I did some studying up, and the artist for OV is someone named らんぷみ, and the only other game they've done is Yoshiwara Higanbana. I guess now's a good as time as any to play it, since I think some people here wanted to know about it too.

Sword related RL event involving Yasukuni shrine, Chinese and Korean fans upset.
There's war criminals enshrined there who participated in rape and massacre of their people. Also some non-Japanese who were forced against their will to fight for the Empire of Japan are also enshrined there against their family's will.

But another problem is, that shrine holds people who died in other wars too, also innocent people who didn't do any crimes, so Japanese have the right to revere that shrine. There was only a decision to enshrine the war criminals decades after WWII which even pissed off the Emperor.

It's not as outright comedic as Karin's other games but it gets pretty over the top and holds nothing back. Some routes are more fun than others and there's some hilarious shit like blowing out birthday candles with gunshots among other things.

I don't know how to judge how bad something is when there's a good chance that the ridiculousness is intentional given that it's Karin. It's not like it's aspiring to be some great 3deep5u plotge and failing either. It's doing a better job at keeping my attention than a lot of other games at least.

I finished Yoshimoto's route and a 1/3 in Yagasaki's. I made a good call going for he-of-a-thousand-nicknames first. He has a good dynamic with Teppei as much as one could make with a crazy guy who greets someone with a metal pipe every time. Ended up with a satisfying end once I finish seeing them horrifying bad ends. Earn your happy ending indeed.

Good job, Teppei. Your Sherlock scan of the participants earlier made me wary of going for the Prince and Batman. According to my ancient Chinese horror pottery epic games, the chance of dying and getting backstabbed is much higher with those aforementioned character types. As for Yagasaki, I'm still on a first date period with him, but it looks like we'll be getting more solid info on what's up with the sketchy game in the first place.

That's the only route I have yet to play. The whole God thing that was revealed in Hiroya's route came so out of nowhere and felt so lazy, as if the writers were running out of time and needed to quickly add a reason for Kazuha's (sudden) surge of knowledge. I definitely agree, but there were some cute moments in it. Vol.3 was usually cute when they got to the "dude receives" tracks, though the voice was a little grating.

Their non-h is cute though, if a bit boring. I wish they had a BGM cd, it was usually good.
