Well, she woke up from decades of slumber to present time. Her fashion sense would be out of whack because she'd have no idea how to dress in order to blend into society. Also, the white sweater/blouse and long purple skirt gave her a strong presence (IMO).

I've said it before that if they would keep the long skirt with just the addition of the new boots, she'd be perfect.

Why not just make it an alternative design?

I mean, keep her old design the main design, then, at some point in the VN, have her change her cloths for a bit to test it out.

Saber and Rin both have alternative designs that are popular, too (Saber in her armour/casual wear, Rin with her cloaked school uniform/casual sweater). The only problem would be that redesign and old design are both for casual wear.

Type-Moon in general has completely fallen to pandering just to make more money. Saber being in EVERY fate game is a great example. The Arc redesign trades in her cute and conservative clothes for a miniskirt that will probably lead to immense fanservice.

I am a huge fan of modest clothing, and Arc was the best example of doing this well until they ruined her. I'll probably still read it just for the Sakura route, but FUCK that redesign.
