Her design is fine and there are "plain" looking Touhous in Windows as well. Two relevant bits of his answer to that question is that 1) answering the question either way as though it were fact gives narrative power to the old works, which he wanted to avoid even back then; 2) the "answer" was that he would bring them into new works if he wanted to, whereas answering yes/no as fact unnecessarily restricts his freedom to write.
