What happened to Sheena Ringo? Her first albums were awesome and now they're either bland or just kitsch (in a bad way). I was listening to the Dai Ikkai Ringohan Taikai no Moyo concert and shit, Ringo even sang so much better back then. I can't really blame Tokyo Jihen, although their albums were 6.5/10 at best there are some really really good songs in there (Shuraba, Keshou Naoshi, ssaw, Sounan, etc.)

Monari's two solo singles have been bretty gud and IMO she's got potential to be pretty popular if marketed well considering cute voice + good music + very pretty.

On the flipside, the shambling corpse of Especia was finally put out of its misery today. Not that I didn't like what Haruka, Erika and whatever her name was were doing because it wasn't bad. It just wasn't Especia and trying to continue using that same name with a different sound (including songs entirely in English) and without your most popular member (Monari) pretty much spelled death. Sad too because they seemed poised for big things in the next few years and then blew it with the move to Tokyo.

Anyone looking forward to GRAND FAMILY ORCHESTRA's second mini-album YELLOW VALENTINE? Coming out next week and this time under actual label (Tower Records). It's a new band with Matsuyama Kouta of BYEE the ROUND fame. I prefer BtR's more harsh and diverse sound but GFO is still extremely energetic rock music. Matsuyama's great vocals and guitar work aside, I really love Pikmin at drums and Chiba Ryuutarou's bass guitar work is also masterful. I'm still very cross that their e-shop doesn't ship their first mini-album overseas since I wouldn't hesitate a minute that way. And while the band is still new I hadn't managed to find it online anywhere.
