I would also like to add the only reason the userbase of /jp/ is nowhere near as bad as /a/ is because nobody new gives a shit about this board. Merging it with something actually popular would ruin everything.

Most 4chan boards needs to be split in multiple other boards, not to be merged in even less boards.

Merge /jp/ with anything and you might as well delete it. /jp/ culture isn't nearly robust enough to keep itself intact if paired with a stronger board.

These last few years or so it's become common practice on like half the site to speak to each other through nothing but pure meme-spewing, out of "irony", for whatever reason. I feel it's a different and distinctly worse kind of bad in the same way a headache is bad and getting it slowly crushed in a bench vise until your skill caves in is worse. I would also argue your statement is wrong in itself.
