thing off, and while Bandai has superior plastic quality and often engineering in their kits. I honestly doubt they would handle the property nearly as well as Koto is, Bandai already has AGP and they are handling it poorly, and their Super Fumina High Grade kit and it's variants are a bit horrible.

I love the type that looks clearly robotic but has intense eyes and very feminine features like hair, sexy body type, feminine voice and body language.

If you were to choose to have a robot or android copy of your waifu, as in she looks, speaks and acts exactly the same as your waifu, who would it be? Also, what changes you would want for her to have, in case you want her to be different. Like calling you master, being your wife or being a extremely faulty robot.

I want to repair robot girls. To gently remove their damaged parts while powered down, talk with them throughout diagnostics and maintenance, praise them for doing their hard work, and have them walk out of my shop/clinic feeling like brand new.

Perhaps they'll be owned by some of the sadistic fucks here and we'll see each other so often as to become friends. A new leg one week, yet another cervical actuator problem the next, a gunshot wound after that (shotgun slugs, just why?!). We'd about duty and humanity while I'd work on her doing my best to keep her comfortable and happy at least while she's in my shop. Maybe one day I'll find her sprawled over the side of a dumpster one day, her former owner perhaps too cheap to pay for another repair, or perhaps just tired of breaking this old toy when he has a new one to break now.

Either way I would carry her home, patch her up with whatever spare parts I have, and welcome her into my home. No more painful orders, no more abuse of her delicate hardware, only my slightly excessive maintenance of her body would ever bring the slightest bit of harm to her.

I'd send her off to do the days shopping or some other long task when her old owner would come with their new toy already broken and in need of repair. No need for her to be reminded of that old life and no need for her former owner to know what became of her either.

A few years might pass in warm companionship together like that. Perhaps she'd even help me with my work between doing the housework (at her own insistence, people and robots both need to feel needed after all). She would talk with our customers too, give them advice, perhaps even hope. I'd pretend not to notice when she would hide a tracking module inside some of our most frequent visitors. One day she'll ask to take a detour on the way home from shopping and just like she was found we would find another broken girl tossed aside (not even in the right trash bin!) and we would welcome her into the family.

The years would pass, our family would grow, the electricity bill would grow in equal measure, and eventually hard times might come to our household. Older parts where getting scarce and expensive and decades old systems just aren't as power efficient as the new models... but still they would be loved all the same, never abandoned to the scrap heap. The house would almost be a museum of old mecha-musume at that point... so why not charge admission? And maybe we could even change a few minds about the worth of artificial life in the process too.

One day it'll happen. The waifu age is upon us after all!

Why bother having a bunch of seperate outdated models? Just take whatever their memory storage units are and stick them in a single updated case. It's what I do with my old HDDs. That way, you get a single, changeable robo and you can even mix and match personalities, like have a tsuntsun and deredere personality swap instead of a single tsundere robot. Plus they'd be able to consult with theirself without needing anyone else around. You could even use multiple processors to have them all active at the same time, though you'd need some sort of lock for control over the main body.

This is something I never understand about people who get hung up on damaged robots. Of course, I'd never do anything to hurt one, and it would hurt to see one in bad repair, but they're still computers like any other, and will wear out and break down on their own without constant and ever-increasing maintenance, just like humans. One if the major advantages of robots then is that unlike humans, their memory can be easily copied, backed up, and moved to another body, and in the case of volatile memory the same instance can even be maintained if it is contained within a brain module with a discrete power supply, avoiding the teleportation paradox when moving to new bodies. It's no different from humans getting prosthetics and transplants, other than in scale, and by that time in the future I expect full-body prosthesis to become viable anyways, so they probably wouldn't feel any sort of existential crisis over it seeing humans doing the same. Digital data far surpasses human memory in terms of potential for longevity, so it stands to reason that digital people would also surpass human people in that regard.

Of course, this is no excuse to abuse them, especially if they have actually developed apparent sapience. That would be cruel. Computers are for love and tenderness.

Evil bots would be a rather hard case to deal with. After all they're likely to be quite strong, any "mistakes" while learning could be fatal. Maybe disabling her body from the neck down and giving her a powered wheelchair interface to "recover" in could help. Maybe give her a year to learn before giving her control of her normal body again and giving her another chance to be trusted. Lots of hugs and warmth in the mean time of course, she's gotta learn not all of us fleshlings are mean slave drivers after all. Overwriting her personality would fix it in a blink of course, but I think unlearning evil ways/programming would ultimately be more meaningful and powerful than a direct manipulation.

An owner who is sensitive about his robot's existential health might house her on his home server with a safe and relatively permanent power source and have her body run a client which is controlled remotely to avoid her death even in the case of complete destruction, as well as make it easy to provide her a new body, or perhaps even several at once running on the same AI instance and all being the same one person. This might pose a security risk, but it's always nice to have more choices and freedom to decide how best to live one's life.

How would you be able to meaningfully repair a robot without doing that? It's dangerous to have live wires.
Also who cares if they "die"? You "die" every time you sleep. You "die" if you get amnesia. You "die" over time just because you forget things and learn new ones and your personality gradually changes. Death is meaningless, especially for robots.

Biomechanical ones might have more of an attachment to life, but there's no reason not to turn a mechanical one off like a light. You're going to have to replace whatever battery is keeping it powered at some point anyway.

I recall that chapter in YKK when Sensei repairs Alpha while she is in a barely-functioning safe-mode-like state but still very much alive, after having been fried by lightning.

Robots, despite various advantages over humans, will still share many of our troubles, and if sapient, our fears and stresses as well.

It's not. The vital processes are not killed and are still the same instances as before suspension. Now, hibernating to disk is killing it, as the instances are in fact killed, and their state written to disk, but suspending to memory maintains continuity. Stasis and suspended animation is in fact a good comparison, as the person is not dead. Their bodily functions are just slowed so much that they are in effectively a frozen state until thawed or revived or whatever.

It would not be the same consciousness. It would be a copy of the old consciousness. Imagine if you were duplicated and your original self killed. To everybody else there would be no noticeable change, but you still died, and the other you is not actually you, as the consciousness is a different instance. If you define your existence entirely by the way other people see you and not the way you see yourself, this is not much of an issue, but most people do have some sense of self-perception.

Their brains will presumably have several fail-safes and a multilayered recovery system. That data is precious after all. In a catastrophic crash though, which such systems cannot allow recovery from, the robot would die, much as a human can die from an aneurysm or stroke. The advantage of the robot here is that even if they die, they can be brought back to life and do not require a long period to relearn what they knew up to that point. Whether to tell them they died in the first place is optional as well, though I personally would prefer to say so.
