Her hubristic Lunarian ego and pride has been hurt. It was her downfall. Even if they have gotten used to Earth, it's the same pride that won't allow her to go back even if she would likely face only minor punishment. Now she's been forced to put aside her ego, confront her bias living somewhere she honestly detests, and forever deal with her choice in taking the elixir, making it for Kaguya, and dragging Mokou into it.

That and the fact that they have to exist for eternity. Even when the earth and sun die, they will be stuck there, with only each other to live with. Eventually they'll be stuck in space or get sucked into a black hole or something.

Inaba of the Moon and Inaba of the Earth is a comedy manga that's semi-canon at best. Parts like the party at Remilia's before the events of SSiB are canon. Minor things like Eirin catching a cold should be disregarded.

What does being a gag/comedy manga have to do with its canonicity? It seems like an accurate depiction of what life in a place where a trickster rabbit, an immortal princess who's probably bored out of her mind most of the time, a genius pharmacist and her pet (who's arguably the most 'normal' of them all) all live together is like.

It's not something that is only mentioned offhandedly. If it's the plot of an entire chapter, then it's not minor.

Actually. Eirin might be bluffing to some degree. We know from Mokou that you need at least two tastes to become immune to illnes. But if she took only one then Yuyuko's powers probably doesn't work on her but she may not be completely immortal. She's sly enough to do that.

That actually does kinda make sense. The first taste only removes aging. Although it's not clear exactly how Yuyuko's power kills people, it's a possibility that she just instantly ages them to the point where they are fated to die. If this is the case, then the first taste of the Hourai would protect somebody from it.
Of course, it's much more likely Yuyuko's power is completely different, and Eirin is just immortal.

She does, the english translations in the game are just garbage; particularly the endings.

She says she drank it, Yuyuko goes "argh no that means I can't kill you", then the off-dialogue text notes that Yuyuko can't kill those who've drank the Elixir. It's really clear-cut.

Rather that being a gag manga in and of itself, the point is that ZUN didn't write it and had no known supervision over it. He just let Araki write whatever he wanted for comedic freedom, more or less.

The whole sips thing has never really been founded on anything concrete and is never otherwise referenced. It's extremely likely that it's just poetic, but at the very least it shouldn't be considered seriously as a thing.

While it definitely isn't "clear", it's very much implied to be the same as the Saigyou Ayakashi, where the wording is that she "invites them to death". With the tree, essentially people would just go sit under it, fall asleep and die somehow. Considering her ability evolved from the ability to control departed souls, it might as well just be that she forces your soul to leave your body just as if you had died naturally.
