Update: So yesterday I happen to have the day off from work and finally decided to give this kig fiction thing a try. Several drinks and hours later. I too have been writing a kig story but it looks like I'll split it into multiple parts. My primary concern at this point is I want to cover some "bases" so to speak kink wise but I don't want it to be derivative.

My fetish writing consists mostly of masking fiction, and it reflects that. I don't personally think you should worry about it looking like trash, because to be honest the main hindrance I find to making a consistent believable plot is... well the fetish stuff.

You speak of Ed Wood, and in this case, the niche fetish is the Angora sweater of the story. On one hand its awkward how the plot contorts to accommodate it, on the other hand its kinda why you wrote it in the first place. Effort isn't wasted making the vehicle for kink as believable and compelling as possible, since the it makes the ride more entertaining, but it is still a vehicle.

If you feel it's taking too long to get to the payoff it might be a good idea to keep that in mind when you write; make sure you have a good ratio of story-fetish throughout the story rather than just leaving separate parts to either be story or fetish - blend them together, see what happens!

Personally I've felt that this problem often crops up with longer stories, and it's absolutely a skill that you need to practice to be able to structure and balance out a longer story so that it doesn't tip the story-fetish scale too much, if that makes any sense at all

I'm hardly more than a amateur at writing at best, but I hope my advice makes a lick of sense

tl;dr keep in mind what scenarios and ideas you want to include in the story and make sure none of them drag on for too long - all things in moderation etc.

Is it uncomfortable to wear extremely long gloves, long boots or a bodysuit over a Hadati?

Likewise, is it difficult to get your arms or legs into said gloves or boots depending on what the material of the Hadati is?

Subjectively, I'd say it's fairly comfortable. The fact that more things are pushing down against your skin kind of adds to that enjoyable 'hug' feeling that people get with tights in general. The only discomfort comes, particularly with multiple bodysuits, when you get really sweaty or when it starts to impede your motion. The former becomes an issue because the hadatai holds the sweat so well that it's likely to prune the skin and it could contribute to a rash. The latter becomes an issue because as you get so many layers that it starts to impede your motion, fighting against it to try and gain a full range of motion can be painful. It digs into your armfold when you try and bend your arm, for example.

As to how easy it is to put on, it'll depend on the material. Typically the hadatai actually ends up catching fabric much less than regular skin. My jeans, for example, tend to fall down more in kig precisely because the fabric-to-fabric interface has so much less friction than a fabric-to-skin interface.

Usually not, but a common technique is to have a snap fastener sewn into the hadati and the top of the gloves so they stay in place and don't slip down. Same with leggings and other awkward costume parts: either the leggings are sewn in, or attached directly with snap fasteners.

Cure Miracle's Ruby Style uses a trick you seldom see, but is most common in costumes that lack shoulder support: that flesh-toned bit at the back (where the zip is) isn't part of the hadati. The dress itself has a piece of flesh-toned fabric going over the shoulder area, which when worn over the hadati, makes it look like it's part of it.

RWBY actually cracked the Japanese market. It got major billboard space in Akihabara, was stocked in Akiba shops with its own displays (shop floor space being at an obvious premium) and even got some spinoff merch like figures/statues. Regardless of what you think of RWBY or whether you count it as "anime", that's a good measure of what has "made it" in Japan.

The answer is pretty much "You don't".
To get the real feeling of what its like to kig, you'll have to blow some more money ~
Cheapest I'd say is a basic Hadatai (~200€) and a MuniMuni (dunno price).

If he only wants to "try", see if there is any conventions or kigs living close to you, maybe he can try (don't count on it though).
I know that at Japan Expo you'd have the chance to try a mask.

This Rena reminds me a while back of something Dolphin did back when it was still popular. I remember they created both a Rena and a Sonozaki (don't remember if it was Mion or Shion since I don't remember the exact hair length) masks with normal facial features and also a couple with more...."Himanizawa"-infected featured, going so far as to give the second Sonozaki kig mask that infamous "demon face". Before learning of Higurashi back then I wondered who would make such weird faced masks for them. The things you learn later on make the difference.

It could be a seemless slightly stretchy layer. Like a shirt without any sleeves. This could work (no sleeves means only mild stretching is needed to wear it) and would explain seemingly larger folds below the shoulders

Has anyone else noticed that sometimes the silicone padding in boobsuits is fairly obvious? The silicone breasts they use are almost orange and the hadatai isn't always opaque enough to hide that fact; especially in direct sunlight or under intense studio lights

For what it's worth, a good guide to guessing at the gender of the performer is to look at their inner thighs. Really skinny guys don't have much fat on their legs and, to the extent that they pad their legs, they only really pad the outside. So if you see a skinny kig with stickly skinny upper legs, it's likely to be a guy. And if you see a skinny kig with fat on the inside of their upper legs, it's likely to be a girl. No guarantees, just something I've noticed

The theory is merely that males have more significantly shorter index than ring fingers, and this is supposedly due to prenatal testosterone exposure.
